I will start saying that this show for sure will have a 100% rate for misleading content in reviews, both positive and negative.
In this one, I will tell you what does work in this anime, what doesn't, and what do you have to expect to watch and enjoy this.
Basically, a true review.
Too easy to just say "mastahpiece!!12!1" or just start saying it's trash because it has controversial themes, has sex scenes, you didn't like it, or a combination of the three.
The anime ain't perfect of course, it has its flaws, but it also has a lot of strengths.
The first note, though, is that the anime
...
has very controversial themes in it, so if you are not well receiving controversial content, avoid this anime without any doubt.
The themes include but are not limited to: sex, sexual violence, gory violence, cruelty, betrayal, revenge, irrationality, blame shifting, torture, depravation, corruption, self justification, arrogance, abuse of power, massacre.
Let us start with the rights and the wrongs now.
What this anime definitely did right:
- Revenge with no buts. Saying any character seeking vengeance is irrational would be very wrong. Instead, every single character that enacts revenge in this show has a very solid set of rational rules and morality in mind, that will be followed strictly. That said, the moral itself will be bloody wicked and evil, and nothing good for the target will ever come out of it. However, not all revenge will be inherently bad for everyone. For example, the protagonist has sworn to never directly harm anyone who never opposed him. Sure, he didn't say he would protect them from his enemies at all costs, but as long as they don't get involved, he will not act against them. On the other hand, his enemies do not give this courtesy to bystanders. It's clear that protag-kun is better than them, come on!
- The protagonist. He started his revenge because he was the first one being badly mistreated and abused. He decided to give back everything as it is, twofold, threefold, tenfold. He feels he is justified because of it. He is justified because of it. He said so. They are evil, they deserve it.
But despite all of the above, the protagonist is very aware that he is not the good guy either. And he never claims to be, and never intended to do so. He will even get to the point of letting people do evil deeds under his nose just to be justified afterwards in punishing them. For his satisfaction. Also he is a badass and he always gets what he wants, because when he wants something, he just reaches for it and grabs it. He doesn't need to ask or wait to be rewarded for any good consequence of his actions, he just claims what he knows belongs to him. Then he also accept rewards, of course, why not.
- The OP protagonist trope. The protagonist was not much powerful at first, but he used his prior knowledge of four years to be an omniscient observer over his past, and because of that, he obtained power he wouldn't be able to obtain otherwise. Not a perfect way to portray this trope, but good enough. At least it explains why, when and how he becomes more powerful.
And still, we are shown that he's not invincible, yet. He is powerful, he has knowledge, he is making allies, he is manipulating other people, he's pulling strings. All of this to cover for his weakness. It's all part of his master plan.
- The antagonists. They deserve it all. They did something terrible to him, giving them back the same and more is the very least. Also they're evil and corrupted and are bringing the world towards its ruin. The anime is clear about this. And if you root for the protagonist, you will agree. He will save the world, in his own way, without ever being kind to anyone to whom he doesn't feel they deserve it, and will take everything he wants as his own belonging, because he has that right. You know, the one right he granted to himself.
- There are no heroes nor antiheroes here. Maybe some secondary characters will look like that at the start, but they will be forced to take a stance sooner or later, losing their moral high ground. The protagonist will act as an antihero from the people's perspective, but in reality, he is just the villain of villains, which is very different. Stain from BNHA is an antihero. Keyaru is an antivillain.
- The show doesn't fear showing sexuality themes, that are viewed even above bloody violence for some reason, and shoves it in your face all the time. Confidence feels good.
- The show portrays rape, and while it doesn't directly glorify it, it doesn't always demonize it either, and doesn't fear going "an eye for an eye" even for rape. If the average anime fan can tolerate violence for violence, the cultured anime fan will tolerate rape for rape. And will look at it and say "it's always x for x, so it's fair, regardless of the theme", without hypocrisy.
