Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san is about the depressing life of a company employee and how it gets better after he meets a kitsune called Senko. It's a sweet and wholesome story about the relationship that forms between the two main characters and how it gets stronger and stronger over time. Keep reading for a more detailed examination of the manga.
STORY: 8
At the beginning there wasn't a real plot, it was just a collection of events put into chapters but as time passed the author left some hints about the motives that caused Senko to meet Nakano (MC) and within the last few chapters the story
...
really started to take form. I can't wait to know what will happen next.
ART: 9
The art style of the manga is perfect for it's genre, it really express what the characters are feeling, and same for the paneling. It's very well thought out, it conveys perfectly the atmosphere present in the manga and it enhances the effects of the art style. The only thing to criticise are the body proportions, e.g. in a few panels the hands are humongous.
CHARACTERS: 9
The cast is quite wide but every character is fairly well designed, some better than others. For most of them a brief backstory would be appreciated, but lately there have been some changes and character development that will lead to some backstories. To keep this review spoiler free I won't add anything else to this.
OVERALL: 9
I really suggest reading this manga to everyone that needs some wholesomeness, but there's more to it that's been lurking behind the scenes so definitely expect it to become more interesting story-wise in the near future.

First of all, a short summary of what the story is about: the adventures of a girl who's afraid of animals after she joins the Breakwater Club, which consists in fishing and other similar activities.
If you enjoy fishing I highly recommend you read this manga, as it's very informative on the techniques used in various types of fishing as well as on the tools needed, but don't get discouraged if you know nothing about fishing, it's still worth a shot and you might pick interest in doing it yourself.
STORY: 8
As for the moment it's an episodic manga, in which you can see the growth of
...
every character and their relationships as you keep reading it. In general the story is that of a slice of life manga with well-executed comedy elements throughout, but it doesn't stop at that. As I already said, it's very detailed about fishing but it's also about problems connected to it, i.e. fishing laws and pollution caused by careless fishermen. It tries to spread awareness about it and it adresses the fact that it is a real problem that should be tackled accordingly.
ART: 8
The artwork is very fitting for the type of manga; it's realistic when it comes to the wildlife and it has a great touch to better the comedic gags. Overall, it helps making the manga more enjoyable to read.
CHARACTERS: 9
The characters individually are well designed and with good backstories (those who have it), but what I think is great about them is how harmoniously they work together in the manga. Their interactions feel natural and they add a touch of familiarity throughout the story.
ENJOYMENT: 10
Personally, I really enjoy it as I really like both fishing and the relaxing vibes of comedy/slice of life manga so this is exactly what I was looking for. I can't wait to get more of this, overall it has been a great experience.

I'll keep it short: this manga is a comedy/slice of life about ninja girls and, as of now, there's not much else to it.
Story: 7
The only drawback about the story is that it hasn't fully developed yet, so it's a bit lacking for now but I think it's necessary to build the scenery in which further events will occur. Overall it's pretty enjoyable, even though it's probably get better as time goes on and knowing the mangaka's other works I can only look forward to it.
Art: 9
The environment that's built up until now it's great, a simple, soothing style that fits perfectly with the genre.
...
I appreciate a lot how you rarely find a panel that isn't full, either with characters or their surroundings and this helps keeping you immersed in the story. Also, I love the facial expressions that come up from time to time.
Characters: 8
This is the main focus of this 22 (+5 extras) chapters: character introduction. The mangaka does a great job not to look repetitive in introducing new characters and I'd say that most of them are well-designed and pretty unique, with some exeptions. I'm not sure we got to see everyone that's going to be in the main cast, but I'd say that's pretty much it. Hopefully we'll get more backstories, especially on the older characters.
Overall: 8
Even if it's in its early stages, the manga is still quite enjoyable and charming. Definitely worth giving it a try if you like the genre or if you like the mangaka's other works.

I'll be honest, at first it caught my interest because of the artwork but I was worried that the story wouldn't have been as good. I am so glad to admit that my worries were for nothing, as this is by far one of the most well-balanced manga I've ever read - easily in my top 3. Here I'll try to explain you why I think so.
Let's start with a thought about its classification, what's the prevalent element in this manga? You'd think it's the horror one, but is it really true? I find that, while reading it, the amount of horror is an additional
...
part to a slice of life manga, in which the comedy elements are perfectly placed to balance out the scary parts. In more than a few chapters I found myself exquisitely surprised at how well they go together, bringing an impressive mixture of fun and terror.
So, what about the story? What makes it so great? I'll try to be as generic as I can to avoid spoiling anything. Initially, the story begins with the main character starting to experience paranormal activities and acting accordingly to make them stop, but as time goes on the focus shifts more on the characters growth and it makes it so that you can relate to them on what they're feeling and thinking in almost every situation. To put it simply, reading this manga feels like reading about a person trying to overcome a mental illness through a journey full of hardships and to me this is marvellous and a bit poetic.
As for the characters, even though some of them aren't really anything special you can tell that you need to have this contrast between wonderfully written characters, such as the main character, and someone more "normal" like her best friend for the story to keep the balance between the real world and the more obscure paranormal one. Also, I'm also very intrigued by the development that some side characters are going to have in the next chapters, but I'll stop here for now and say nothing more. Just be sure to look forward to it.
Lastly, the part that attracted me the most and got me to read this incredible manga: its art. The art style used for drawing the characters is one to be expected of a normal slice of life manga, with charming and soothing traits that make you think of having a good time reading a relaxing story about some everyday stuff. On the contrary, the monsters are gross-looking, surreal but so detailed that they almost look real at the same time, just like they should look like in a great horror themed painting. The greatness of the art shines when the two are shown together; the contrast gives off an atmosphere of darkness and despair hardly achievable with other techniques. Obviously, an all-realistic style is more fitting for an horror, but since the main objective of this manga is not to scare the reader, rather to make them feel uneasy, I believe that it achieves its purpose splendidly.
In conclusion, this manga is a roller coaster of emotions: it can make you feel sad, anxious and scared as well as happy, relieved and amused. I'm so glad I got to find such an unexpectedly brilliant manga. I am convinced that if it keeps up with this pace, it's going to be a true masterpiece, something that you shouldn't miss no matter what.
