So Fairy Tail is likely my favourite series, I've loved it since I first picked it up. I didn't actually know about 100 years quest until I saw it come up on my usual manga site.
I could immediately tell that it was a different artist and writer- the characters have said things that seem really out of character, the art isn't as good. And it just seems forced. There are times when it seems far more like fan fiction than a continuation of the story. Fairy Tail is one of the few series that would really get my emotions involved, but this series just
...
doesn't.
And then the story...
**Very minor spoilers***:
They have a lot of explaining to do about the pentadrakes, especially considering Acnologia's desire to wipe all dragons out. And Gildarts had taken on this quest, never bothered to tell Natsu he was hunting dragons (which at the time Natsu didn't even know still were around). And then he faces off with Acnologia, so surely Acnologia knows of the pentadrakes?
Igneel never bothered to mention his own son to Natsu?
Then there's Touka. She's going after powerful mages, but never went
after Alvarez? You know, the whole city-state of powerful mages? Perhaps she feared Zeref, but Zeref spent a lot of time away from Alvarez.
And why would Jellal not bring concerns to Makarov?
There had better be a romance scene with Jellal and Erza. To me that was one of the more disappointing parts of the last chapter of Fairy Tail. That had been building for the whole series, then at the end, nothing?
***End Spoilers***
I trust Hiro Mashima, I've enjoyed all of his work, and I know he's still involved in Fairy Tail, but his focus is on Eden's Zero. So I want to have faith that it will improve, but it's not looking that way thus far.
So in summary, if you really need your fix, I suggest rewatching or re-reading. Unless some major changes take place in the series, it's not worth it. I'll likely keep reading out of some hope it will get better, but I don't recommend that to others!

Clannad After Story was ranked for a while as #1 on MAL, now it sits at #5. So I thought I would watch the whole series. Season 1, and the first 8 or so episodes of After Story lived up to my expectations, but went downhill after that.
I loved the spirit of the first season and the first few episodes of this one. There were outright hilarious moments, moments I found myself getting choked up, and I loved the flow of the story. The little bits of the supernatural made things interesting, and I enjoyed learning about the characters.
However after graduation, the story
...
moved to focus on Nagisa and Tomoya, which makes sense except the story got slow and uninteresting. Through many timeskips, we see the mundane (yet happy) life the two are living. But literally one goes to work gets home, the other makes dinner then they go to sleep. Repeat. All suspense vanished. I found myself skipping scenes. To me it was like I was watching a completely different series. The tone of the series changed, the humour all but vanished, along with most of the other characters that made the show interesting.
It was great to see how the girl and the robot tied into the rest of the story, but it wasn't worth the monotony of the season to get there. It was just boring and depressing. And I don't just mean because of some of the sad events that took place, it was depressing to see how the characters changed from fun to dull.
The art and sound stayed great, but the characters and the story went downhill from the first season. Akio became the only enjoyable character, but wasn't enough to keep me going. I only finished the series because the first season and beginning of After Story deserved it.
Many people have given this 10/10 and brilliant reviews, but in my opinion, this series is not deserving of it. Watch season 1 by all means, but don't watch this season past episode 10 unless you want to get bored and depressed.

As various others have mentioned, this anime has a main character who isn't wimpy, which is a great change from the usual. It's also the opposite of some fantasy stories where someone is thrown into another world and has to gain powers to save it. Instead, Akatsuki has already been through this, and is ready to return home after defeating a demon lord. What is more interesting is that this is a common event, and there is a school, aptly called Babel where people hone their skills from other worlds.
The main character can't use magic, but can manipulate the "energy" of his opponents bodies,
...
which is also something new. He also doesn't give the speeches about friendship etc that other shounen heroes tend to give. He stands up for the weak, is a pervert and has power.
The anime itself has elements of fantasy/magical/supernatural, ecchi, and harem. The harem part I usually hate, but it's not so bad here, if predictable. The ecchi is a bit pathetic in how they bring it up in most episodes. I usually love fantasy/magic anime, but I'm still unsure about this one.
I'm beginning to think I'll be disappointed in the second half of the series.
Story- 6
After 7 episodes there still isn't much of one, but there seem to be some interesting developments thus far. It will either turn out grossly predictable, or will have some sort of interesting twist, hard to say so far. There has been some interesting foreshadowing of events to come, and some characters who may not be all they seem, but the story thus far seems more "how can we get Miu naked?"... I don't care about fan service most of the time, but to dedicate an entire episode to her picking out a bra and getting her breasts fondled by a shopkeeper and the guy who is posing has her brother... yeah, it's just pathetic. The most recent episode I stopped watching after the girls entered a contest of tag that results in removing someones bathing suit. It's just stupid to dedicate 2 episodes (thus far) out of 12 to fanservice. You have an interesting story, develop it! If you want fanservice, fine, but you can include it while developing a story...
Character- 7
The main character is a welcome change from similar guys in his position. However, he tends to rub me the wrong way sometimes. I still like him though, it's nice to see a main male character that's tough and has elements of fanservice. Little is known about him, thus far he has been revealed to be arrogant, strong, perverted and with some intelligence. But he has to be the one to save the day, which is a little too predictable. Like in a recent episode where I thought we would get so see some different characters kick ass, out he comes, completely out of nowhere to save the day. You're allowed to have more than one kick ass character! He's the "bad boy" type, who secretly has a kind heart.
Haruka is perhaps the most predictable of female characters. She's the bitchy annoying one that gets in embarrassing situations while having it in for the main character, but then will eventually develop feelings for him.
The characters just aren't that great. I like the new blonde guy, because he seems to have his own agenda, but otherwise they are all pretty predictable.
Art and sound are fine, the art isn't as good as many I've seen, but not too bad either. As for enjoyment, thus far I'd give it a 6, but I'm hoping it will be able to change that in the second half!

