Suyaaaaa~
When I started watching Maoujou de Oyasumi I didn't really expect all that much, I thought it would be another meh moe show with some comedy thrown in every now and then. Instead I found myself laughing pretty much every minute that I was watching. The gags were great, the characters were well done, and the art / sound was amazing. There's no weird or uncomfortable fanservice either which was a huge plus for me.
Story 7/10:
Most of the story revolves around the princess and her hilarious antics when trying to find different ways to improve her sleep. The gags are pretty much always "Princess does
...
something crazy in order to get better sleep" but amazingly the individual gags are unique and entertaining enough that it doesn't get old.
In addition to the gags though, there's obviously something bigger at stake in the show which is hinted to throughout - the human and demon conflict. Throughout the show you learn more about the demons and how they aren't the evil beings that the humans make them out to be. I wish the show touched on this a little more, but hopefully if this show gets another season they'll build on this.
It's also really pretty heartwarming to see how the demons warm up to the princess and even though she's technically their hostage (although at times it seems more like they're her hostage) they genuinely care about her.
Art 9/10:
Doga Kobo knocked it out of the park with the art and animation. The princess' reactions were golden and she had so many different expressions and faces it was impressive. I'd also like to appreciate the fact that there were dozens of different kinds of demons that were all animated, adding variety and life to the castle. They could have picked like one cookie-cutter generic demon and cut + paste it but they didn't.
Sound 10/10:
Both the OP and ED were amazing, the OP is sung by the princess' VA and really captures the "fun" mood of the show. The ED is by ORESAMA and as you'd expect from them it's great. The ED expresses more of a sleepy / dreamy feeling which is fitting for the end of the episode.
In addition to the OP and the ED the voice acting was great, sound effects were great, I have no complaints.
Character 9/10:
The princess is obviously the highlight of the show, she will do ANYTHING to get a good nights sleep. She's consistent and shows some development throughout the show as she warms up to her demon captors. Her antics are hilarious, her character design is adorable, and she has so many great expressions throughout the show.
There's many other side characters, each of them was well done in my opinion. Harpy, Cubey, Demon lord, dog dude, Neo, Poseidon, Hypnos, etc... I found all them enjoyable and each had their moments when dealing with the princess' escapades.
Enjoyment 10/10:
I had an amazing time watching this show, it's downright ridiculous at times which helped keep it entertaining. The interactions between the Princess and the demons were hysterical. There's not really any drama or anything, it's just a cute comedy which is exactly what I wanted from the show.
Overall ~8.5/10:
While I wouldn't say that this show is for everyone, if you enjoyed cute comedies like Gabriel Dropout, Jashin-Dropkick, Machikado Mazoku, etc. then this show will be right up your alley. I'd definitely recommend checking out an episode or two and if you find the premise and gags enjoyable you'll be in for a delightful and adorable experience.

Review will contain minor spoilers, as I can't really express my thoughts about this show without covering some plot points.
Citrus has a LOT of problems, with the characters, with the writing, etc.... Can it be enjoyable at times? Sure. Are there decent yuri scenes? Sure. Is it a good show? I can see the appeal but in my opinion it's not a good romance and has extremely unrealistic characters and forced plot points.
Story 3/10:
The plot covers mostly the two main characters Yuzu and Mei and how their relationship develops. Their "relationship" abruptly starts with Yuzu being sexually assaulted by Mei in front of their school....
...
Yea sounds like a real great romance already I know. Later Yuzu finds out that Mei is now her step-sister and gets assaulted yet again.
But the amazing thing about Citrus is that the sexual abuse isn't even the worst part. As the show progresses there's not one, not two, but THREE love triangles thrown into the midst. Personally, I loathe love triangles; they're rarely done well and are usually terrible and feel like forced plot points in order to create drama. Citrus is no exception to this, majority of the drama in this show comes from the uncertainty in Yuzu and Mei's relationship and the drama that the numerous love triangles provide. It's almost like the writer had no idea how to progress the relationship between Yuzu and Mei at all and decided to throw in the love triangles in order to progress the relationship and the story. It doesn't feel natural, it feels forced and unrealistic.
So yeah, a romance that revolves around sexual abuse and love triangles is not a good one to me. There are some redeemable moments and a few times where the relationship actually progressed somewhat but those moments were overshadowed by the forced drama.
