The basic plot (without any spoilers) revolves around a UFO or "disk" which hovers over a small town. Nonoka (the main protagonist) is moving back with her father to this town, after living in the city due to her mother's health issues. Nonoka is suprised to find a small girl named Noel waiting for her, and that her and a group of (now distant) friends were responsible for initially summoning the disk. As she begins to re-connect with her past acquittances drama unfolds, as specifically with Shione, who resents her for Nonoka for forgetting about her.
As the series goes on we learn more
...
about how the "summoning" happened, the relationship of the characters, why some hold resentments to the "disk", and Noel's reason for existing. I will admit I was initially not too interested at first but as time went on, and the conflict between the characters began I became more intrigued to see how the storyline would transpire. There is some filler, and of course a hot springs episode which was probably the most boring point of the series, it was worth it in the end.
I will say I am surprised at all the other reviews here complaining about the lack of any interesting traits in the character of the series, although I do understand the sentiment to an extent, I feel like the characters don't really need to be "extraordinary" here. If you're going into this, you're not really watching for them, you're more watching to see the relationship between them, and what happens to the disk. If you're watching to find your next Oshi maybe this isn't for you.

I will just start off by saying this is probably a film for someone who is a "die-hard" Quintuplets fan, and probably not just someone looking for an anime film for the evening. I'll also preface this all by saying I was already familiar with the franchise, and watched the 2 Seasons of the anime prior. For the sake of having it up, I’ll say even though I did watch everything- I would not call myself a huge fan, yes I do like some of the characters and some of the plot lines were interesting, but there was just some aspects I wasn't 100% into
...
(I will though admire the production jump to better animation between the first and second seasons).
With that out of the way, I'll simply say this was an odd experience for me. I went to see this in the theatre, which I will make the assumption that it was the sheer amount of advertisements I had to watch prior that soured my mood before the film even starting that may have soured my mood and led this review to be more ‘vicious’ than it would have been, but I digress. There was nothing “theatrical” here, it just felt like I was watching a really long episode. There were attempts to make things more dramatized, but I don’t think I cared. Even this big ““plot-twist”” added in the film just felt so boring. In fact looking back when writing this, I can barely remember what happened in the opening acts of the film just due to lack of interest. The film mostly revolves around the final 3-day school festival at the Quintuplets school, and who Futaro will pick to be his girlfriend of the three. Through the story we see the final day through the eyes of each of the girls. Eventually he makes his choice and we get some backstory but it just feels like too much after my interest was lost.
I will say as some positives, the animation looked very nice, and the score/music of the film was good too. Those were probably the best parts of it.
Also of note I watched the English dubbed version of the film. Which I was surprised by, it was done well, but some of the choices for certain characters felt very off. For example, Futaro has a very deep voice, which although fits his personality does not work very well for a High School student, and the father of the Quintuplets sounded much younger then him (at least to me). I did also like how they decided to dub one of the songs in the middle of the film (a school performance) but the songs at the beginning and end of the film were undubbed.
Overall, if you’re a “ride-or-die” Quintuplets fan, this is probably everything you wanted and more, but for me it was just a waste of an evening. But I will say it’s always nice to see anime in the theatres. This is probably a 5 or 6 out of 10 for me.

So I've watched the first few episodes, after reading the Manga, and I'm not sure what to really think so far.
The concept of the series is very interesting, and I think it's a nice follow up to all the series you see that take place in high school, like the second level so to speak. I'm not a huge gamer but I find the information on game design to be extremely interesting.
I will say in comparison to the Manga, I do prefer it, the 4-pannel style feels more digestible than the episode format, not that it's a bad thing. I think it would
...
have worked better as maybe 7 minute vignettes.
I do still like the series though, the voice acting is nice and it's colorful and appealing to the eyes, but if I had the choice between the two, I'd pick the manga.
Overall I'd still recommend this. Nice sweet little show.

I saw this in the theaters and it was a really great experience. I went in with zero expectations as I saw an anime was showing and I decided to go.
It was the dubbed version, and I was surprised that they dubbed the songs, it was really nice and caught me off guard (hot take but it needs to happen more!)
Story was weird but was fun. It was interesting to see the idea of taking AI (which a lot of people see as scary) and making it fun in a way.
the characters were a tad generic but they all blended well together.
...
I had a good time watching it and I'd love to see it again.
