Cross Ange: Tenshi to Ryuu no Rondo
|
Girls who are physically different from the rest of Humanity and are pawns in the hands of forces beyond their control (and, for some part, understanding) fight with (apparently) no better hope than that of a painless death. Healthy amount of fan service. Dark mood. Enemies coming from The Outside. However, Cross Ange is considerably darker and the scope is likely to be broader.

How life and art are related? Is it a good idea to blur the boundary between them? Neither title approaches these questions directly, but the creators of both definitely meditated on them. Needless to say that it looks most likely that the Kyousou Giga creators have seen Sennen Joyuu.

And the second part, Sayonara no Tsubasa, look very similar - 2 girls fight monsters with music. Macross Frontire is part of a larger universe, so Symphogear, after the first episode, looks like a lighter version.
