Fire Punch: an unapologetically crude manga that focuses on protagonist Agni, a boy with regenerative powers who becomes physically and emotionally consumed by Doma's flames; an inextinguishable flame. After losing his sister and his village, Agni, constantly burning alive, sets out to kill the man responsible, Doma. My interest in the series was set ablaze at the beginning and did not extinguish until I had finished the last chapter.
Story 9/10
The story is a straightforward revenge story that ends up off the rails.
An action-tragedy steeped in dark humor. A grimace quickly turns into a chuckle and vice versa.
Art 10/10
Tatsuki Fujimoto is amazing. It's difficult
...
for me to expand on it. The rough style helps contribute to the fast-past action. Many beautiful full-page panels are dropped during fight scenes, which are aplenty, or during an emotional slap-in-the-face moment.
Character 9/10
The cast filled with big personalities. Main character and side character meet? BOOM! Two side characters are interacting? BOOM! Each person has a strong personality ,
but sometimes leads to exhausting moments where the character's quirk becomes a nuisance.
Enjoyment 10/10
An existential crisis mixed with gore, taboo, and dick jokes. Fire Punch is a high-octane action-tragedy-dark-comedy that leans into the crazy.
