This is pretty much a prequel of what happened right before the main story. It doesn't explain anything or introduce anything, and could probably feel confusing to those who aren't familiar with the series, but I feel like you could watch this before you watch Tortured Souls, after, or not at all and wouldn't miss much. I chose before.
I haven't played the Corpse Party games, read the mangas, or watched the anime, but from what I can tell, in the simplest way I can put it, there was a murder at a school a while back, which is what you see in the beginning of
...
this ova, and now those children haunt the school. Then the main characters somehow find themselves in that school.
That's what I believe happens in the actual story, this ova, however, is pretty much showing the characters lives the night before this happens. Showing that they all lived a normal happy life before things went bad shit crazy for them.
There wasn't much of a story here, but I did enjoy the gore in the beginning, at least I know what to expect throughout the rest of the series.

Another really had me anxious to watch the next episode. At first, the first few episodes ran a little slower filling me with more and more questions about this and that, and if this is connected to that. It was a little annoying before, but they created questions that had me really curious, drawing me to the next episode hoping to find the answer to something.
The story starts off with you finding out that something serious happened in the past (about 26 years ago), and the main character asks around but before he gets an answer something happens or the subject changes, and we're left
...
with vague and incomplete answers, almost nothing. Eventually things start progressing when events start happening in the present which is when the story gets real interesting, having me asking more questions while getting answers to others, but nothing was ever what I expected. No matter how many times I guessed and change my guess, I was always wrong, leading to a plot twist at the end that I would've never guessed.
Though by the time the anime ended there were a few questions still left unanswered, like how or why all of this started, when the climax hit, I wasn't concerned about that, I was more worried about how they were going to end it.
I recommend this to those who likes gore, suspense, and surprises.

I really liked this one. After two episodes, I knew I was hooked. I love an anime with blood and gore, and this show delivered, but it gave a lot more, the story was well written and instead of just waiting to see someone get killed, I was actually really interested in this story, even more than usual. I enjoyed the thrill, the suspense, and the shock of finding out who died, who killed them, where, and why, and also seeing how the characters develop the mental state that drove them to murder. And the curse was the most interesting thing, with each time the
...
story shifted, you get a little bit more information about it, which just added to the suspense.
I'll admit that I got a little lost and confused and frustrated after like episode 5 (when the story reset for the first time), but then it started to make sense, and I liked how each of the story "arcs" showed the end, then showed how it got to that point, but also each arc was different, but connected to each other in the long run. What blew me away the most was how, like the end of the arcs were shown at the beginning of the arc, the very end of the series was connected to the beginning of the series in a way that I completely forgot about... BRILLIANT!
I found out that there is another season, and I kinda hope they continue from where this one left off, but if it goes a different route, I'm still pretty excited to check it out. See you guys in the next season.
