The sixth season! Well, technically I guess this would be the seventh since this one was split into two different shows, but it's the same characters/story anyway.
If you haven't watched the first season of this show there's really no point in watching this one.
So if you were expecting this season to have a few digidestined and partner digimon that gradually get stronger throughout the show you were dead wrong. This entire show focuses more on the "Xros [Cross] Fusion" rather than the normal rankings of Digimon (Rookie>Champion>Ultimate>Mega [Dub]). There really are no rankings actually. They don't look at an enemy and panic because it's
...
a Mega level, but I digress. Taiki heads back into the Digital World, minus his two useless friends, and learns upon returning that 7 Death Generals have taken control of different zones in the Digital World. Interesting and cliche, eh?
Story: So yes, Taiki and Shoutmon return to the Digital World, meet up with old friends, learn what has been going on, and discover they have to defeat the 7 Death Generals in each zone in order to reach the ultimate bad guy boss, Bagramon. The story itself had potential. Yes, it's a pretty basic storyline, but it's also a kids show. If they had actually stuck to what makes Digimon, well, Digimon, then it would have been a different story. The whole Xros Fusion stick didn't really make the show interesting. They just keep combining more and more Digimon together in order to defeat the enemy. While I haven't finished the show yet (2 episodes to go), I doubt those 2 episodes will change my mind on this show.
Character: When I enjoy a show, it typically involves my enjoyment for a particular character. Unfortunately, I don't really like any character in this show. The main kid, Taiki, is really annoying. He's a total optimist and never wants to give up on someone. Boooooring. The other two characters, Nene and Kiriha, are of course different in personality, but they bring nothing interesting to the show. Nene, the girl, begins to trust the team more as she continues her search for her brother in the Digital World. Kiriha also becomes more trusting to the group, but he's still fitting the role of the "anti-hero" until the last bunch of episodes.
Enjoyment: I would have preferred this show a lot more if each human had their own partner digimon that gradually became stronger as the show went on. Sure, you could say that's typical if they need to evolve to Ultimate in order to beat an Ultimate, but that's what makes Digimon - the franchise.
7/10.

Solid 8's all around (minus the art, which gets a 9 from me).
Story: Nurarihyon no Mago (or Mago for short since I never remember how to spell the Nurarihyon part) is the perfect example of a story that takes time to get really good. It begins with an introduction of our main protagonist, Rikuo Nura, who is a demon...or kinda. He's human, but 1/4 of him is part youkai (/ayakashi/demon). The beginning of the manga really tends to focus on his human life which sort of makes the series boring. I don't know about you, but when I read a series in WSJ, I
...
expect a lot of action (unless of course it's one of those ecchi/romance/school settings which this clearly isn't just by looking at the cover xD). As the story goes on, Rikuo learns about what it takes to truly take over the Nura clan from his grandfather. He starts to meet more youkai and they grow to respect and follow him. As the manga goes on, the human aspect of Rikuo's life takes a back seat to his inner demon. We get more battles, more in-depth training sessions, and tons of new characters.
Art: Personally, I love the art for this series...especially towards where it currently is when I'm writing this (chapter 96). The demons are very well detailed and the settings are extremely well done. I'm not one to be picky on art, but I really like the backgrounds this story has.
Character: Well, there are many characters in this series. The great part is that you do get back story on them as the manga continues. Sure, with so many characters not everyone has been covered yet, but as I said before, this series really has improved.
Enjoyment: Towards the beginning, my enjoyment for this series wasn't that high. However, it really has become a good shounen series and I'm really enjoying it. If you aren't aware of the way Weekly Shounen Jump does things, they rank their series in the Table of Contents. Ever since the current arc of this series has started, Mago has been ranking high and getting color pages here and there. It's amazing and really nice to see.
If you enjoy a good shounen series that progresses nicely in time, then try out this series. It's a weekly series and it IS scanlated weekly so you don't have to wait long. Hell, there's even an anime adaptation coming this July. So look out for that!
Overall: 8/10

