I hope you have lots of fun!
In fact, looking deeper into production, you can truly tell how little respect Taniguchi had for the hardcore fans who ate up every scrap of content. The character Nonette Enneagram became a fan favorite in the game "Code Geass: Lost Colors" but was slated to be murdered alongside Monica by their own comrade KuruDouchey in the series, so she was replaced with Dorothea Ernst, who was still listed as Nonette in the subtitles of the earliest version. So Taniguchi essentially killed off a fan-favorite character in such a comically disrespectful way just so no one but Lelouch could be right so an icon could be made from such a poorly written story.
The more you know, the less respect you have for the overall product. I guess I also love-hate Code Geass too, but it's more the kind of love-hate where I have never been more disappointed in an anime in my life--and the fandom and its popularity doesn't help, either. When it comes down to it, I feel that Lelouch is the root of all its problems. By creating a singular icon for the script to praise, Taniguchi pushed everything else to the side--whether it be more logical plot points or wasted characters. But by doing that, he also created an extremely messy story that becomes a study of how not to make an anime. It's iconic for Lelouch--and that's it. What a repertoire.
No hate intended. I'm just letting you know a few behind-the-scenes factoids that are important to the final product that most people don't even think about. Even before knowing those things Suzaku's actions in the final few episodes and pretty much every main character's personality and motives never sat right with me, either. (Remember how racist Kallen was? The writers didn't in R2 until she needed to look "badass.") Well, here's hoping Monica and Dorothea will see justice fulfilled in Z of the Recapture.
Anything you have been watching lately?
