Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (the first season at least) is pretty good at it's best and eh at it's worst.
Story: 7
The story is extremely cliched, but it was written when these type of stories with muscular men were popular. Phantom Blood (Part 1) is the biggest offender of a cliched story, with Jonathan having to save the world from the ultimate evil. Battle Tendency (Part 2) has a much better story, with Joseph and his gang finding more Stone masks (A vital plot object in part 1) created by a advanced race called the pillar men (Pillar people?) There are many slow parts that
...
seem to drag on though (Such as the Bruford and Tartus fight)
Art: 9
The art adapts the manga's bizarre style and cleans it up a bit. The manga is famous for using dynamic poses and dramatic sound effects, and the anime successfully translates those to animation. In the original TV airing of the series, there are many rough parts, but most streaming sites have the Blu-ray version with fixed art.
Sound: 9
The music in the anime is really good. Part 1's soundtrack has a fancy, orchestra sound, with Jonathan's theme reflecting his nobleness. Part 2's soundtrack is much less memorable to be honest. Both openings (Sono Chino Sadame and Bloody Stream) are great. The ending also uses the song Roundabout by Yes, which is mostly known for the "To be continued" meme.
Characters: 7
The characters vary between really good and absolutely terrible. Jonathan is extremely boring, with him simply being kind and noble. Joseph on the other hand is amazing. He uses mind tricks to confuse the enemy, rather than fighting most of the time. Dio is just not evil enough to be that good. If he was more evil, it would fit a bizarre adventure. The side characters are alright, but we have to talk about one character who especially is terrible.
Overall: 8
This anime is good. Part 1 is slow to get through, but it picks up at part 2. I highly recommend this anime.
The Ceasar Zeppeli Rant Zone:
SPOILERS FOR PART 2
Ceasar Zeppeli is a terrible character. He only exists for plot convenience. The only times he was useful was:
*Pulling Joseph up from the oil tower
*Pulling Joseph up from a cliff
*Having Joseph have a safe moment
Everyone likes Ceasar just because he had a tragic death. Araki (The author) doesn't even care much about Ceasar apart from his design
End of rant
