I don't follow anime as much as everyone else seems to, and I saw a couple of people I knew had watched this and talked about it, so I decided to take a look as well!

After watching this, I looked this up and I had learned that this OVA had a MEGATON of hype behind it. Now I know why people bothered watching this.

None of "the obvious main plot line" was explained at all during the OVA. During this episode, you see glimpses that appear to surround the ACTUAL story, but most of the OVA is spent watching a pretty decent look on how small ... things can change friendships. That subplot is actually really nice and gives a real-world feeling to the episode.

But for what Black★Rock Shooter was actually supposed to be about, in the whole 52 minutes it was given, NOTHING was revealed. Just some short decently animated action sequences. The part that irks me about these scenes is that they are obviously from a different dimension of the world in this show. It's very anime style action with high shooting and girls with huge-ass weapons fighting fast. I enjoyed the real-world part of this OVA, but near the end, it becomes clear that things aren't going to stay real.

Overall, whatever people were expecting from this OVA probably didn't come to fruition. In a very simple way to put it, it was sequel-bait. Nice to watch, but the end gives NO conclusion whatsoever.
