Oh my gosh this miniseries is so beautiful and wholesome. The main character is adorable, and is such a strong driving force in every episode. I really like how she stays motivated despite her harsh upbringing. Definitely a good message to give to any audience.
This may not be the battle-centric Pokémon we've become so used to, but we still have a very good and light-hearted scenery with all sorts of fun human characters, as well as all the adorable Pokémon filling this world.
The character design is really good. I love how they get around to each Pokémons's design and the felt textures some of them
...
have. This little anime is just one big good vibe and I love it for that. It's a very easy show to jump into, even if you're not familiar with the franchise

This manga's from another age both in time in general and in Araki's career as a mangaka and it shows. JoJo is known to be weird and cheesy as hell, this one is not the exception. However, unlike with the parts that follow, the bizarre and comedic elements of the story do tend to come off as unintentionally funny rather than a joke we're supposed to laugh with.
The characters are a mixed bad between good and eh whatever. The backstory of Jonathan and Dio is really strong, the manga does a fantastic job at having us rooting for our main character constantly. Dio is a
...
fantastic villain, man's just so evil and rotten to the core it's fascinating to see. George sucks ass, I'm sorry. Sure, his death was sad, but fucker treated JoJo like ass the moment Dio became part of the family and now Jonathan's main motivation to fight Dio is to honor his pride? Not buying it. Zeppeli, albeit short-lived, was a good mentor character for Jonathan and Speedywagon... See, this is what I mean when I say I'm not sure if I'm supposed to laugh with or at the manga. He is very enjoyable and charismatic in his own right, but the way they sell him to us it's like if he was the most amazing most badass human being to ever exist while in reality he's just some guy! He is such a weird character, easily my favorite. I do wish we could have seen more Erina though. Everyone else is just kinda there.
The first 2 parts follow an entirely different format, we still haven't gotten to the "enemy Stand of the week" types of stories, but I think that is Phantom Blood's saving grace. The story itself is a very simple one: Guy fights evil monsters with the special power brought upon us by the plot. However, like I said, we follow some really good main characters and it's short enough so that it never really has a chance to become tiresome. A standout for me was the Tarkus and Bruford fights, those were some really cool minor antagonists, I liked Bruford's redemption at the end and the Tarkus fight had a very original concept with the chains.
I liked the prologue with Jonathan and Dio's childhood. I mean, it introduced us to their world, their relationship, their characters and motivations and Dio is such a piece of shit you can't help but keep going and nobody being quite sure of what the Stone Mask did was a nice touch, but considering the length of part 1 as a whole maybe I could have done with less prologue chapters.
The art style is weird. It has this old-school anime type of look (a la Candy Candy or Speed Racer) except that everyone is RIPPED. It doesn't look bad, but Araki certainly did improve a lot over time.
Overall this is a nice story. It has its faults, but there's quite a bunch to be enjoyed and it's a nice starting point for a series that improves EXPONENTIALLY as it keeps going. Do not skip it... But the anime did it better.

Great improvement over JoJolion so far.
The characters are fun. Although I'm enjoying them so far, I don't feel like I can say much about Dragona or Paco, but Usagi is funny and Jodio works excellent as a protagonist. I like how they made him a dangerous violent sociopath. The narration helps a lot. And it's overall an interesting premise, kind of like part 5 except they'll go deeper with the criminal underworld aspect of it.
Perhaps a lot of "trendy" references could be cut. We get it, it takes place in the current days! But it's something easy to get over with. Hope they keep
...
up the quality and can't wait to see how they handle Stands with this one considering the even weirder Stand abilities they've come up with so far.
That said. November Rain? Smooth Operators? The Hustle? Man, they did an excellent job with the references this time around.

