Both these shows feature a ridiculously overpowered protagonist. You don't watch these shows to see if they protagonist will win a fight, he will. Mahouka features Shiba Tatsuya, a seemingly invincible magician who is shunned by the magic school he attends as he doesn't possess the skills the school grades on but is incredible in every other regard. Maou Gakuin: longest subtitle ever features Anos Voldigoad, the reincarnation of the Demon King of Tyranny who sacrificed his life 2000 years prior to the anime in order to bring peace to the world that was at war, who attends a school that wants to find the reincarnation of said protagonist, however not everything is so easy as it seems someone has rewritten history and changed the name and beliefs of the Demon King, which leads Anos to score almost nothing in the test and become a "misfit" If you've seen Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei it is obvious that Maou Gakuin blah blah blah takes obvious inspiration from it. Both of these stories have an overpowered main character who is at the lowest level in their respective schools. Both schools have a segregated student body and discriminates against the one our protagonist is part of. I could go on, but if you like one of these shows I can almost guarantee you'll like the other.