The first thing everyone comments on is the endless eight. Really, it's not as bad as it sounds. Yes, its' repetitive, yes, I got sick of some things, but it was in reality a really neat idea. It almost gives us a taste of what they are going through. The second episode contains scenes that the first doesn't, and every episode after changes things. Sometimes it's just where someone was sitting, or something they said or did or wore. There's also one thing that we never actually see Kyon's reaction to, just Koizumi's response to it. I found I always wanted to see this particular
...
scene to see how it changed.
I think they could have done this in 3 or 4 episodes, not 8, but it took a chance that many series would not. And for me, who has little attention span, I could do other things while having that in the background. And I love the characters enough anyway that I just enjoyed watching them.
The rest of the series ties the two seasons together, the making of the movie for the festival. It's entertaining, but I would have liked to have had something new. For anyone who didn't watch the first season in chronological order, they would have seen them in that order in 2009. So perhaps that would give different insight on the series too. I did watch it in chronological order (not realising it was aired in a different order until much later, I thought there just must be something wrong with crunchyroll).
Anyway, it's worth watching this series. If you don't like the endless 8, then you can always skip a few in between. If you do that, at least watch the first two and the last one! But give it a chance before getting annoyed and giving up on the series!

This movie is an excellent conclusion to the Haruhi storyline. It delves into the emotional side more, especially for Kyon and Nagato. Both of these characters are developed even more, and not without surprises.
Kyon, who spent most of the series trying to be the voice of reason within the craziness, suddenly finds himself in a normal world. Koizumi isn't an esper, Nagato is a normal girl, and Mikiru doesn't know him, and isn't from the future. Haruhi is unknown to anyone at the school.
This is what Kyon seems to want, yet he still freaks out when it happens, and wants to find
...
a way back. The movie contains a lot of soul searching for him, he discovers his true feelings for Haruhi and the rest of the Brigade. Kyon never really shows an abundance of emotion in the series, but he shows his true colours here. More than once, he is nearly in tears. It's really well done, not too much, and very emotional.
Nagato isn't developed a lot in the series, besides her powers and her past. But she has become a normal girl, and throughout the movie we learn a lot about her.
I loved the movie, I found myself on an emotional roller coaster throughout the movie. I'm glad it wasn't divided into a series, I don't think I'd be able to wait a week between each episode! If you loved the series, you'll love the movie.

This series rates 10's all across the board for me. The events and humour are random, the characters are awesome and the story is fun.
I watched this series in chronological order, not airing order, and I'm not sure if or how that would change perspective, but it probably does. It's hard to talk about the story because of it's randomness. The actual story arc focuses around the first 6 (chronological, not aired) episodes. The rest of the series employs random humour and more character development, especially for Haruhi. It combines humour, supernatural happenings, emotions and story in a really wonderful way.
Character:
Perhaps the
...
best quality of the show are the characters. Kyon, unlike many male characters in his position, is a really great character. He narrates the story when needed, and tries to be the voice of reason in the group, but is generally overruled by Haruhi and ignored by the others. He tries to be really serious, even when narrating, yet he still finds himself coming back to the SOS Brigade headquarters every day.
Haruhi herself is a bit of a mystery. She starts off quiet and ignores everyone, but when Kyon takes an interest in her, she starts to open up and show her crazy side. She's not afraid to go after what she wants, even when it involves using her friends (mostly Mikiru) as the means to an end. When she doesn't have her way, the world is generally at stake. Kyon is the only one she'll listen to.
Koizumi is also a great character. He tends to just smile and go along with whatever crazy plans Haruhi has. Nagato is very serious with little personality and no emotions. She never interferes with Haruhi or anyone unless she has to, because she's there to observe.
Mikiru is almost a parody of the usual cute, dumb big busted girl character. She is that character, but she's forced into the fanservice situations by Haruhi, who does it for her own gain. Mikiru is very quiet and shy, and gets embarrassed very easily. She's also naive and really skittish. She's probably my least favourite character, but still enjoyable.
It's hard to imagine anyone not enjoying this series, and is definitely worth the watch! It now ranks among my top anime series!