And now let's get to the flaws of the show:
- Completeness. The anime suffered what most light novel and manga adaptation suffer: the number of chapters adapted was very low, and the story didn't go much further. It could've explored way more, but like that, it just publicized the source material a little bit, and not more.
Will definitely be a pity without a sequel, because very little material will be actually be adapted
- The sex scenes itself. The anime really didn't bring any justice to its source material, be the light novel, or the manga. In both source materials, the sex scenes blended very well with the story, and you could feel the badassery from the protagonist, smashing on the battlefield and then smashing hoes in bed. In the anime...well, the scenes were bad hentai 10-frame loops, and the voice acting was lackluster there too. The vibes I got from the source material weren't there at all. Definitely the biggest let down of this anime, imo.
---
Overall, the anime is definitely a watch.
Despite adapting not much, and having failed in the sexy bits part, the revenge part is actually amazing, and an overpowered wicked evil protagonist like Keyaru enacting his vengeance like a boss, against a bunch of even more terrible foes, is just priceless.
So go forth and become a HealBro, you too!

This anime is misunderstood.
For sure you've read somewhere some rant about the maid being a full-fledged pedophile as the main theme of this anime, but there is nothing that could be more wrong.
Sure, the comedy skits may sometimes seem to lead in that direction, as well as the (ironic jokes) recurring phrases from a certain character, but in reality there is nothing more than simple affection and the relationships between all characters are platonic at most (as it should be in a non-h show). Despite the heavier irony it pushes, for comedic purpose, this show is more innocent than you think.
This gets properly unveiled
...
and explained in later episodes, but it's already possible to discern it with attention from the very start.
From now on slight spoilers may be present. Beware.
This is a story of love. But not a romantic one.
This is the story of two people who were on the verge of despair after losing everything.
Two people who suddenly found a light in front of them, a light that was destined to nullify that despair and bring happines back in their lives again.
Those lights were nothing else that each other.
The story unveils their lives, that were apart from each other, as well as falling apart, until that moment, intertwining with each other and healing themselves in the process.
The story shows the growth of both characters, that with their weird interactions, started learning how to enjoy life, and start living once more.
The show doesn't spare you moments of hardship, but knows how to appease you when it's time to show moments of joy.
This show is a metaphor for life.
A weird life, that is.
In conclusion, I have to add this: personally I don't really care if this story, continuing in the source material, will end with romantic elements between the two main characters down the line, after some years, when Misha is grown up.
There, I said it. To be fair, if she's an adult when it happens, there would be no problem at all.
There isn't any coercion or abuse from Tsubame to make you hurr durr at grooming, nor there is planning (unless you count the romantic delusion gags as planning).
You maybe could miss it at the start, with all the jokes and such, but after the big reveal, you'll have to concur with me that Tsubame set very strict boundaries for herself, that she never surpassed, and she really never did something to make Misha uncomfortable beyond help or go against her desires and will. Sure, some actions may have made her uncomfortable from a (spoiled) kid's standpoint, but that was still within the limit of what a parent would do (and her dad was always fully informed about things and gave permissions, by the way) to make their kid somewhat "uncomfortable" (with quotes). We're talking about helping someone to grow, not to force them to do so, or something else, o making them hate you.
TL;DR there is no planned, forced or abusive grooming in this. I don't see Misha falling for Tsubame anyway, but I wouldn't mind if she ever does.

I watched the TV version of this show 10 years ago, when I was new to anime, when I was in my ecchi phase consuming every lewd show possible, and thought it was trash for a lot of reasons, but mainly because it was inconclusive, and empty after all.
Just the other day someone told me there were two 12 episode versions of Kiss x Sis, where the OVAs took a long time (5 more years, until 2015) to complete, and they were just way better, and ecchi-er.
So I gave it a chance for the sake of the old ecchi days, hoping it would wash away
...
the old bad experience with the TV version.
I thought maybe, maybe, the TV series is the only one being trash, while this one, without the TV limiters, was the actual good product. Maybe.
