This series was nothing really special.
I remember seeing this new season first announced and I got pretty excited since it’s been a while and oh boy it didn’t live up to that excitement.
I found it rather easy to get bored over the episode even with them being short. Hetalia used to be a rather enjoyable series I remember being a bit fond of when it first started to air, I don’t really think this season is much different from the others and I think that’s what my issues is.
Hetalia never really offers anything new in entertainment, it just follows the same kind of plot
...
each episode which is fine for sume I suppose.
Story is about 5, it’s not terribly bad but not great either
Art is 7, it’s a pretty cute style, not too much different from the earlier series
Sound 6, nothing much to comment in it
Characters 7, again nothing much to add, if you’ve seen the previous series it’s about the same, enjoyable characters ( I really watch this to see more japan content lol)
Enjoyment 5, honestly could of spent my time watching another show
Overall 5, I’m not to sure how people are rating this show 10, I always imagine 10 being a rating for a ground breaking/masterpiece show but I suppose everyone to their own

Wave, follows the main character Masaki Hinaoka on the beginning of his surfing journey. At the beginning Masaki didn't have much interest in surfing until he experienced the surfing of his soon to be friend Sho Akitsu. The beginning of the show follows through the friend ship of the trio, Masaki, Sho and Nalu and the bond between them and surfing.
When I first saw this series announced on twitter I was over the moon, seeing the teaser art and characters slowly being revealed gradually built up the hype more and more. The three part film was released in Japan last October and to everyones surprised
...
they soon after announced the tv series for the film. Although I remember it causing some panic to the viewer at the time because there might be some missing plot holes because of the film but in this case it seems like the series is a possible adaptation of the film its self? I could be dumb by saying this since I haven't see the films though..
Continuing on the original hype of the series I was counting down the days for the first episode to come and when it finally did, did I feel disappointed? Not quiet, when I finished the episode I was almost left with some kind of emptiness inside of me. The episode was far from great but it also wasn't bad. I really wanted to give this long awaited a chance so I continued watch it.
Most episodes felt like they dragged on a long because I just could feel entertained as much as I thought I could be. When I originally saw this anime my hopes were high, for the past seven years I've been a massive fan of the free ! franchise so I believe a lot of my hopes for this series was reflected from how great that series was.
story 5/10
As one of the first surfing anime it has a lot of potential, I feel like this series was rushed and also low at the same time. It also have a generic plot of ' mc who's never done it before is great at it almost right away' kind of like Langa in sk8 ( but unlike our mc he has somewhat knowledge in a similar sport..) which is kind of drag after seeing it happen in lot of series before..
art 6/10
The art isn't bad as such, it isn't my favourite style for an anime but I've seen a lot worse. The animation isn't as good as I had expected to be, as noted before I had pretty high expectations for the water and surfing animation from free but other shows have nailed that kind of animation in things like beach episodes but its been pretty disappointing.. I don't think the CGI is too bad but again it could be better, if you want a show to watch bad CGI in you should probably go and watch Ex-arms and complain about that
sound 6/10
There isn't much to note here that others haven't done already, there isn't much soundtrack to the series and the op and end song are pretty average
characters 5/10
Is it me or are some of the characters just empty? By appearance of them you can probably guess what their like from stereotype etc.. but I don't feel like they go into the character too much? Mc is a 'corgi' like character hence his nickname and loves surfing and what else?.. Some characters just seem overly under developed which I hope changes in the future episodes.
Im also not too much of a fan of Mcs almost permanent blush but some people might like that
enjoyment 5/10
As mentioned before I found that the episodes have dragged on a bit they don't really grab my attention as much as I had hoped it would, its not extremely bad but I wish it was better
overall 5-6/10
I don't believe the series is as bad as some other people make it out to be, its defiantly not the best show of 2021 but its obviously not the worse ( cough cough ex-arms..) even with whats said in this review I hope that the series picks up more with the up coming episodes,,,
I never realised how much hand how much hate this series had until now. I had only seen happy things in the comments of each episode and on the bird app.. But its sadly not the only show to receive hate this season,,,
sorry if this review isn't too great ,, im not the best at writing heh

