The story is pretty predictable but I liked that the MC had a weird superpower, The art was impressive at first, especially in the beginning but it quickly got underwhelming later on in the story. The characters could've been WAY better but that was due to the series being axed, interesting characters that were just introduced where never expanded upon, The MC got a insane power boost at the end with no proper reasoning, interesting characters were left untouched and were never actually given a proper introduction.

The series definitely had potential, but was definitely overshadowed by MH, andA with the series getting axed the ... mangaka had to rush the entire story into around 4 chapters. Characters remained undeveloped and story left with many plot holes. No fault to the mangaka, would've loved to see the story progress normally.

This manga is flipping amazing, Be warned it is not for the light-hearted.

Firstly the,
plot/story:
The plot follows the life of a boy named Punpun, We as the reader will watch as our protagonist grows up throughout his life. Unlike most realistic Japanese manga, this story shows the darker side of Japanese society, the issues with alcohol, domestic abuse, gender inequality, and social norms. It does not hold back when showing these darker sides and I am so glad it does not. The readers will follow and observe Punpun's troubles with growing up, starting with child-like problems such as his first crush, and as the ... story goes on the issues become much more serious and impactful.

Characters/Dialogue:
The characters in this manga are very realistic, each character is struggling with their issues and trauma that even the protagonist Punpun is unaware of. This gives the story a much more realistic and heavy feel because the audience becomes more aware of the world that is created and the people living in it. The dialogue and conflicts in the story are also incredibly realistic, instead of forgetting about a conflict once the issue is solved (like most manga) Oyasumi Punpun shows the very real actions that people will take, the characters hold grudges, they get traumatized, they are still impacted by the past mistakes and choices made in the story.

Art:
The art is beautiful, Inio Asano's art style is so unique and vibrant that the reader would be able to recognize his art at a simple glance. Throughout the story, we can see the art getting more, and more detailed showing that the protagonist is growing up, and now paying attention to more of his surroundings. In some panels, the art took my breath away leaving me in awe, but at the same time, it gave me a feeling of dread and unease.

Conclusion:
Probably my favorite manga of all time, would recommend it to others, but be warned that this is a VERY HEAVY manga and it is not for those in a weak mental state. (I had to take multiple breaks when reading the manga).