One may say that this is the best ecchi ever, because it goes beyond your usual tits-in-your-face ecchi, with random panty shots and stuff, because it is not a generic harem but focuses on the main trio, because it shows plenty of extremely sexual things but without crossing the line.
My issue is exactly this. The line. It is actually okay to cross it, while being afraid of doing so and avoiding it is just...bad.
Back in the day, anime were not afraid to show characters crossing the line, even in non-h shows.
Nudity? A little bit is just fine. If I take a shower or a bath of course my nipples are in plain sight, no big deal, no need to crop stuff or to put arms and soap dispensers as convenient censoring. Nudity is not grotesque or scary. Really.
Sex? Humanly normal. Couples in relationships have sex, so a sex scene here or there, or even mentioning "having done the deed" is just average.
Heck, some NORMAL anime had uncensored lower parts, 10-20+ years ago.
But for ecchi? Nope.
Ecchi, and modern anime in general, is afraid of sex, and later it is becoming afraid of nudity too.
Even mentioning the sole act is taboo, if your show is below R rating, lol. C'mon even 7 year old kids know what sex is and that people do it.
The fear of sexuality is not the case for Kiss x Sis of course.
Here of course it is mentioned.
Here of course there are lewd acts.
But actual nudity? Oh no, none at all. Visuals are the tamest of tame anime, if we don't count implicit acts. Smooth crotches and nippleless chests, because this is how people like it! Cowards.
Sex? Heck, you show incest, that a lot of people dread as a taboo, but actual sex that should be normal? Show the former, avoid the latter.
Because all the wicked shit this show shows is normal for the writers of the anime, but sex would be too much. Yeah right, people normally would do all this stuff before having sex, or without having sex.
In reality, most of the stuff shown here would be normal in a healty sexual relationship, after having had sex, but ecchi like this show apparently work in reverse.
You take the steps in the opposite direction, and then stop before the last step and procrastinate indefinitely. I wonder if they end having sex in the last chapter of the source material just for shit and giggles, but seeing this, I have my doubts, lol.
And this is what upsets me the most about ecchi shows.
They're all in reverse.
^ and this is why hentai is better. They show everything without fearing "the big bad sex thing"
"Oh but this is for the sake of turning on"
I don't think normal people would be turned on by TASTELESS sexuality like this, at least in my opinion.
In conclusion, this show is almost decent overall, but not for its ecchi-ness.
This show can be enjoyed for the comedy and romance aspects, more than anything else.
Kiss x Sis is the perfect example of a ecchi failure.

The top reviews with such low scores fill me up with sadness.
This is a show which is very heavy-handed with its on-screen erotic content, and the amount of people who will think less of a show for this reason is greater than the amount of people who still enjoy the content and can still take the story seriously.
And that is sad because they fall, again, in the same fallacy where they judge a show for its genres instead of its content. We're not in the early 1900s goddamnit, no need to be such a puritan...
A lot of people consider this show a "guilty pleasure" "trash
...
but I like it" sort of show.
Which is dumb memery nonsense. If a show is enjoyable to you, it is good. Full stop.
If it was really trash, you would hate it. Otherwise it would mean you ONLY like trash...see how stupid it sounds?
"Anime is trash and so am I", self deprecating anime culture at its finest.
Nobody really believes that. Heh.
Domestic na Kanojo takes itself seriously. It is well directed, and has good characters.
Sure, the situations the characters get in to are way over-the-top. But that's the point.
The motivations for the characters, and how their personalities are portrayed, and how they act... they have deeper personalities that actually influence how they act, and they DEVELOP to a level which is above most other anime's development.
That's a lot, for an anime. Most anime would wish to have this much development.
"Normies" just can't get over the love triangle, incest and sexually explicit themes, because they are "controversial" and they can't just take it. (this is why gatekeeping anime was good, when too many people watch it, shit like this happens, people don't want to be excluded but then scream "scandal" when they witness what it was all about).