Story: 1/10
I'm not the biggest harem or fanservice fan, but I don't mind if they have a good story and likeable characters. But instead of a good plot with fanservice, it's fanservice with little plot.
I knew all hope was lost when the generic fanservice beach episode was the second one. Then episode 3 was written around fanservice. 'How can we make Himari's breasts/panties show this time?". I wanted to give it a chance, it sounded interesting and for the most part ecchi doesn't bother me. I mean series like 11 eyes, for example, find ways to write fanservice into a scene, but in this
...
series, they try to write a scene around fanservice. It's pointless! And the thing is, it even has potential to be a good story! Demon slayers, demons, magic powers etc. Sounds like it could be a good fantasy story, but alas no. They might as well have taken the clothes out completely and made it a hentai. And I've seen hentai with more story..
There are maybe 3 episodes out of 12 that relate to the "plot".
Character: 3/10
All of the villains tend to be large breasted females who also lust over the main character (and for what reason I don't know). The main male character barely looks a day over 12, yet is getting fondled and dry humped by a lot of women who look many years older than him (except one, who looks like an elementary school kid. She heals him by rubbing against him until she gets off). Of course he has his cliche annoying possessive female friend, and the the large busted bodyguard. However, I actually like Himari. She's pretty well rounded (and not just her chest). She's also a powerful cat demon that fights with a sword- what's not to like? She also shows the widest range of emotion. Really she's the only character worth mentioning.
Overall, unless you watch an anime for just breasts and pantyshots and no story, this is not one I'd recommend.

Shakugan no shana had a lot of potential, but I found it didn't live up to it. It was entertaining, there were some good battle scenes and some interesting characters, but also too much predictable drama. Outside of the predictable romance drama, and the powerful girl teams with a guy that has some sort of special feature theme, it was fairly original. It starts off well, enough to hook me, but then I found that I ended up disappointed with some of the background.
Characters:
The characters were ok, but as with similar series (powerful girl, guy who teams up with her), Yuji, the male protagonist
...
wasn't anything special. Shana was by far the best part of the series, watching her adapt to her own emotions and surroundings. And gaining more power as a flame haze.
Kazumi is a character I hated-- she's nothing special and pretty much useless, basically she's there to interfere with the main romance between Yuji and Shana. She's annoying, and overall the worst part of the series for me. Especially since Shana has enough to adapt to and overcome on her own that extra interference is not necessary.
Margery was sometimes comic relief, but overall was an interesting character. She too changes throughout the series, gaining some compassion.
The story is good, like I said before, it had far more potential than it used. It's somewhat inconsistent as well, for example Shana at first had no name, and said that flame haze didn't need names. Yet every other flame haze we meet has a name.
I also found that the story focused too much on the romance drama, when it could have gone more deeply into the background of some of the characters, for example Alastor, the Guze, and so on. I was expecting something more for Shana's backstory, and there are a few things that are never really made clear.
Overall the series was entertaining, enough that I watched the second season, but not so much as to rewatch it. I tried to, but the whole drama part of it made me stop. It's not done well, and ends up quite predictable.
It's a good series for any fantasy fan, as long as you're not expecting something grand and mind-blowing.

I will first say that while R2 is an awesome series, it just doesn't live up to the first season. I felt that the whole series was leading up to something big, and didn't quite follow through. Or it did, but then dragged on longer.
The part that disappointed me the most was the ending, the series should have ended around episode 22, but instead was dragged out longer. The last few episodes just didn't keep my interest, because I felt that the climax had already happened, and some of the things that happened were unnecessary.
Otherwise, the series was great. Outside of the last
...
3 or 4 episodes, the story was well done, but I didn't find myself on the edge of my seat so much as I did in the first season. A few new characters are introduced, but some of the events could have just as easily used characters that were already there. They could have developed Rolo a bit more too.
I also find that the series seems to lean towards one love interest for Lelouch, but others get in the way... namely Shirley. The series tries to make her into an important character, but it just doesn't work. She is not a memorable character, and really just exists for her crush on Lelouch. To me she didn't serve a purpose in the second season, like she did in the first.
The art and music were the same as in the first season, and I still very much enjoyed it in spite of my dislike for mecha. It's really the way they handled the ending that brings the season down to a 9 instead of a 10/10.

I read the reviews for this anime, and thought it would be great... I was wrong. I'm not a fan of the harem anime's from the start, and I didn't originally think this would be like that.
Honestly it's best redeeming quality is the opening theme...
It's supposed to be funny, but I find it hard to watch due to the fact that basically every episode consists of yelling and screaming. And really, the whole trying-to-kill-Nagasumi thing gets old REALLY fast. A lot of things happen, but I haven't laughed at all, because it's more annoying than funny.
The story is hidden in the background of
...
the attempted humour, and isn't all that great, either.
The character are alright, but none of them stand out as unique. Nagasumi is no different from guys in other harem animes, and none of the characters are fresh.
The art and sound of the anime are the only things I enjoyed. I really wanted to get into it, but EVERY episode is the same. I'm not even finished the series yet, but I'm not sure I'll even be able to.
They could have made this story really funny, and there is potential for it, but they fail.