Art / Sound 6/10:
Animation and sound were average, nothing looked bad and there were even moments where the animation looked pretty solid which is why I'm giving this a slightly above average score.
Character 3/10:
Most of my problems with the story are related to the characters themselves and the decisions that they make for the sake of advancing the story. Hence this gets the same score as the story, I'll cover a little bit more of why I disliked majority of the characters in Citrus. Yuzu and Harumi were probably the only 2 characters I didn't outright dislike in the show.
First let's start out with Mei. Mei is your cold "student council president" type character. Throughout the story she has a problem with expressing her emotions and is both physically and emotionally abusive to Yuzu. She's overly cold and overall a shitty person. Personally I hated her, she was manipulative, abuse, and overly reacted when she didn't get her way.
Next let's cover the three love triangle members, Matsuri, Himeko, and the Tachibana sisters. None of these characters added anything worthwhile and were in the story pretty much for the sole purpose of creating a love triangle in order to progress the story and introduce drama. Matsuri was an evil (Not going to spoil what she does, but it's pretty appalling especially considering her age) middle schooler, Himeko was an uppity brat, and the Tachibana sisters felt like they were there because the writer had no idea how to close Yuzu and Mei's relationship issues.
To summarize my thoughts on the characters: When 3/4 of your supporting characters are there simply for the sake of creating drama with love triangles it's going to be an absolute dumpster fire. None of these characters saw any meaningful development, the story progressed the same for all 3:
Character introduced -> Love triangle causes relationship issues between Yuzu and Mei -> Triangle gets resolved and now said character supports Yuzu and Mei's relationship.
Because of this and Mei being such a loathsome character I'll give the characters a 3/10.
Enjoyment 5/10:
I gave this a higher score because it was actually kind of entertaining. I didn't get bored of the show and while the plot points were pretty bad, I found myself interested in seeing what would happen next and if the show would somehow redeem itself or turn into even more of a dumpster fire.
There were also some decent yuri scenes, and as a fan of the genre I appreciated that.
Overall 4/10:
Citrus is poor as far as romance goes - there's no way a romance based solely off of abuse and love triangles can be good. But at the same time the show remains somewhat entertaining despite being such a bad romance. If you decide to watch this show, don't expect a good romance / drama and you might come out enjoying it so some extent. That being said, I still wouldn't recommend this unless you can find enjoyment in watching trainwrecks or if you like yuri so much that the story doesn't matter at all.

I'll start out by saying that Garakowa was better than I'd expect from a movie rated ~6/10 on mal. If you can deal with somewhat convoluted, confusing plotlines and enjoy sci-fi / cute girls it's possibly worth a watch.
Story 6.5/10:
As you've probably already seen from other reviews the plot is considered to be pretty convoluted and things are not exactly explained in detail. In my opinion, it's not too hard to put everything together but the movie doesn't exactly spell everything out for you. The story focuses on the 3 main girls and explores the nature of the world and what exactly the
...
girls (primarily Remo) are. The world is pretty cool and unique but can be kind of shallow considering it's just an hour long movie. I'd say they did well with the time that they had though.
It's not as convoluted as some people make it out to be but it's also not the psychological masterpiece that others say it is. It's just a decent sci-fi story about cute girls learning more about Remo and the world they're in with some emotional moments.
Art 7/10:
The art and animation were pretty decent but not amazing. Pretty average for A-1 I'd say.
Sound 6/10:
Pretty much the same as art to a lesser degree. Decent but nothing stuck out to me.
Character 5.5/10:
On one hand I'd say that Garakowa does an ok job of character development in the ~ 60 minutes it has. On the other it's still shallow. Each girl has their own personality and all, but some development points in the story feel kind of forced and sudden. Remo was really the only one who had something beyond being an "antivirus program with a personality".
Enjoyment 6/10:
It's a pretty short movie so I didn't really get bored while watching it, but at the same time it's not super noteworthy. It does well to initially capture your attention and while it lulls a little bit in the middle with some slice of life stuff nothing drags on too long. There's some decent emotional moments and twists but nothing super impacting.
Overall ~6/10:
Overall Garakowa is a decent movie and while it's not a "must watch" by any means I'd say it does well with the little time it has. It's not super memorable but if you're bored and want a decent sci-fi story I'd say it's worth a watch.