Story 9/10
I think it’s a very special story, it’s about how Japan sinks into the ocean. An ordinary family tries its best to survive as a series of earthquakes destroy the islands of Japan. It shows their struggle while moving up west and how the city continues to tremble and cause more damage. Even with this the family continues to make memories with each other on their way. I think this story is a real eye open to appreciate whats happening in the moment because you never know what the future brings or who you’ll gain and lose in life.
Art 6/10
For me the characters styles
...
are bland. For the most of it their drawn okay but they could of definitely been better designed. Like in most series the backgrounds are drawn wonderfully. I found that a lot of the frames went from being well drawn to just awful, some times it was hard to look at it because of how bad it was. It’s understandable from occasion because a lot of work goes into animating but I feel like it’s constantly seen throughout the series.
Sound 8-9/10
The music in the series is definitely emotional, for me whenever I hear the music I always think of a silent voice, after looking up the composer I found out that it is the same for this series and a silent voice.i found that the music for both is very similar. For some people this could be a downside for the resembles which I understand a lot but even with that it still sets the scene and brings the emotion.
Characters 6-7/10
In this series there is a nice range of characters even for side characters of the show. Ayumu is a character who seems to have a hard time to adjust to the situation which is happening around her, unlike other characters in the series she seem to keep a lot of morals like how she didn’t want to steal any food or clothing from the shops. I think there is a strong development in her as the story goes along as she goes through more pain she continues to stay strong.
Her farther is shown to be a very strong character, he takes on the role to protect his family *spoiler * until he comes to his fateful end * end of spoiler*. The same goes for their mother, she is also another strong hearted character who does what she can for her family, whenever I saw her she always reminded me of a Disney princess who didn’t need to be saved by a prince.
Ayumus brother go is also a strong point to their family, through his character it shows the events happening through younger eyes, he’s often protected from seeing a lot of the darker things that happen in the show but even with that he’s mature and isn’t petty like I’d imagine younger characters being like.
The honorable mentions for side characters would be the ones you see the most of like Daniel, koga, kaito and kunio. There character are well scripted and gives us another insight of their emotions and beliefs for the situation at hand.
Enjoyment 7/10
Compared to a lot of summer animes so far I’ve enjoyed this a lot. Right from episode 1 this series has been very entertaining, unlike the rest it’s a full release and we don’t have to wait every week to see the next episode. For me the biggest downsides of this show are some poorly scripted scene and animation but if you can look past that and see the good elements of the show I think it is something most people would enjoy. I think for me at least it will be a series I’d like to re visit again in the future.
Overall 7/10
I’d definitely recommend anyone to watch this if you have Netflix (or if you can find it else where) it’s definitely one of the better series that they have on, with its unique compelling story people will definitely be hooked on it from the start. it’s packed with a lot of emotion scene in it which you can easily emphasise with the characters, I managed to cry a lot during some episodes even with being a not very emotion person. I always think shows are usually good when they can bring home the emotion even if they are not the best scripted or animated.
As a note I noticed on Netflix that the series was rated 15 which I can somewhat agree to disagree on. I found that some scene in this series seemed to be suited for a mature audience of probably +16 but I could be totally wrong.

From first seeing the trailer I had very high expectations for this film and they were definitely met. This is my first review so I’m sorry in advance if it’s not too well wrote, it also may contain spoilers.
In the first twenty minutes of the film I felt almost disappointed with how it was going and how annoying the main characters was but as the story continued on her character development was just wonderful. She went from being an annoying stalker student to becoming a more relatable character.
I think the story is probably 9 almost an 8. If you’ve started to watch it and
...
do feel bored please continue watching it because it’s extremely unique!
For sound I’d give it 9. The sound for the anime was also pretty great, the music was wonderful and went it came to some of the voice acting I wasn’t too sure. I found some of the actors to have extremely bland voices for their characters.
As for the characters for me it’s and easy 10. As I said before Miyo Sasaki is a really annoying character to beginning with. She’s a love struck girl who obsesses a lot over her crush who at first doesn’t really like her. As the story continues to go on her character becomes more calmer and more of a relatable character if she wasn’t before. At some parts I could even put myself into her shoes which I always find is a great feature of the anime.
At first Kento Hinode just seems like the average the anime boy crush but he’s so much more. Like Miyo, Kento has a lot of hardships at home which he never shows through his emotions when he’s around others, in a sense he’s a very strong character and if he did speak of how he felt he spoke his words to taro who he sincerely trusted. As the film goes on the two characters go on an emotional ride of emotions and Kento realises his feelings for Taro/Miyo.
My enjoyment for this film would be 9. As I’ve said before I didn’t enjoy the first part of the film but as I watched it more I enjoyed it so much more. If I was to sit and watch the film again I’d probably give it a 10.
Overall I give this film 10! For me at least I enjoy this film an awful lot, I even found parts of it much more enjoyable more than some of the other popular films like your name and weathering with you.
After waiting all this time because of the pandemic this film was definitely worth it and I would for sure recommend it to anyone, young or old!
