Both series are by the same author and share the same basic style. Magdala focuses more on alchemy than economics but again looks at it from a real world perspective and presents it based on logic rather than magic. Like Spice and Wolf, Magdala also features an animal eared female love interest who banters back and forth with the MC in much the same way. Again the two face difficulties from superstitious authorities and have to outsmart their opponents to stay alive