Worst JoJo part so far. The series did improve over time, but it went from utter horseshit to just mediocre, so idk if that really counts. The thing that made it not work for most of the time was the fact that this whole thing feels pointless. Ok, Josuke wants to find out his identity, but what of it? Who were Kira and Josefumi? Why is it so important that we know who they are? Sure, those answers do eventually come. However, that's the problem, they come to Josuke, there is no real goal at hand, things just kinda happen. The first half of part
...
4 kind of did the same thing, but there they actually knew nothing was happening, it was good ol' Hair Josuke living the life in the Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town. Hat Josuke in the other hand acts like there is something huge to uncover while at the same time just letting stuff conveniently happen to him. The comic does get an actual goal when we find out about the grafted rokakaka and stuff and while it does do a good job at being the big thing at hand, it still feels lacking. What would finding the rokakaka do for Josuke's identity crisis.
The weakest part however is the characters. There's just too many of them. Sure, you can easily pick out who's more important than who, but a lot of those characters feel like they should be important, the series acts like they should be important, yet in reality the only real main characters are Josuke, Yasuho, Jobin and later on Mamezuku when he's introduced. There are some that I like. I think Joshu worked well as a silly comic relief (when he wasn't being a rapy creep towards Yasuho at least). Jobin was an amazing character and honestly a much better fit for the main villain role. Mamezuku was enjoyable. Tsurugi did his purpose and Mitsuba albeit gaining relevance a bit too late, she works.
But sadly: Both of the daughters could have not existed and the story would remain intact, the maid seemed like she'd be very important yet she only shows up like twice. I was actually enjoying Norisuke quite a lot, until he kind of disappeared halfway through. Kaato was introduced out of nowhere, then disappeared, then showed up again out of nowhere. Yasuho barely has a personality and no reason at all to be wanting to help Josuke, who for being the main protagonist, feels like he's just... there. But the biggest offence I feel was Tooru.
I like Tooru as a character, but I do not buy him as the main antagonist. Let's think of previous villains. Kira also showed up late into part 4, but at least when he finally showed up they gave him his own very deserved time to develop as a character. Even though I'm not a Diavolo fan, at least part 5 always let you know he was there. Tooru? "Um... there's a... rokakaka organiazation and uh-.... he's the leader.... and he likes medicine..." Like, not only did they introduce him like 20 chapters before the end of part 8, but they also tried to make him a twist villain! Josuke, the main protagonist of JoJolion barely interacts with his supposed main villain. And it sucks because when he goes full villain mode he's so fucking badass and cool and menacing- DUDE! WHERE WERE YOU THIS WHOLE TIME!? WHY ISN'T THE WHOLE SERIES LIKE THIS!?
As for the Stand battles, subjectively speaking I didn't like them. I know JoJo likes its weird powers, but since part 6 Stands have started to feel like they're running out of ideas. Some were cool like the one with the Lego White House or the one with Urban Guerrilla, but if you're into "Oh, it's Tuesday March 12th under the sunlight, that means if I shove a screwdriver up my ass you will start cooking meatballs" type of Stands then this is the part for you. (Except for Fun Fun Fun, that is without a doubt the dumbest fucking ability in the entire series). I will say this, I liked rock humans and rock animals. They were a neat concept and a nice way to keep things fresh between this and other parts of the series. And I also liked how the "monster of the week" Stand users still played some sort of role in the story even after being defeated.
On a final note. Excluding maybe part 2, JoJo doesn't know how to do epilogues. Who tf is Fumi? Who gives a shit about the Radio Gaga incident?
And the art style is amazing. I might be a bigger fan of the parts 2-4 art style, but hey. I WISH I could draw the way Araki does. His art is always so fucking magestic so no matter how weird and frustrating JoJolion got, at least I always had nice art to look at.
So yeah. 4/10 unfortunately. THE JOJOLands is great so far tho. Go check it out.

Before you read I must warn you, I watched the show with bootleg spanish subtitles, they kept changing the names between spanish translations and weird english translations that weren't consistent so sorry if I get the names wrong or resort to using silly names like "the bike guy"
The first 2 episodes were a bit clunky, I think Saitama was a character they took their time wrapping their head around as yeah, in the early episodes when most of his character was screaming and "haha, this guy doesn't give af about fights" "haha, he's thinking about the groceries mid-fight" which ngl could get annoying from time
...
to time.
But once they introduced the hero association they finally found their footing, Saitama was more fleshed out, and thus was the comedy as a whole. Still, there were quite a few episodes where they took the serious generic shonen route (i.e.: The meteor episode) but still, very enjoyable action. I actually really liked the last fight, my only concern is that I feel a villain Saitama couldn't beat with a single blow should have come until the end of the whole series, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, let's see what they go with in season 2.
But yeah, like I said, amazing concept for a series. I think what makes it shine the most is its characters: Saitama himself, if you couldn't tell already took me time to understand, but I eventually ended up warming up to him. He's like this weird parody of like say, Dragon Ball when the entire arc is happening but they have to incapacitate Goku somehow or else the show would be over in a second. In One Punch Man they made a character who's like that on purpose. Genos is fine, he's one of the less comedic characters, but he's likeable. The ninja guy worked well as a rival for Saitama as unlike the latter, he took his thing REALLY seriously. The bike guy is just wholesome, I cracked up every single time he calmly rolls into these intense monster fights in his little bike. And the S-Class heroes, even though we didn't get much screen time with most of them, they seem like interesting characters.
Looking forward to the next season. Really enjoyed this show 7/10
