Here we go.
Sword Art Online is 1 of those shows with a split fandom, some hate it, others adore it. I'm more on the fence about it.
Let's break it down.
Story
The premise is a good one, a VRMMORPG where players die irl not just in the game. However, the story is fairly linear most of the episodes are not story based particularly in the first half, I mean Kirito & Asuna settle down, meet Yui then suddenly get drafted by Heathcliff to attack a boss dungeon and then final battle commences afterwards. Overall I felt series 2 was a bit of a downgrade from series 1, the first couple of episodes with the beach and festival were fun but the 3 episodes about Akihisa, Kouta and Yuuji trying to see the girls bathroom was shallow and got old really quick and was garbage. The other episodes were below-average, though the finale was pretty good and a return to the usual.
The characters are still as likable and good as before, we do get some backstory episodes for Yuuji, Minami and Shoko but they felt out of place in a comedy anime, though character development is always welcome. Overall, ... |
