DANDADAN is a batshit insane manga and i love it.
Something important to point out here (after seeing so many reviews here neglect this fact) is that the mangaka was the main assistant on Tatsuki Fujimoto's Fire Punch, and Chainsaw Man, as well as Yuji Kaku's main assistant on Jigokuraku. Thats right people, this work isn't just recommended by those famous mangaka. Its by THEIR FORMER MAIN assistant
It is just as unpredictable as Fujimoto's Fire Punch and Chainsaw Man, completely ignoring most if not all convention about shonen writing.
Its jokes while crude and mostly sexual, are funny due to the mangaka's impeccable comedic timing.
The
...
art is phenomenal as expected of someone who worked on 3 mangas and refined his art to the highest degree in the process. This mangaka is insanely talented and his paneling his superb and a breath of fresh air
Overall DANDADAN is a great work for people who are tired of the same old stale cliche manga formula, and are looking for something new and unique. honestly the only thing it can be compared to is Chainsaw Man at this point

Mars Red is without a doubt one of the best shows airing this season, and yet it is overwhelmingly underappreciated, with one of the lowest scores of the season (6.88 as of the time i'm writing this review). This has left me completely befuddled and I struggle to comprehend how somebody could give this show less than a 7 or a 8 after watching the first few episodes. The possible reasons for which i will illustrate briefly below
Mars Red starts off with one of the best, if not THE BEST opening episode i've ever seen in anime. The writing was simply BRILLIANT, for it introduced
...
to us enough pieces of an entangling mystery to piece together what happened at the end. The anime doesn't tell or explain to you what happens, it shows you what happens through subtle, cryptic dialogue or facial expressions and lets you infer the rest. This might be one reason for its low rating, maybe people just didn't like the theatrical writing (the show is based on an original stage play) and found it contrived or pretentious, which i strongly beg to differ. If anything, this adaptation of a play thoroughly stirred my emotions and captivated me for it truly is an anime like no other (Mars Red is the first anime based on a stage play)...
ART: 10
Mars Red is a beautiful show. I can't understand how people say its an ugly show. The backgrounds are truly gorgeous and wallpaper worthy. If anything, this show reminds me of the monogatari series, with its similar aesthetic, frame cuts, and aspect ratio. which enhances the immersion of the experience by making it cinematic.
Sound: 10
The OST is simply phenomenal. I was almost brought to tears with how beautiful it is. The OP song by the Wagakki Band, famous for their senbonzakura cover with traditional japanese instruments, is an absolute bangar and so is the ED song by HYDE, a veteran Japanese rock star.
Character: 10
Characters are very interesting so far, this definitely isn't your cliched vampire story for it actually delves a lot deeper into the thoughts and feelings of its characters instead of giving us non stop brainless action.

Fire Punch. Predecessor of the beloved Chainsaw Man and Fujimoto’s boldest, most disturbing, depressing, nihilistic and controversial work ever.
Currently the community is divided on whether to love it or hate it and it seems like the vast majority of readers seem to dislike it, dismissing it as utter nonsense and confusing, cheap edgy, and directionless writing. I too was once in their shoes, feeling absolutely lost and conflicted about whether I loved it or hated it when I flipped the final pages…
But upon several re-reads, I’ve come to the conclusion that Fire Punch is a prime example of a masterpiece, the greatest a manga can
...
be, as a medium of art, entertainment, and storytelling. And I shall expand on why I think so.
To address criticisms about its lack of direction/narrative whiplash, Fire Punch has a direction. It was written with an end in mind after all. In various interviews, Fujimoto has mentioned that he enjoys works that “take the audience to a place they’ve never seen before” and wanted to create works that evoke the sort of feeling “where readers wonder what would happen next” (As a cinephile, he quoted the Korean flick “the chaser” where what was supposed to be the conclusion happens in 30 mins) And I’d say he certainly achieved it with Fire Punch, and later on, Chainsaw Man.
Fire Punch might read like a fast-paced, incomprehensibly crappy B movie upon first glance but when we look closely, you’ll start to see that it is surprisingly complex, thoughtful, and philosophical as it tries to subtly and delicately convey the themes Fujimoto wished to tell in this story.
“LIVE”... Existentialism and Nihilism are themes that permeate this work deeply as Characters ponder, struggle, and search for a “fuel” that keeps them going. “What is left once you’ve finally achieved the goal you dedicated your life for?” Fire Punch doesn’t force the answers down your throat with long expositions or dreary monologues, but merely shows you the varying motivations characters decide to pursue and live for…
Heavy themes like depression and suicide aside, It isn’t complete misery though as with Fujimoto’s questionable and quirky sense of humor, we get to experience some really messed up, dark jokes and banter sometimes, that reliefs all the existential dread and lightens things up, for a short while. It’s philosophical theme about “acting” and depiction of characters “performing” various “roles” in their lives was also insightful and eye-opening. But more importantly, Fujimoto’s skillful ability to weave the theme of love so naturally in the story into a satisfying, poetic, and coherent conclusion, despite the sheer chaos that preceded it, really speaks volumes about his ability as a storyteller.
Something to bear in mind is that at its core, Fire Punch is an extremely morally gray and nuanced work that continuously questions our pre-existing beliefs of what’s right or wrong? In their frozen apocalypse of a world, morals are called into question and the barbaric, primal side of human nature shows. Many messed up things happen in Fire Punch that can certainly be called edgy. However, unlike other works that are pointlessly edgy, Fire Punch presents a rather cynical but grounded and realistic interpretation of what would happen if humanity spiralled downwards. Survival of the fittest or most advantaged (the blessed) reigns supreme…
Although Fire Punch was undoubtedly a painful, depressing experience full of suffering, It’s something I thoroughly enjoyed and holds a special place in my heart as it got me through some difficult times where i struggled to find meaning, just like Agni
Overall, Fire Punch is a work that shows us the worst in humanity, yet at the very same time it's a hopeful one that encourages us to live as it puts forth the message that even if the world has gone to shit and life is inherently pointless, you can still create meaning for yourself or find a reason to live, just as the characters in the story had different reasons they chose to live for. Give it a shot, and experience true, unbridled, unadulterated Kino (or peak fiction in layman’s terms)

