When I saw the previews for this, I was like "OMG, this looks so cute!" Marked my calendar and was excited for it to start... On the surface, it sounded right up my alley. A young romance between a Yakuza's Granddaughter and one of his thugs with a kind heart. This could have been adorable, or heartbreaking if they took it another direction. :( I could even look past the age difference if they didn't also make him her guardian. I get that they aren't related, but in this situation, he's pretty much her father or brother. I kept watching, thinking that maybe they
...
would go down the route of familial love. She had it before her parents passed, but Keiya may not have and could be mistaking the love he has for her as romantic love, rather than as a caretaker or guardian. There are themes brought up, including different kinds of love, and that would have fit in well with the theme. Both of them learn that there is more to love than just romantic love and finding that family bond together. They can love each other but it doesn't have to be romantic. I thought there was a tiny chance it could go that way in the end, so I pushed through, but no... they just doubled down and she basically agreed to sleep with him.
I saw in the comments where others are making comparisons to shows with a similar age difference. Yeah, they are out there and sometimes it's a little awkward, but it's also not wrong. There are a lot of older guys that flirt with younger ladies and in many cultures, it's normal. The issue I have with this show is the role Keiya plays in her life. This isn't just someone in the house, a friend, or a colleague, this is her caretaker and/or father figure. I just can't get past it, sorry. In 5 years, no one would care about their age difference but at that age, she is still learning and growing. She's unable to experience the world outside of Keiya. He wants to be her Father, Mother, Brother, AND her Lover. Plus, this last episode, kind of makes it seem like he's been in love with her since she got there, which again, familial love, yeah, for sure, but they take it the romantic route, and shouldn't.
I haven't read the manga, so I have no basis for comparison. These are just my thoughts on the show and I'm disappointed. The animation is not the best. It has a style, but I'm just not a big fan.
Also, She is kidnapped, held at gunpoint, almost raped, and in a water car crash. How is she this calm? It's like all of these events are just normal to her. Yeah, Yakuza, but that doesn't mean she has to be emotionless.
Anyways, I don't want to think about this anymore. Removing it from my CR Wishlist and moving on.

I wasn't sure what I was in for when I started watching this. It has a bit of a Fruits Basket vibe, especially in some of the darker moments. Miyo is a treasure! She went through so much and deserves to be happy! I appreciate the depth the writer brought to each character. It really made a kind of small world feel so warm and real. On top of that, the artwork is stunning! I caught myself taking it all in during some of the much-needed moments of reflection.
I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for some drama and romance! Not to compare
...
it again to Fruits Basket, but FB is one of my favs, and I feel that the art style, themes, and characters could all fit comfortably in that same world. I saw someone else in the reviews say it's just another Cinderella clone. There is a step-sister, an evil stepmother, and an unwanted child who gets out to find happiness, but there are also demon-like "Grotest" fights, power users, political struggles and bloodline disputes. The "Prince" is a much deeper character than just a "Price Charming" and it's incredible to watch the growth between the two. Are there some similarities? Sure, absolutely, but this interpretation is just so much more.
It's like Cinderella with Demon Slayer aspects and the depth of Inception. Something like that. I really loved it, and recommend it!
Can't wait for Season 2! :)

I just found this show and it's adorable! Yeah, an age difference like that is challenging, especially at those ages, but in another 10 years, it won't matter. I dated someone 28 when I was 18, so I understand her feelings and struggles. If you can get past the age thing, though, it is a really sweet love story! and for all the haters talking about him being a creeper, he was a different person when they first met. He seemed numb to the world and she was his wake-up call. She even called him a creeper up front. Love can change you and for

him, it was for the better. I thought this was a sweet and very honest romance. I also have to agree with the other reviews, Rio deserves a spin-off of her own! She was a great wingman! :D

I had such high hopes for this show and have just been left with disappointment. I should have walked away the minute a specific item was acquired because it's used in just about every episode after with no real purpose. I don't want to get into spoilers, so that's the most I will say about that.
Honestly, I hate the trope where a fat guy guys thin and then everyone likes him. It takes more than looks and although I had hoped this would go beyond that, it's been nothing about his growth as a person, and stays focused on how shallow he and everyone
...
around him are. If you're pretty, you'll fit in, right? That's the moral of the story? As an overweight person myself, I find this message distressing.
The description gave me high hopes for an isekai unlike any other where the MC could travel between worlds. It's a cool concept! BUT THEY DO NOTHING INTERESTING WITH IT! Yea, he's a good guy, and he's strong. Yes, he steps up when others run away. Great, he's a good person. But he's good from the beginning and doesn't evolve. Sure, he gets stronger, but what's the arc? Confidence? After three bath episodes in a row, where nothing happened, I'm just done.
I'm so disappointed with this show. I really only gave it the score I did because of the initial concept, and the beautiful animation. And yes, it's stunning! The characters' eyes are entrancing! All of them!
The pro's certainly start with the animation... it's beautiful! If it had a better story, this show would be immaculate! The side characters are fairly well written, with unique characteristics and interesting dialog. There are some cute side stories, and the familiars' he contracts are super adorable, but I'm not watching for them.
This story could have been anything, but it turned out to be a shallow look at a fat guy who loses weight and then has to deal with all the hot girls coming on to him because he's now hot and doesn't know how to handle it. That's it... That's the story. He doesn't grow, there isn't a better moral to the story, and I rarely have anything new and exciting to look forward to.
With only 2 episodes left, I'm struggling to tune in. Quite the reverse of my initial excitement for this show.

This show is hot garbage.
The biggest issue is the gaggle of "Hot guy" mannequins with NO distinction or personality. To quote another reviewer, @Fia2727, "Men? Blander than the baby powder ... Each character just looks like the same default Sim repainted over and over again with a clown's tampon."
I pushed through this, just to see if maybe they would pull it through in the end, but... no... After 12 episodes, I can maybe identify 3 or 4 of them and even then, I have to question if I'm even looking at the right one, or if they are a "good guy," or "
...
suspect." I wasn't sure who was with which agency, who was helping the MC, or hitting on her, cause that was another thing that never went anywhere, LOL! I also didn't like how they treated her.
The only exception I have is the bodyguard. He was probably the most unique character in this show. While still being a "Hot guy" he was more of a wild card with a personality to match. The MC was bland and predictable. I'm kind of ok with that if the rest of the cast has personality. It allows the audience to relate with the MC.
The story is... ok... Given a different cast or setting, it might have been better. Waist of time. Avoid!
