The first season of Kimi to Boku had its flaws, but it still managed to be an enjoyable slice-of-life anime with its relaxing atmosphere and well-balanced humor. Despite the unfortunate addition of Chizuru Tachibana, the core cast still carried the show.
However, Season 2 is where everything truly falls apart.
Instead of improving the pacing or character development, the story focuses even more on Chizuru, amplifying everything that was already unbearable about him in Season 1.
His humor is still forced and unfunny.
His presence feels even more disruptive to the original character dynamics.

At first, Kimi to Boku seemed like a solid slice-of-life anime. With a simple premise about four childhood friends navigating their daily lives, it delivered lighthearted humor, a cozy atmosphere, and natural chemistry among the main cast.
One of the biggest highlights for me was Matsuoka Shun, whose presence brought an entertaining trap comedy element that worked exceptionally well within the story. The original character dynamic was already engaging, making the interactions feel effortless and fun to watch.
