Despite being different genres, both shows are very slow paced and longer in episode length. Uchuu Kyoudai does a much better job at handling its pace though. The main similarity between the shows to note is that both of the brothers in each show have the older brother with an afro and the younger with blonde hair. The older brother also turns out to be a genius in having a wider perception of situations despite his goofy appearance and mannerisms and the younger brother being iconic for his jumping.

Onikirimaru

In Onikirimaru, the MC goes around slaying oni while in Mononoke, the MC deals with all types of ayakashi/demons. Onikimaru looks like your typical 90's gorefest horror but with an episodic format, and Mononoke handles its horror with a unique, experimental art style. Besides the few short arcs in Mononoke, both are episodic and can be watched in any order without prior knowledge of the show. On top of that both MCs are not human and don't seem to age as they go on to the next incident so by the transition to the end of each episode it creates a similar bittersweet feeling knowing more is to come.

Yome ga Kore na mon de.
|
Both sitcoms, Okusan is centered around the housewife and her daily life, and Yome ga is centered around both the husband and his alien wife. In Okusan, the housewife wants to make herself better for her husband, while in Yome ga, the housewife wants to be able to live a normal life to put her husband at ease. The female leads are lovable and just want the best for their relationship, but usually end up getting caught up or run into obstacles. Different approaches to a sitcom, but the female leads give off a similar, cheerful vibe.

Although Koi Kaze focuses on incest, both have a very similar atmosphere, despite the vast differences of the characters. Once it starts picking up, the story is headed towards a downward spiral of depressing and heavy moods. Both bring powerful, heavy, and realistic emotions into their respective plots. These are no generic shounen, ecchi, nor shoujo romance.

White Album 2nd Season
|
While ef S1 is a VN adaption, White Album is an eroge adaption, but you will still see similar scenes in both. The drama level in both is very high, but in White Album it's enough to be like you're watching a soap opera. Even though the circumstances for the male leads and female leads are varied, the feeling of emptiness, sabotage, and guilt is evident in both, only difference that in WA it's depressing to the max.
