I grew up very fascinated by animation, having unknowingly watched Kimba The White Lion as an infant, Fantasia at four years old and experiencing the golden age of Disney in the 90's. As a teenager I clung to Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. Later, I would stay up late eating gas station hot dogs watching Adult Swim during summer break. I had no idea what anime was but I knew what it looked like. I was captivated by the aesthetics, the subject matter, its iconography. When I went to college I had an awakening thanks to the new availability of anime through streaming services as well as my study of film and television. Shortly thereafter I began budding as an otaku, collecting, organizing and admiring the culture of Japanese animation all set to the backdrop of a history inexplicably linked with the country of Japan and its place in the story of humanity.
I shy away from nothing when it comes to anime and manga. Curious by nature, the call of adventure lures me in and I absorb it all for better or worse. As I learn more, I grow and there's nothing more exciting than this life!
A GUNPLA casual builder, I also collect figures. The room in my house deemed "The Anime Room" is spilling over.
I am always eager to make friends and talk about anime, manga and otaku culture. If reading is to your liking, I write a blog on my website, which you can find in my MAL profile page here. ^_^

I like our conversations and im glad, that we can exchange our hobbys. So how did your Journey start into the world of Anime/Manga? :)
Well I started first also collecting DVDs of animes, but they are way to expensive for my budget (atleast in Germany )
I buy me some manga like every 2 months and you could say I´m pretty addicted with collecting stuff.
I collect these stuff for like atleast 9-10 years, how long are you collecting these stuff?
Oh, I heard of the fire in one of the Studios of Kyoto Animation, but didn`t know that it was attacked. They are doing an amazing work and im excited to see some new things from them.
Okay, im going to set Sound of the Sky on Plan to Watch and watch it when I have the time :)
Is there any other recommendations you have? ^^ (not asking for one genre just generally)
When it comes to Slice of Life and Mystery series, I like some classics like Suzumiya Haruhi (also Hyouka, because I have a guilty pleasure for all things done by Kyoto Animation, it always looks amazing)
I dont know Sound of the Sky, but maybe I should give it a read sometimes,
I know I also wouldn't be able to just choose one film, but LotR is indeed a masterpiece, I also really like Deadpool, Kick-Ass and like every Disney/Pixar movie. XD
I've not looked into it to deep, but I think your dad is right. The fact that it's depressing doesn't matter for me, I've seen more depressing ones. I just felt like the ending was such a weird one, like your missing half of the movie. It doesn't have to be a happy end, but a ending would be nice.
Yeah I agree, it was a bit frustrating for me, he gave up on all those great girls to choose his sister and then they just end it. I know there is heavily hinted that they still love eachother, but still. I would have been fine with him choosing Ruri Goko as well. She was such a interesting character. I've been reading the LN and I have the Games as well, in the game you can end up with all the girls. It's just very hard for me to keep reading the LN and I've been reading it for over 2 years now I think. It's weird it says the LN is published again, be I would have sworn it was done already. There where 12 volumes, weird. :o
I have no idea, I think the first volume should be out, but I'm reading online, so no idea if It's also available in the west.
Haha nice, I'll look into the The Thing then. What is your favorite movie?
I'm not the biggest fan of open endings, but Kimi no Na Wa was very good, I enjoyed 5 centimeters per second a bit less.
What did you think of the ending of Oreimo? Haha well I have seen some others, but most are pretty bad, and wouldn't be worth watching unless you have intrest in those kind of anime. I would say "Siscon Ani to Brocon Imouto ga Shoujiki ni Nattara" is a very nice and lovely manga about brother and sister falling in love. I't doesn't go far, it's just really cute and I wonder if people would still disapprove their relationship after reading it. (it's still being written). Yeah in the past Incest was pretty normal, especially in the royal families.
It sounds interesting, I'll listen to the TED talk, Maybe that would be a book I'm willing to read. :o
Haha no problem. ^^
I usually like tension more than jumpscares and such. As soon as you see the demon/monster or whatever it's not scary anymore. That's why I like the Blair Witch project, have you seen it?
I see I'll look into it, after Higursashi I'm gonna watch something more easygoing so maybe after that. I also need to watch The Thing someday. I have seen most well known horror movies, but The Thing still not.
Body and gender swapping also sounds interesting, I've only seen it happen in Kimi No Na Wa.
Thanks!
It depends on where you draw the line. I would say Koi Kaze is the best. It has a very mature approach to the topic, it's a bit slow, but if you don't mind that it's good. Yosuga no Sora goes a bit further, but only the last arc is interesting. If you want something more light Oreimo might be a good choice. It's a very typical harem anime though.
Yeah I have been a big horror movie fan in the past, until I saw almost all good ones and they stopped scaring me. Usually the story of horror anime isn't good, but with Psychological horror the stories are usually better. I really like those that give you a uneasy feeling, instead of making you feel scared. I've seen A Cure for Wellness in the cinema, it was okay, it was a bit weird, but atleast it was unique in a way.
Haven't heard of those, but no more in a controversial relationship way. Like forbidden relationships, because they are family. It's interesting because it give you something to think about. A bit of moral vs feeling matter.
Yeah true, I just grab anime from all over the place. Higurashi is from 2006, while I also plan on watching the latest spring/summer anime's I've been interested in soon.
Never heard of Claymore, it sounds interesting, is the anime also good?
I've seen the anime of Made in Abyss, it's one of my favorites I really look forward to the sequel movie.
I haven't heard of any of those movies, I'll look into them.
That sounds cool, I also always want to see a anime movie in a theater/cinema someday.
I finished the first season of Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni this weekend. It's a psychological horror anime. it was pretty good. It wasn't scary nor really disturbing, only one scene kind of disturbed me. Well I've already seen so many horror movies in the past I became pretty immune.
As for things that catch my intrest, well I'm not really picky and try to mix up genres. I can really enjoy a good romantic drama, but also some psychological horror or comedy. I do like to watch more controversial anime's once in a while. How about you? ^^
I'm not to keen on cold weather, but it beats the hot summer we had >w<
What anime/manga are you currently working on? :)
How are you doing? :)
