I don't see any development in this story, so I would have to give it a 0. The entire story revolves around the MC with zero personality. He just wants peace and strives for nothing. He has no goals/motivations/purpose. Any development that happens... gets reverted back. So much for development. Maybe there is development after 9 episodes, but I got more disappointed and upset after every episode.

2. Characters: 2/10
The main female protagonist pisses me off. She falls in love with him because of a simple magic dispersing spell that left her breathless. ...

Mixed Feelings

Disclosure: ***NO SPOILER REVIEW***
While I speak fluent Cantonese and barely understand any Mandarin, I highly prefer Japanese voice acting. I am also very forgiving to plot holes and minor flaws if the show is exciting or interesting. I watched King’s Avatar on YouTube at 1080p in Mandarin with English subtitles. Unless you can read English fast, it will be very difficult to read the subtitles because they disappear very quickly.

Very Short Comments
The artwork and combat are amazing, but the story, sound, characters, voice acting, progression, and suspense are all below average in comparison to Japanese Anime.

Story / Score: 2. ...
Although the premise is good enough to draw one's attention, this animation has no depth. The story is overly simplistic and full of flaws that may irritate MMORPG players. For example, while the game has become so popular that there are over 100 million players, the general public has no idea what the best professional player looks like. The professional team’s sponsor is a smart profiteer, yet he and the teammates did not sell out the main character’s identity. Another huge disappointment to the story is that everyone is obsessed with breaking the record, yet there is no financial incentive.

Art / Score: 10.
The artwork reminds me of Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works. The combat is very flashy and utilizes wushu fighting style along with dazzling spells. The characters are also very well drawn and attractive, but the costumes lack flair. The background, lighting, and shades were very well executed and appropriate for each scene. There are a couple of very short scenes where CGI 3D technology was utilized, which felt very awkward because it did not blend well.

Sound / Score: 6.
The music was decent enough to boost the excitement during the battle scenes, but it is not memorable at all. The OP and ED song was lackluster because the singer’s talent can be found in just about every hotel performance in America. The weapon clashing sounds was very exciting, but the guns and spells needed more power.

Characters / Score: 1.
The characters have minimal development and zero background. Aside from one super irritating personality, every character’s personalities are not memorable at all. Aside from the last episode, there is no backstory to help the audience understand and know the characters on a deeper level. None of the characters are charming. Fortunately, the main character does have one redeeming personality trait that boosts the combat and strategy scenes. However, all the characters are too dull and underdeveloped to project any sort of feels for the audience

Enjoyment / Score: 5
Eye candy is the animation’s biggest saving grace and the only reason I finished the last episode. I often find myself wondering how the battle will end and look forward to the next battles. However, this animation gravely lacks suspense. Moreover, this animation failed to immerse me into its story and character because there are too many flaws that I find irritating and unable to overlook.

Great character and story development. Plot is easy to follow. Feels may move you to tears.

Last two episodes was a little disappointing. The first 10 episodes more than made up for it.
