So, somewhere once there had to be someone who came up with fanservice. Probably it started pretty innocently till one day we ended up with strike witches. Similarly somewhere someday someone came up with harems... and this is the biggest and worst harem series I have ever seen.
I started watching this series as it was one of the few legal series I could watch and it was getting all kind of high grades in the review section, so I was expecting it to be a pretty fine series. Now, I could tell you all kind of stuff about the story, but the other reviews cover
...
of all that already pretty well, so allow me to only highlight the weaknesses and strengths of this anime.
First of all, the story and characters are captivating enough to make it quite an enjoyable anime to watch. The problems comes from the fact that all the characters are forced into the biggest harem ever created which makes it impossible to develop any relations in the series at all... making the story itself quite shallow as it switches from one character to the next. In the end there are a few characters who go through some character development, but as it never causes any cross-character developments it all ends up looking incredibly shallow. Put differently, you can enjoy this anime whilst watching it and even have a good number of laughs, but the second you pause it... it's all over, whereas for a series to be good you would still feel sad at a sad part or happy at a good part.
Now the redeeming part is that the main character is strong, like so strong that no matter who he's going to battle or what kind of challenge you give him, he's going to pull it off without any serious trouble. On one hand that makes the story quite shallow as I already described, but on the other hand it also creates space for lots of light hearted comedy. In a way it makes the show a lot more enjoyable, because most shows deepen the story at the cost of enjoyment... is that worth it? Personally I do think so, because in the end that causes you to care a lot more for the characters which results in a far more enjoyable finale, but it did allow this show to hit an easy 8 for enjoyment.
All in all I wouldn't recommend this show to anybody... except if you want to mindlessly spend time without getting bored or if you're some huge kind of fan of harems... though if you have ever had a good healthy real life relationship I doubt you will enjoy the harem part which is the biggest part of the show *.
* (please please don't take insult at this, I just mean that to enjoy this you have to have some kind of shallow/different view of relationships then most people have... and the only situation i can think of where that's applicable is with people who have never had a good RL relationship, but I might be forgetting other groups as well... :S )

Just to balance out all the blazingly positive reviews, the show definitely was quite unique - which isn't per definition a good thing) and the plot did come together well enough, but in no way did it get past the "fair" level. It was enjoyable enough to keep watching, but at the end I was expecting some kind of grand finale which didn't deliver. Still, I do give them credit for giving a *very* basic explanation for the magic girl phenomenon rather than none at all, like most shows do, but still it lacked in my humble opinion in the two most important departments; story
...
and characters. Really, the only thing it absolutely excelled in was uniqueness without a too bad story, which for most avid anime fans might be enough reason to love it as much as they do, I guess. Either way, if you need an in depth review, there enough of those on the site, but I just wanted to show a glimpse of the other side of the anime.
Oh and, as far as the art goes, yeah, sure, it might be totally intentional and totally unique, but that still doesn't make it beautiful or anything. That's exactly the same thing that often happens with modern art. Oh well, just wanted to add that to explain the 5 I gave to the art.

All with all a pretty typical shoujo manga, albeit being quite a bit too smut for that. The main character is a typical ugly girl which turns out to be extremely beautiful and the main male character is an arrogant playboy with a good side to him.
Story - Typical, but fairly interesting and there is enough development to make it interesting, but not enough to make it stand out.
Character - The character development itself is quite good, however quite a number of times the choices and reactions of the characters seemed to be a bit overdone, which was quite frustrating. Also the main
...
male character on himself is quite unrealistic, as he hates women, yet is a playboy (can't go into that too deep, as it would be a spoiler, but lets just say its extremely unrealistic)
Enjoyment - The story would have been quite enjoyable, if not for the smut moments which would spoil it a bit (especially up to chapter 30).
Overall it isn't a bad read, but it's nothing special either.