(Too many people hold worldviews and ideologies which would prevent them either from watching the show without bringing preconceived notions into and casting judgment on it from astride a moralizing high horse. <- this is about the incest part, even though it's not even real incest, in most countries your parents re-marrying do not affect at all the capability of having relationships)
It's anime people, it's fiction, anything goes, don't be biased and treat this like real life.
I would bet a lot of people who rated this a 6 or a 7 out of 10 probably enjoyed it more than some other series they scored 8 or 9, scored this high because stuff such as "beautiful visuals, music, ""objective masterpiece"", etc". People lie, even to themselves, when it comes to this stuff, lol
Speaking of the "controversial themes", this anime falls in the same category of Eromanga Sensei. It is a good show, a very good show, but the themes hold people back. Also, a part of this themes isn't even really there, but people see them anyway and deem it bad for that.
I would write a review about it too, but after a glimpse to the reviews, it seems like someone already did it (https://myanimelist.net/reviews.php?id=250858).
If you're interested in this show, you would probably like that one too, take a look at that review in that case.
Back to DomeKano.
Talking about explicitness, the original anime itself has no direct explicit scenes, so it's quite tame compared to most ecchi, but unlike most of those, it actually tackles the issue directly, mentioning it and talking about it. Because sex isn't a taboo, it's just normal.
The BD version is just a cherry on top, for cultured anime viewers, adding the sauce everybody expected from this! :D
There aren't many shows like Domestic na Kanojo.
It has mature themes, it's well-paced, and it takes itself seriously while fully being aware that it is going to for shock factor and drama.
It is a bold show. It takes guts of steel to make something like this.
So in the end, a question remains: Do you have the guts to watch it and admit you like it, yourself?
Read the manga if you liked this. It's finished and fully fantranslated to english.

Note for the reader: this is a serious review. If you're here for the memes, look elsewhere.
If you're like "is this person for real? 10/10?", look elsewhere.
You wanna watch this? Sure I hope you know what you're going to watch.
In any case, this anime is not for everyone.
But it doesn't mean it's bad.
The genre of the anime should NEVER dictate the maximum quality of a show.
It's on the same level of saying to a successful modern musician "you're not making real music".
This is a real anime.
...
A hella good of an anime.
However.
If you don't like ecchi, this show is not for you. If you watch it, you're doing it either to explore the genre that was unknown to you, or you're doing it to get offended. Assuming you watch the anime at all, that is.
If you like ecchi but not at the level of this anime (it goes very far), I don't know why you should keep watching past episode 1 after discovering what this was about, maybe to get offended? No one was able to enlighten me.
That said, let's go to the technical part, where the actual content gets judged.
Without spoilers of course.
The review will be 100% spoiler free.
The art is very well done, it's consistent and has no drops in quality, it doesn't lack in detail, there is some action and the animation does its job. Also no random Crap-GI to cut the budget.
Unlike your average repeat-the-same-10-frames hentai, if this was an actual hentai, this would easily be the best hentai ever.
However, this is ecchi, so it's just the best ecchi ever.
Music. The opening is catchy and hilarious, and so is the ending. The soundtracks feel good when you hear them, and match the atmosphere.
Characters. The characters have the highest variety that any anime would have to offer. Unlimited races. Unlimited ages. Unlimited roles. Unlimited personalities. The sky is the limit.
Clichè? Stereotype? Oh no no no. There is everything there. Full rounded.
Story. Considering the ecchiness, the story is mainly about the characters and the world building, and less about actual progression. But there is backstory and characterization, like in the good hentais of the late 80s/early 90s.
About the world, it's better than most of the ambientations of most anime.
Conflict? Gone. Why make war when you can make love. (and get elected by promising more)
Racism? Gone. Every race lives in harmony. Even demons.
Sexism? Gone. Only female prostitutes? Only males can go to brothels? Naaah. Everyone for everyone.
Prejudice? Gone. You try then you judge. And you can dislike, but for sure you will not hate.
Everyone does the work they love, no work is shamed or considered filthy, everyone is given a chance to shine.
So what's the story about?
