Hinamatsuri comes off as a jumbled mess that doesn't really know what it wants to be.
the first episode set me up to this action, sci-fi, adventure to find out the origins of Hina and what she wanted with Earth and how her being under the care of this Yakuza member would change both of their lives, and it all went down hill from there.
as the show progresses, it seems like more of those initial characteristics drop off in favor or a vanilla, saccharine slice of life with one dimensional characters. all the characters lack meaningful depth and replaced it with one noted shticks,

Berserk is one of the most beautifully created anime I've seen to date. I feel like everything I was fitting, and was there for a purpose, but I feel as if the ending was cut short. Though, it probably plays to the creator's benefit, since I was left wanting more and really wanting to continue following Guts on his journey. DISCLAIMER: Do not watch this show if you dislike blood, sexual acts (consensual or otherwise), or violence.

Sakamichi no Apollon is in a genre of its own. I've never watched an anime that touched me quite like this one. Not only is the animation breath taking, at least for me, but I really enjoyed the tying in of the music with a day in the life.
I give the story a 9, simply because it's a cute story. I loved the development with interpersonal relationships, the real emotion, and how the story actually progresses in relation to time passing. I give the art a 10, because the style appeals to me aesthetically. The movements of Sentarou and Kaoru when playing their corresponding instruments matches ... |
