The writing is poor honestly, a lot of the weird things are just played up to be quirky for the sake of it because thats whats expected of JoJo.
I'm not gonna judge it by the manga because its different and the manga's problems in the story have to be adapted over so the fact Araki kinda makes an on running gag that doesn't apply (Mista not liking the number 4 because in Japanese 4 sounds like death, it doesn't work because thats a Japanese exclusive thing and Mista is Italian and in universe speaking Italian so he should be scared of the number 13, basically
...
it makes Araki seem like a bit of a hack writer) and then of course the whole Fugo not being used as a traitor because of Araki losing a friend at the time is a bit problematic because he clearly had a plan but still thats just the problem with part 5 and not the anime.
The anime for part 5 really drags and its a shame because it has a good concept and script to go off but just like part 2, the anime adaptation is quite problematic. The pacing is a bit issue as it just feels like its trying to be "funny JoJo", to explain what my gibberish means its just in part 3 there would be long pauses of characters (Mainly Joseph) with a big overdone reaction going "OH MAI GAHHH" but part 5 doesn't have characters who talk like that so its just alot of "enemy did enemy thing and that is an issue!" or "how will [character] go on!".
The best parts of part 5 might be dampened in my mind by the masses making really irritating remarks that show a lack of understanding of their own damn show/manga, the best example is no one understands what Requiem Stands do (because Araki doesn't go into it and leaves it pure and mysterious, not on purpose its just because he didn't know what he was doing and just lucked out) and so they go "Golden Experience Requiem is unbeatable" when what we are shown is:
-after contact GER activates and reduces outcomes to zero
-GER's ability activates faster than Diavolo can move
-GER punches a building and breaks just a brick
From this we gather Diavolo could have won if he time skipped because of how his ability works and he would have won, but he already thought we won and wouldn't need to, further more he doesn't know what Requiem would do for anyone (outside Silver Chariot at this point I suppose) so he couldn't anticipate anything but still hurt Giorno (and no the punch wasn't reduced to zero because he still has his wounds after the fight). Basically any one faster than an athletic human and strong enough to out punch a man who can break a brick would beat Giorno even if they let him get to Requiem, fodder to even JoJo characters as Jotaro would bend him over and ruin him.
Man fuck JoJo I'm over it, go watch something worthwhile or something, even.