Since sex work is, finally, not seen as degrading (as it should be even irl), brothels are the norm.
And the story follows our protagonists adventuring and tasting the bountiful booties of every race in existence! Elf girls, cat girls, monster girls, you call it! They have every single one of them.
Gender? Doesn't matter. There are males, female and any other gender out there, workers.
Nobody is seen as an object. Sex is a talent, a profession, and pays.
Unlimited fetishes. Unlimited places. Adventure!
There's also adventure. But that's secondary. I mean, a well rounded MC has to be OP as well.
Stunk kicks ass. Zel kicks ass.
Crim... resists everything, is cute -> forgiven even without kicking ass. Everyone agrees.
There is absolutely nothing to complain about this anime other than the fact that it may not be directed at you.
In that case, don't watch it.
There are things someone doesn't want to watch.
Everyone has some unfavourite genres.
But no hard feelings or shame.
Kink shaming is bad!
Very few anime manage to dig into the sexuality theme, without avoiding to be lewd at any cost (almost like they fear showing two characters getting intimate or even mention "we had sex"), yet without becoming disrespecting/outright depraved and immoral.
Rather, it becomes quite refreshing.
An healthy way to portray sexuality. As free: free of expression, and inclusive.
Sex is not dirty.
Sex is loving.
And fun.
And for everyone to enjoy.
This anime in two words: sex positivity.
Something we need in this world of ours, full of negativity about literally everything.

First things first: turn your brain off to watch this.
And no, I don't mean in a digibro-overanalyzer way, just the critique part of the brain.
You don't need it here. You're here to watch funny shit. Here's some.
The scores above are not explanatory enough to define this anime so I will put some more here, also giving half points where necessary.
Plot: 8
Completeness: 5
Ecchi: almost non existent
Conclusion: 9
...
Art style: 7
CGI: 5
Sound: 6
Characters: 7
Enjoyment: 7.5
Overall: 7.5
Plot and completeness:
I didn't read the manga, but I feel an episode 1 is missing.
World building is rushed and some characters (Mizuki) are taken for granted.
The ending is a little short too, I feel there could've been an extra episode about the last episode's last minute.
Apart from that, assuming the manga has those parts, the plot is complete enough.
The events happening are what you expect from this type of story. Don't think too much about it.
As for the story itself, there's no lack of wholesomeness and the tropes are your typical isekai ones, and if you like isekais like me, you're set!
The ecchi!
Despite the anime being harem-ish, there's little to no ecchi, and literally only one scene on ep 10 could be un-cropped for a BD version. Apart from that maybe two minute of baths with towels on and not much convenient censoring. Apart from one washing scene all of it is fairly innocent and not lewd.
And all the girls' feelings are genuine and there's close to no unneeded "lewd for the sake of it", you can literally feel the affection over the fanservice.
Surprisingly refreshing considering the genre.
Also MC is consistently being faithful to his love interest(s) without acting clueless/dense around any of the girls more than necessary, and after that, the relationship progress is not lost. You know, that good trait, of not being a cardboard (that people hate a lot on characters like Kirito, for example). More harem anime need a MC like this one.
Conclusion:
Not spoiling.
It's not open nor unsatisfying in any way.
(other than making you want an extra episode with last minute's contents that is)
Art style and CGI:
The art stile is average, but it's generally good looking and the quality remains consistent throughout the story.
There's a fairly high use of CGI, especially for armies, chariots and arrows. Some is almost undistinguishable, some are a little less well done, but there's no crap one. In this regard this anime did better than a lot of "good" anime that instead make use of occasional low budget garbage CGI for some scenes (ex. Lancer in some scenes of the Fate HF Movie I), if not consistently using it for stuff in background (ex. Girls' Last Tour).
So overall not appalling CGI, mostly decent, but used a little too often than necessary.
Sound:
The music wasn't bad, but I can't remember any tune I heard during the anime after watching it.
So decent but not memorable. 6/10 for me.