Bakuman is a pretty unique story. I've never read or heard of any other story like it.
Story: The story starts out in a weird way. It gives you the feeling that it's going to end up like another typical Shounen series (lame main character who mysteriously gets an interesting life with all kinds of fantasy and supernatural aspects), but that will change quickly. After a quick reference to the author's previous work (Death Note, ever heard of it? :P), we begin to learn the basis. Mashiro is just your average 9th grader, but when he accidentally leaves his notebook in school, he ends up
...
running into another classmate that would pretty much change his future. This other classmate, Takagi, basically says that he likes how Mashiro can draw and wants to know if he would draw manga for him, while Takagi writes the stories. There is also a bit of romance involved, since the girl Mashiro likes wants to become a voice actor in the future. Anyway, from here on in, we see the struggle it takes to become a mangaka.
Art: I think the art is pretty good. It is straight-forward for the most part, but the detail involved with the manga companies are very well drawn IMO.
Character - More development is needed on the characters, but it is still early when writing this so I'm not worried. The characters are pretty likable and can be quite amusing as well. It fits with the story.
Enjoyment - I think the main reason why I enjoy this manga is because it is so realistic. I'm so used to reading things that are so far fetched that it can sometimes be annoying. However, Bakuman is so real and you even get references to many other manga series out there (Bleach, Naruto, Gintama, Death Note, and other old time manga that I wasn't so familar with). Plus, you almost feel as if you want the characters to succeed. Also, I think it is really cool that the reader gets to be informed about how hard it is to become a mangaka. Overall, I enjoy this series. ^_^
Overall, Bakuman is a really real series that can be pretty entertaining. It's definitely a good read. ^^

Goth - short, mystery, psychological, horror manga. The title alone sounds pretty intriguing.
Goth is a story about two students who are basically obsessed with death and murder cases. These students, Yoru Morino and Itsuki Kamiyama, don't initially talk to each other in school. After a brief encounter, they realize how much they have in common. Yoru usually ends up getting involved with some murderer and Kamiyama ends up either solving the case or making a fool of the criminal.
Art - I actually really liked the art. It was straight-forward and very easy to interpret, and I think that type of style was a
...
good choice for this type of series. Some of the artwork for the more "horror" scenes were pretty interesting to see as well. Overall, I think the style of drawing fit well with the concept.
Character - Well, you only have the two main characters. In such a short length, we do get background on one of them (Yoru). As the manga reaches it's end, Yoru's background could become confusing if you don't pay attention, but overall it was good.
Enjoyment - 9/10. I'm typically a fan of mystery cases and considering Goth was about a bunch of murder mysteries, I really enjoyed it. If you enjoy a series that'll get you to think, then this series would be a good pick for you. Overall, Goth was a good manga series. ^_^

Blade of the Immortal. By first glance at the title, you'd think that the show would be pretty cool, but unfortunately after 1 episode you would be immensely disappointed.
Blade of the Immortal follows the story of a guy named Manji. Manji is a samurai who is known to have killed over 100 men and lived to tell the tale. To put it simply, he's immortal. In the beginning, a girl named Rin hires Manji as her bodyguard as she travels to get revenge on the people who killed her family. The overall basis of the story isn't all that bad, but everything else makes it
...
worse.
Animation - When trying to stay positive, the animation isn't all that bad. I've seen worse. However, most of it looks the same (shows/villages) and overall creates a rather boring show.
Sound - Terrible. The sound is usually out of place and otherwise just bad. The OP and ED themes are horrible as well IMO. Most of the time there really isn't a lot of background music worth paying attention to other than some weird music that is played when something dramatic happens.
Character - 7 episodes into it and we know little on our main characters. We know obvious traits they possess, but some more background would be nice. There hasn't been many other recurring characters worth mentioning or even paying attention to anyway.
Enjoyment - I was looking forward to this since I saw the manga was so highly praised, but the anime version is a big disappointment. Overall, don't waste your time and just check out the manga if you wanna check out this series. I'm sure the manga is better because there aren't many things that could be worse than this anime as a whole.

