Ever thought about watching Youjo Senki before you read anymore here's my opinion in one word. DON'T! This anime doesn't deserve any of your time. Don't even watch, don't even think about it. It's a dumb show that will waste your time.
The story of this show, is as followed. Right before this office worker dies, he is visited by a self proclaimed "God" also known as Being X. But our main character doesn't believe in God, which upsets "God" so much. That God reincarnated him, with all his memories of his past life into a little baby girl. That will one day be 9

year old Tanya. Apparently though after this reincarnation, his next one is not guaranteed. God/Being X also tells him to survive as long as he can. So it's safe to say, that it's really is Tanya's last time to be reincarnated. Somehow as a 9 year old girl, Tanya joins the military. Yeah, I don't get how that makes any sense either. I guess the military doesn't give a shit, that's the only reason I can think of. But it's not believable to me. There are no other kids in the same military, or any other military for that matter. Everyone else pretty much looks like an adult. It sticks out even more, when other characters want her to leave the military, because she's around the age as some of their kids.
This shows animation never surpasses fair. Which isn't a terrible thing in my opinion, just as long as it never dips. But unfortunately for Youjo Senki has moments that I would say looked bad. Thankfully most of the time, they are just small bits! What really knocks down the animation, by a peg or two. Is that a lot of the characters, just look bad. With the exception of a handful of characters, but even they don't look amazing. They stand out when compared to the rest of the cast, so points to them. But again to me they don't look amazing.
Let's talk about the characters. What characters? I ask, because 80% of the characters, are about as good as a background character. Hell even the main character Tanya, lacks depth when compared to a puddle of water. The only good moments for the characters. Other than some very small parts, and one other character which I will not mention. Was when Tanya and Being X are exchanging conversation. It made it feel, as if there could be so much more to both these characters then there was. Everyone else just kinda fills space to say/explain something every once in a while. Sure some characters have a bit more, but for the most part not as much as Tanya.
But you May be asking "What about the music?" Well I liked some tracks quite a bit every now and then. Listening to the OST now though, doesn't change that. Which makes me sad, because I was hoping to find more tracks to listen to more than once outside the anime. Although I don't really see myself listening to the whole OST again.
The enjoyment I got out of this show ranges. Most of the time, it was absolutely pathetic! Other times it gave me hope, that it would stay at a ok level of quality. Only to kick me in the balls later on.
Overall this could have been a better anime. Sadly it isn't. The characters are lacking any real depth. There's no real character development. Animation could have been a bit better, the characters designs could have been more appealing to look at. The music had it's moments though, which I was thankful for. Well that's all I have to say, so later.