It was extremely edgy from start to finish...
The art was beautiful though. the character designs of the Angels were ethereal and breath-taking. They looked beautiful and terrifying at the same time, which makes sense for a higher being.
The battle mechanics of this "battle Royale" was very refreshing as it featured fresh original ideas and concepts
However that's everything good that can be said about this work... the rest of the manga was rather mediocre in terms of depth and it featured rather shallow, surface-leveled character development, where some characters had personalities equivalent to cardboard.
But The ending was something I did not expect redeemed all
...
the bad writing and made reading this work worth it in my opinion

It's sad how overlooked this show is because of all the sequels and big name shows this season. Kemono Jihen really is an underrated, hidden gem that hooks you in from the first episode.
The show may look kiddy to you but don't let appearences fool you as it is a surprisingly mature and dark show. Part of the new wave of "darker" shonens that are unafraid to show morbid, disturbing things every so often.
That said, even though the atmosphere when our gang goes out solving mysteries is often dark and unforgiving and contrasts heavily from the lighthearted and wholesome slice of life moments that
...
are equally as enjoyable, Kemono Jihen still preserves a lot of its childlike innocence as we slowly discover what it means to live as a normal person, and not a monster with our protagonist, Kabane.
Our main cast, which comprises mostly of kids so far, are all extremely endearing and adorable characters you can easily empathise with or relate to. They all have their own unique traits and personalities and I really enjoy the genuine and sincere interactions they have with each other in their found family of sorts. I've never felt this deeply attached to a cast of characters from an anime in a really long time, which attests to the anime's skillfulness at tugging at your heartstrings as the emotional moments will really get you feeling something.
I'm only 5 episodes in so far but Kemono Jihen has been a brilliant, competently animated show this season everyone ought to check out

Chainsaw Man is a breath of fresh air in today's overly-saturated isekai manga landscape as well as amongst its rivals/comtemporaries in jump. It doesn't rehash traditional character archetypes or stick to long established shonen cliche anime/manga tropes. Instead, it delivers an original, compelling, and even believable work of fiction.
story: 10
At first glance, Chainsaw Man may seem like your typical run off the mill shonen story. where the good guy pummels baddies and saves the day. but right from the get-go, you'll quickly realise that it ain't so typical, it's a morally grey, nuanced read. Chainsaw Man throws convention out of the window and does
...
so right at the beginning with its main character/antihero, Denji, who is just a kid with simple goals and not so noble, but earnest intentions. If you've read author Tatsuki Fujimoto's previous work, Fire Punch, you would know that this author loves throwing curveballs out of nowhere. Chainsaw Man is no different. Just when you expect an outcome of something to head in a certain direction, Fujimoto destroys your preconceived theories in the next chapter, subverting your expectations completely. Some might criticise this unpredicatable narrative as being inconsistent and a turn off. but I disagree completely as it keeps things interesting and leaves you in anticipation for more, and Fujimoto, being the genius that he is, somehow always makes these shocking developments natural and believable.
Art: 8
The artstyle is simplistic and sketch like throughout chainsaw man compared to his previous work but when fujimoto really wants to get his point across, he really nails it. Those double spreads and Fight scenes in particular are really detailed and gorgeous.
Characters: 10
I really appreciate how Fujimoto took the effort to ground the world of chainsaw Man and its characters to reality. They are all very unique with their own quirks and motivations. They are also layered, and get development as things progress. Even the minor side characters are memorable through their various interactions with members of the main cast that are often very movie-like.The world of Chainsaw Man is a bleak, frightening place where death is lurking at every corner, and life is fleeting. As such, I really appreciate Fujimoto's efforts to convey that sense of despair and fragility of life either through sentiments of its characters, or through the plot. When the characters themselves acknowledge the messed up circumstances they are in or how screwed up some things are, it gives the story a sense of realism, if you will.
Final score: 10/10
Overall, Chainsaw Man is an extremely engaging and fun ride. If you are tired of stale, uninspired stories where you know exactly what is going to happen next. You would love Chainsaw Man to death. Just like I do.