Characters:
Nothing out of ordinary.
There are stereotypes, but the characters are not flat as cardboard.
Except maybe some specific ones that suffered the lack of a first episode with world building.
Enjoyment and overall score
In the end despite the plot lacking complexity, it was a good ride, and left me satisfied with the ending, and no need for a season two.
edit: apparently the anime took an original turn (less harem) compared to the source material (more harem, different main girl), and I thank them for that...romance > harem, always.
If only they didn't cut world building...I would give this a 9/10 and thank them for improving the source material, lol.

Just yesterday I ended watching this series.
...
To be frank, before ep 1, I wouldn't give any credit to it at all, I just expected it to be another Black Bullet (I enjoyed BB by the way, but didn't like the mindset about MC), but I had to change my mind soon.
I didn't watch this series all at once, thus I got satisfied first by the first 3 episodes, but I also got tricked by them, thinking the show was a certain type of story: good, but nothing out of the ordinary.
I was wrong. Oh hell yeah I was wrong. I got really surprised by the story evolving, transforming, and ending in that way. I cried a bit, too. I'm weak to emotional stories.
Yeah, this anime is a tragedy. Prepare to cry. Try not to. Cry a lot. Keep tissues close.
This anime is seriously the revelation of this Spring 2017 season without any doubt. I can't say I'm not happy to get surprised like this. This anime was in my "maybe" list and revealed itself one of my new favourites. I hope now the animes I think I'll like won't let me down.
And now, to the "detailed" review. It may contain slight spoilers, but I'll avoid spoiling too much. Readers are advised.
Not everything is sunshine and rainbows, and so it is this anime.
But what it made this anime outstandingly good is not because "I know this will have a bad end or a good end with an huge deus ex machina" but because the way characters behaved during the story.
It's all about the journey, not the destination.
I've seen more pure characters and feelings in these 12 episodes than in all the series I watched in the last year so far. Not even a single bit of ecchiness/dumbness in the scenes, and all the relationships between characters were genuine and sweet. It was relaxing, yet, thanks to the soundtracks, even with very few fighting scenes, you could feel all the tragic and emotional moments perfectly.
That's what made a difference, in my opinion, between this anime, and a lot of other similar-setted LN adaptations.
I didn't miss the lack of action at all.
What made this anime was the beautiful art, the soundtracks and the feelings of the characters.
It's not all about fights. Even though they decide everything in the end.
And that's what the plot is about.
Going on fighting will destroy you.
So...will you?

Okay, time to write my review of the movie I saw just few hours ago.
...
Apparently this section isn't intended to spoiler too much, so I'll try to not spoil too much, but I'll warn you beforewards: THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS, mainly on the first part of the movie.
I was really hyped for this, and I'm quite disappointed after watching the movie now. I expected much, much, much more from this.
As you can see, my ratings are quite divergent, I'll briefly explain why.
post edit: after reading the manga, my overall rating is now 6, they cut out a lot of important stuff, especially in the end, that could make my rating an 8...bad adaptation for sure...
Art and Music, nothing to say, they're really out of this world.
The drawings are very pretty and coloured, and the soundtrack fits perfectly all the emotion moments of the movie.
I'd lie if I didn't say I quite enjoyed the watch anyway, but mostly due to my expectations lowering during the view.
Let's get in the slightly spoily part. The characters.
Man, I didn't see so many weak and bad characters all at once.
Really, if I had to spot a normal person in all this movie, there is only one (and that's also the best girl).
As a person that experienced bullying, getting betrayed, blamed and stuff in the past, I couldn't really stand any of the main characters, seriously.
I felt really awkward during all the movie.
Every five minutes I felt like going through the screen to punch someone in the face.
The ending didn't match my expectations either, but I won't spoil anything about that. It was probably the best ending given the premises.
To end the review I'd say that every person that likes good art and music, and lived an happy childhood and adolescence, can quite enjoy this movie.
If not, you can, like me, spot the flaws and spend 2 hours watching drama.
