This movie is intended as a companion feature to the 2006 TV anime Fate/Stay Night.

Adapting Fate/Stay Night's second route [Unlimited Blade Works], this movie rushes through the story from start to finish. It cuts most of what is redundant from what was shown in the 2006 TV anime, flittering from one key moment to the next. It emphasizes its differences from the [Fate] route and is somehow able to maintain a coherent plotline, despite its runtime.

This movie adapts the graveyard fight scene quite well, and the Archer storyline was also delivered faithfully. Thankfully, there aren't any spoilers ...

Mixed Feelings
This TV series is an attempt at adapting the [Fate] route from the visual novel Fate/Stay Night, the beginning of the Fate franchise as a whole. Overall, this project does a good job adapting elements from this route when it chooses to do so. Unfortunately, it does not always stay true to the plot of [Fate], occasionally bringing in storylines from the [Unlimited Blade Works] route and introducing new scenes detrimental to the experience.

It is hard to recommend this as someone's first experience with the Fate franchise, not because of the dated 2006-era production, but because of the flaws in the presentation of this story, ...