Edited. The story really switched gears so I decided to basically re-write this review.
Story: The story begins with your average high school student who finds a calling card. The card is one of the rumored "Psyren" cards and supposedly people who find and use these cards vanish. Yes, towards the beginning of the series the story is kind of a mix between Gantz and Hunter x Hunter. Gantz in the sense that they teleport to strange worlds, fight bad guys/monsters, and return at random times. And HxH in the sense that they all have their own unique fighting techniques that they're naturally good at (like
...
Nen).
However, the story really takes a different direction when they begin to learn the mysteries of the worlds they are transported too. I don't wanna reveal too much, but the story shifts off of that "other-worldly" scenario (which is common in the beginning) and begins to grow into a story much more than that. They learn who is sending them to the other worlds, why they are fighting, and much more. It's a weekly release so you don't have to worry about waiting too long for new chapters (it's also scanlated weekly unlike some series who have releases at random times).
Art: The art is pretty good. The backgrounds can be quite stunning and I enjoy the character designs.
Character: The characters are all unique. As the story goes on, they tend to focus on certain characters, however, the characters we meet in the beginning still play a role in the on-going story (which is nice). We keep finding out more and more as the story goes on.
Enjoyment: Well, I was kinda shocked when the series switched gears. I enjoyed it more in the beginning because it was simple to follow. As my manga list grows and I experience different stories, I tend to find it hard to follow some details in Psyren. Nonetheless, I still love this story and hope it doesn't get cut in WSJ. I'd definitely recommend this story. Just try it out. If you don't like it, then don't continue. After all, we all have our own tastes and opinions.
Overall: 8/10

Mushishi is the story of a Mushishi, or Mushi-Master, Ginko, as he travels around the world helping those who are having Mushi troubles. Mushi are unique beings that aren't plants, animals, nor human. All Mushi are different which can cause for quite an interesting story.
Story - Well, Mushishi is a bit different. It doesn't follow an actual plot, but instead has episodes that are unique to the overall basis of the story: a Mushi is causing trouble to someone or some village and the Mushishi, Ginko, tries to help whoever is in need of help. However, the stories are very interesting most of the time
...
and will hold the viewers attention. I will admit, some of the stories were a bit boring, but 90% of them were really good.
Art -Well, the animation of the actual Mushi was good, however, the characters in each episode were pretty much drawn the same. In fact, you might get confused sometimes in the beginning since you have to realize that other than the main character, there aren't many recurring characters despite the similar appearance. On the other hand, the overall animation of the detailed backgrounds were very nice. You'd be amazed if you just paused on some of the mountain or forest scenes. Quite nicely done.
Sound - Being a supernatural anime, I enjoyed the "spooky" sound that came from it. The OP and ED also followed this supernatural-theme, which was very enjoyable. The sound went together nicely with the anime.
Character - Well, not much development is shown since we only have 1 main recurring character, but we do get background on Ginko in a few episodes. It would have been nice to see some more, though. Ginko is pretty like able too since he is very levelheaded and knows what he is doing.
Enjoyment - Most of the time I really enjoyed Mushishi. However, since some of the episodes weren't that good (more or less around 5 of the 26 episodes), I did get bored throughout those, but otherwise I found the episodes to be really unique and interesting.
Overall, Mushishi is a very unique supernatural anime that will gain praise by any Supernatural fan. If you prefer things like Romance, Comedy, and Action then this is not the anime for you. But anyhow, I enjoyed it. ^_^

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX is a manga generally like the anime. However, the main characters in the manga use a different deck (and IMO, a better deck) in the manga than their decks in the anime
Story - The story is pretty different from what you would expect. The manga generally focuses on the character's ability to see duel monster spirits, as well as having various duels in many different situations. Most of the cards are manga-exclusive and pretty cool. :P
Art - The art isn't bad at all. The way the monsters are drawn are pretty good.
Character - We get some decent background on a few of
...
the characters. I think it could have been more detailed, but it isn't that type of manga. All in all, not bad.
Enjoyment - Well, I like it. I think the reason I like it is because I like the cards they use in the manga than the anime. Judai uses his Nature E-Heros, Asuka uses Ice-type cards, Manjyome uses Dragons, Misawa with Fiend (aka apparitions in the manga), and Sho uses other types of Roid monsters not seen in the anime.
Overall, if you're a fan of the GX characters and dueling, you'll most likely enjoy this manga.