Psychic Academy has a pretty straightforward story without any really original plot developments, but enjoyable none the less. My only complain about the whole plot is the ending, namely a HUGE CLIFF HANGER, some might say that I spoiled the series by saying that, but I think you ought to know xD *See REAL spoiler at end of post*. Secondly I can't stand unnecessary fan-service (despite being a boy), but that might be just me.
Now down to how I gave my ratings:
Story: Worth a 7 if it would have had an ending, this way a 6
Art: Can't stand all the fan-service, so a 6 instead
...
of a 7 again
Characters: Simply good (7), but nothing special
Enjoyment: Once again could have been a 7, but the fan service just distracted too much from the story making me give it a 6.
Overall: Because of the ending -1 and because of fan-service -1 as well, so a 5.
Post Scriptum: I have lately been trying out various reviews styles to see which type people regard as helpful, so this is a pretty plain review without any story specific spoilers.
***SPOILER***
I hate non-happy endings, and some agree with me and some don't... either way; The romance doesn't end in a happy way, if I am right to believe that the main character realises who he loves at the end (not entirely sure) than the person who he loves disappeared.

This review might not be really helpful, but as there wasn't any review out there I thought I might just as well share my thoughts. The story is totally worthless except for the last two 'episodes', it mainly only consists of fan-service and naturally story is totally irrelevant to fan service. As its a picture drama the art is naturally poor, and the number of pictures was even low compared to other picture drama's I have seen. Sound was just ok, though I think it reused most music from the main series. In the picture drama Louise and Saito are playing a theatre piece and
...
their characters are interesting to some extend and I in the last two 'episodes' there is something (at least I smiled for the first time) which is enjoyable to some extend, however due to the first few episodes which were pure fan service I went down from a 4-5/10 to a 3/10. Overall I think it's not worth watching, though it won't take a lot of time to watch either.

The following is true for all three seasons of Zero no Tsukaima. Overall there are over a million points to complain about, yet it was simply too much fun too watch xD. This review should be quite spoilerless, except for the very last line (which is a relatively small spoiler).
==Story 7/10==
The Story is quite straightforward up the point of sometimes even being downright childish. At some points during the series this can slightly distract from the story itself, however there is an overall plot binding everything together enough for it be worth more than just a 6. Still I would definitely not advise anybody to
...
watch it for any in-depth plot development.
==Art 6/10==
The art is fairly good in general, but at quite a number of points during the series cartoon like art is used (not sure about the name). Though this sometimes is enjoyable, I personally regarded this as being quite distracting at times. Still I would suggest you look for another review if you're concerned about the art.
==Sound 7/10==
... no clue... (I don't care about music) ... It felt slightly repetitive at times, but all the music had one single theme binding it together, which IMHO is quite a good thing.
==Character 7/10==
First of all the characters seem not to develop at all and the same situations are used over and over again. Despite of this one can not be stopped from loving and hating the characters at the same time. Loving because they are all adorable presented and hating them for reasons as messing up the main romantic relationship in the series and the main characters inability to stick with his choices. None the less the characters seem to develop over the course of all three seasons, so it wasn't as bad as I was fearing, though - if there is a fourth season - it would be cool to have a season without a fallback in character development, like the ones which happened at the beginning of the 2nd and 3rd season.
==Enjoyment 10/10==
The best aspect of this series xD, while watching I simply had to have a smile on my face. At various points the series actually crossed the border of what I find enjoyable as far as ecchi stuff goes and I have hated the series for the nearly-harem aspect. Despite the fact that I am a boy, I more than hated it how the main character was kissing every single girl in the series, but still I can't deny that I more than greatly enjoyed the rest. SPOILER!!!:(I wouldn't have been so positive if not for the main characters getting closer and closer in the end.)

Overall one of the very best animes I have seen ever.
Overall:
Overall I believe this is the best anime I have seen, but thats partly because I like the theme of it. Still both story and art technically it really is a good anime.
Story:
Well throughout worked story, even though sometimes a bit hard to follow, partly because of the complicated characters.
Art:
The art was simply outstanding, even though the the colour choice of the other side is sometimes - in my opinion - frustrating.
...
Sound:
Good... but nothing really outstanding
Character:
Well worked out, but sometimes a bit too hard to follow.
Enjoyment:
If enjoyment has anything to do with how interesting a show is than this show deserves a 10, but during this anime there were too many points were it was extremely interesting, but not really fun.
PS. Low level spoiler
For people like me who want to know whether a story has a happy end. It is. But it does not statisfies all questions.
