The final season of Magia Record was an emotional roller coaster that made a conclusion far more satisfying than the ending of the original Madoka Magica series. While the character development might not have been as good, Magia Record had an improved setting that expanded on more of the Puella Magi universe. While keeping most of the original darkness of Madoka Magica, it also incorporates many themes and feelings present in “original” magical girl series, such as friendship and hope.
It’s honestly crazy how one anime girl’s quest to find her sister led to a surreal rabbit hole of teamwork, chasing hope, meeting the original cast,
...
and leading to an amazing, emotional battle against despair and a terrifying deathmoth (which somehow becomes even scarier).
Making the last four episodes into a single season might be irritating to some, but releasing them like this allowed the animators to fill these four episodes with astonishing and fluid animation which surpasses that of the previous seasons. The final battle is amazingly deep, as iconic characters experience and overcome past and present drama as they fight against a potential apocalypse.
Magia Record featured both losses and lessons that led to a bittersweet ending that somehow ends on a happier note. While we won’t spoil what happens, we can say that this story is better made then the original series (excluding Rebellion, which is still a masterpiece).
Watch the ultimate conclusion of the suffering of megucas. (At least until Walpurgis Rising)

This anime is amazing. It is essentially Precure but with a heavy emphasis on music and rock bands. It even shares the same composer of several Precure tracks, Yasuharu Takanashi, giving Show by Rock a similar feeling.
The world of MIDI City is incredibly detailed, its brightly coloured cityscape and CGI give a sense of both modernity and nostalgia. Pacing is really nice, the story rarely lingers too long on one scene.
The main characters are so cute, and they have no idea how much they have been in this anime series. Cyan and Plasmagica have some of the coolest designs we’ve seen in anime girls.
...
They are strong and capable, and have actual personalities instead of being objectified. Even the side characters are just as brightly coloured and memorable. The boy band SHINGANCRIMSONZ makes for a memorable side group, they’re pretty humorous. Maple is a silly little mascot who makes for a likeable manager. The villainous Dagger is our personal favourite, one of the coolest and most intimidating anime villains ever. Every moment he appears, he exerts terrifying menace. You can even feel the fear of the characters when in his presence. Criminally underrated. (pun on criminal)
The story has a great balance on comedy and music-making. The mystery and anticipation of the main story is amazing, making the perfect buildup to the climax. Battles in this anime are very few and far between, (around 4, if we remember correctly), but when they happen, they are breathtaking. The glass shattering sky when everything becomes 3D is incredibly well animated, and the first dark monster battle was so exciting and well-made that it felt like final battle quality. Of course, the actual final battle is even better.
This is one of the few anime that actually feels like an anime, with the cons being almost nonexistent. Exactly why Show by Rock is obscure is beyond us. We highly recommend this masterpiece, so that it gets the recognition it deserves.

If you want to know where High Guardian Spice came from, here is the original anime.
When we first found Release the Spyce, we expected it to be a cute, lighthearted series about strong anime girls fighting evil forces, like Precure and Sailor Moon. For the first five episodes, everything seemed fine, and we thought RTS was actually a great anime.
But then, episode 6 happened.
Episode 6 was where everything was turned on its head, as the seemingly lighthearted series turned into sexist fanservice.
Episode 6 revealed the backstory of two of the anime girls, Hatsume and Theresia. It is revealed that in their childhood, the anime girls
...
were kidnapped, abused, and held for ransom by random thugs who aren’t even major villains. Hatsume and Theresia were only children, and they couldn’t fight back against the thugs beating them.
The thugs received the ransom from kidnapping Hatsume, and they sold Theresia to the criminal organization. Repeat: they SOLD them. The thugs even got away unpunished, even though they abused young anime girls.
We just witnessed torture porn. Even High Guardian Spice never became this bad.
We tried to watch episode seven, but they made Hatsume and Theresia’s strained relationship a major plot point. We knew that even if the two anime girls were to make up, that wouldn’t stop the fact that their lives were ruined by sexist karma houdini thugs we only ever see in a flashback, and are likely still running rampant, harming more anime girls.
Disappointing, because it could have been a good anime, if the creators didn’t have a sick interest in fanservice and torturing anime girls.