Sekirei starts out with your typical pathetic male---couldn't get into college, no close friends, no girlfriend, or any hope at all for anything good to happen in the near future l...until that one fateful day. :P
Story - Pretty generic, yet unique at the same time if that makes any sense whatsoever. Like I said, you've got your typical "down in the dumps" male, Minato, who feels like all is lost after not making it into college, but then he meets this girl who instantly connects with him. The girl turns out to be what is called a Sekirei and now Minato is involved in a
...
game known as the Sekirei Plan. 108 Sekirei have been let loose throughout the city, each looking for someone they adore (technical term 'Ashikabi"). After most of them have found their Ashikabi, the game sets into a new development which will cause all of the Sekirei to battle with the winner receiving a prize. That prize is that the Sekirei will be able to live with their Ashikabi forever. However, judging from how the series is going, it doesn't look like we'll see any of that Sekirei Plan game in action this season (assuming they make a second season). Anyway, the good part about the story is the fact that each Ashikabi isn't limited to one Sekirei, so it'll obviously lead to some funny moments when the Sekirei fight over their Ashikabi. However, sometimes I wish that the main character, Minato, would show a little more affection as to the Sekirei he likes instead of trying to treat them all equally. =/
Art & Sound - The artwork isn't bad, but the females are all generally the same with a few exceptions...big breasted with long hair (with the exception being their personalities). :P The sound isn't bad either, although the OP and ED songs aren't particularly the greatest out there.
Character - Well, you're bound to like someone from the show since all of the Sekirei have a unique personality. There are a lot to choose from which would make anyone enjoy the show somewhat. The development could have gone a bit smoother, if you could even pick out any development in the series, but it isn't that bad. Having a favorite character will definitely increase the chance of enjoying the show. :P
Enjoyment - Well, I really like it for some odd reason. I have my favorite Sekirei (Tsukiumi), pairings I like better than others, as well as the anticipation to see what will happen next. It really comes down to if you like Ecchi, Harem, Romance series if you ask me. The action part of the show is practically a bonus for me. With that said, I, personally, really enjoy Sekirei.
Overall, Sekirei is an interesting anime that will hopefully have a second season to touch base on the actual storyline of the Sekirei Plan.

I was excited to see a third season was out when I had finally caught up with both seasons, but 10 episodes into Princess no Rondo and I'm not impressed.
I wouldn't recommend watching this if you have not seen the 2 previous seasons, especially since the beginning of this season jumps right off from where Season 2 left off.
Story - The third season definitely focuses a lot on the fan service for LouiseXSaito fans. =/ Most of the beginning episodes of the season are on that alone, however, it gets rather repetitive. Saito gets into a sticky situation that turns into an "ecchi moment",
...
Louise catches him in the act, claims to "never forgive him", and then she ends up forgiving him if not by the end of the episode, then by the next episode. By a third season, I'd wanna see more of a good plot than things we've seen in the past two seasons. Besides, we know Louise and Saito love each other, so why go through so many (as in like 3-4 episodes worth) inconvenient situations for them? When we finally get a plot going after many episodes of fan service, we learn that Tabitha is in some sort of predicament and Saito, Louise, and some other recurring characters put their social status on the line to rescue her, as she has helped them many times before. Can't say how well that turned out since the season hasn't finished airing, but it isn't bad so far. :P
Art & Sound - Neither of them are bad. We get another decent OP and ED song as well as some bright and colorful animation. :P
Enjoyment - Even though I like Saito and Louise together, the fan service episodes got repetitive and boring. I hope that now that the plot has officially gotten underway, we'll end the season on a good note. ^_^
Overall, Znt: PnR is a definite "must watch" if you're a fan of the Zero no Tsukaima series, but you probably won't be as impressed with this season as you might have been with its previous seasons.
