Either series stars a character who albeit their status/skills/abilities, takes more of a back seat during storytelling. Usually, the episodes are novel-esque self-contained tales with a twist and/or some moral to tell, often opting to subvert expectations. Neither series caters to illusions about human nature. Episodes can end equally happy or sad, grim or thought provoking.
