Urasekai picnic immediately throws us all into the mysterious yet frightening world of unknown as if the author wants us to be fully immersed into the absurdity of the situation, where we share the same confusion and emotion with the characters.
There was not much about this anime that grabbed my interest when I first saw the title and cover. I just saw a hot blonde chick holding a Makarov. And that was just enough for me to take a peek at what this was all about. I was expecting your average junk food Isekai copy-and-paste story but boy was I wrong. I understand that there
...
were many plot holes in the first episode but I don't really mind it at all because I think the story will naturally place the puzzle pieces together and solve the unknowns as the story and character progresses together.
I think this is gonna be somewhat of a mystery, Adventure, and a little bit of horror mixed with dementia type anime. I absolutely do not crave for dementia genre anime but I don't hate or avoid it by any means.
Now, for the animation and audio, I thought it was a solid 8/10 with the audio winning over the animation for the most part. The animation isn't mediocre but not amazing either, sorta average. The unfitting CGI doesn't bother me that much. But the audio and music on the other hand, I thought it was pretty good. the sound effects of the monsters and the OST in the background of different scenes were eerie and mind twisting. Also the OP and ending songs were decent.

So Far in just 3 episodes, this anime has done an outstanding work. Probably going to be added to my favorites list soon after it ends.
Story/Plot: 10
very amazing and intriguing. The plot is way deeper than I thought. the theme of the series that it portrays is that us teens and basically the whole society lives and believe things by with rumors and the so called "everyone" thinks, without trying to look for a different outcome/answer. and how easily everyone goes with the flow and switch their mindsets/thoughts on specific subjects by the mood of the atmosphere. And how the illusions shown by unstable
...
psyches or strong preconception that come from adolescence is basically our society today. But at the same time the way to alter any given atmosphere is to break norms, and present an independent perspective while also making a statement big enough for people to recognise, validate and internalise. So the only way to alter the atmosphere is a big show of social unconventional but relatable perspective, so its a huge power of love and friendship cop out, their their going to have to keep repeating
Interesting... very interesting.... the author is a genius
Art: 8
The art is nothing bad and nothing too special. I guess you can call it your average anime art. good thing there are no Bad CGI in this one tho. But you can say that the art is wonderful especially the sunset part, that was pretty.
Sound: 7
I have to say, the studio did a great job on the OSTs and it was really great listening to it while watching the anime. It really created mood and how the author intended the scene to be like.
But to be honest, The Opening Theme Song (OTS) is just Horrendous. That why I graded this sound part as a 7 and not a 8. But the Ending Theme Song (ETS) is fairy Good.
Character: 9
I think the way the characters were set up as were really nice, and they got to preserve the character traits without breaking it. The author even made sure that the characters stick to their intended traits - this was shown when Mai slapped poor Sakuta. Instead of acting in the spur of the moment (she's still human, she did tear up but quickly composed herself), she came up with a rationale decision instead of going all tsun on him (thankfully) as we commonly see in many other animes.
Enjoyment: 9
I really enjoyed watching the first 3 episodes of this anime. the first episode really got me into the story and couldn't wait to watch the next episode. After watching the first 3 episodes, it really made me think over our society today and how we are not seeing things that are pretty obvious and how easily people forget things because of one twitch to the atmosphere.
Overall: 10
To wrap it up, I really enjoyed watching this and recommend this anime to all.

First Impressions:
"The episode opens with a broken, anxious, and destitute Hatori Chise being auctioned off as property before being snatched up by a man named Elias. With a skull for a head, the menacing Elias proves to be rather kind as he explains to Chise that he’s a mage and he had paid for her in the hopes of training her as his apprentice. After Chise is given a warm welcome into Elias’ home, she almost ends up entering the fairies’ world during a midnight stroll. However, she rejects the forceful offer since Elias had called her family, which is something
...
none of her adoptive families ever did despite all of them being blood-related to her. Elias then swoops in, warns the fairies to never try that sort of stunt again, and carries her through the forest back to their home. The episode ends with Elias admitting that while he purchased Chise with the intention to raise her as his apprentice, he also hopes that one day she would be his wife.
There’s something universally attractive about magic. Just think of all of the popular anime that feature magic! The possibilities that exist within such settings is certainly enticing, as with the flashy displays of magic that are simply cool. Mahoutsukai no Yome, however, doesn’t opt to just rely on such theatrics and has already woven an emotional message into the narrative by tackling a topic that resonates with many a viewer. While exploring the concept of family is not exactly original, the series executes the concept well and is successful at getting the audience to care for Chise. Seeing a misfortune girl regain her sense of confidence after being told that she actually belongs is likely one of the major reasons why most are interested in following Mahoutsukai no Yome. Another reason to get excited is that the series seems to be much more than just Chise’s story. If the opening is anything to go by, then the series is set to feature some climatic and dramatic moments. Having nothing to go by other than the 3-episode OVA (which I would highly recommend watching before watching this first episode yet isn’t strictly necessary if one wants to get technical), I can only look forward to seeing how Mahoutsukai no Yome progresses from here on.
Verdict Worth Watching – Give it a shot! It almost feels like I watching a fairy tale unfold, to be honest, and that has me wishing for emotional scenes and moments that’ll leave me breathless and wanting more. And so far, Mahoutsukai no Yome has proven to be sincere, touching, and beautiful (due to its wonderful animation), leaving me hopeful that my expectations will be fulfilled. There’s a lot of hype surrounding this series, frankly, and it’s easy to see why. Whether or not it can deliver remains to be seen, but so far the series is off to a decently strong start. Be that as it may, the way Elias refers to Chise as “my puppy” is a bit off-putting, but perhaps he’s just socially awkward. The 3 OVA episodes seem to support this theory. Speaking of which, I suggest watching the OVA episodes before jumping into this first episode, however. Think of it as a potential time-saver – you might feel nothing for the series after spending roughly an hour and half watching Chise tell a story from her past, so you can feel justified in refraining from following Mahoutsukai no Yome in its entirety, which is set to air for 2 seasons and thus will take around 12 hours to watch over a period of months. I myself wasn’t sold until I finished watching the OVA episodes, so you might be surprised!!"-The Outerhaven

I'm Japanese so I noticed but, uhhhh, I hate to break this to you all but the title of the anime is subbed wrong. It's actually called Seishunn X Kikanjuu, Say-Shun. Seishunn (青春)means adolescence. The direct/Khun Yomi pronunciation of seishunn (青春) is Ao Haru because ao--> 青 means blue and 春ー> means spring as in the season. BTW aoHaru don't make sense in Japanese and it's not a word. So the translators did a bad job subbing the title. Makes sense right? because Tachibana(the MC) is still like around 16~17 meaning She's still in her adolescent age. And throughout the story she is introduced with
...
the survival games which involves machine guns and all that stuff, which directly connects to a part of the title of this anime which is "Kikanjuu" (machine gun). The plot was decent 8/10, characters were fine7/10, the cliffhanger in the end was disappointing but you're gonna get over it if you read the rest of it in the manga. Where at one point she reveals her secret. (trust me, it's the most satisfying thing ever) I typically fine anime that involves guns fun to watch so this one's in my good list. But I can't say that it's in one of my favorites list. At one point in the anime the MC showed some personality that doesn't belong to her. Like as if she has 2 personalities. But I guess thats what makes the anime a bit spicy.
