First, let me start by saying that if you are seeking some type of cute well-made slice of life, this anime is not what you are looking for. Despite what it looks like, this is not a show about a responsible adult looking out for a teenage girl.
The first episodes are somewhat enjoyable if you disregard all the sex appeal that comes with it. There is a relaxed atmosphere around the anime and you actually care about what the show has to say.
Unfortunately, the wheels come off and the show looks more and more catastrophic. The female characters are one-dimensional robots that fall

for MC out of nowhere. Sayu is a disaster of a character who, despondently I say this, the epitome of entire existence is merely to boost MC’s ‘’greatness’’.
The writing is so bad and stereotypical that I only think they did it for the clout, there’s no layer of density, which leads me to think the author didn’t have any social exposure in any of his life.
You can think to yourself that this is only one of those bad stolid animes that come out every season, but, NO, it’s not. The subtle way that this anime soft pedophile relationship is something far more disturbing than other lurid shows. A lot of YouTube channels monetizing over something that should not even be mainstream is shameful.
The most likable character (masses POV) says things like, ‘’From listening to you, I can tell your past has been rough. But there was a reason for it. I promise it.’’, after hearing Sayu’s traumatic experience and basically being abused by older guys. People were praising this character for spouting this nonsense?
Yoshida-Sayu relationship is problematic, but yet people have trouble realizing this. I think the main reason is obvious, and although I may not sit at the cool kids’ table in the launch for saying this in such an underground community, I will regardless say it: Yoshida’s characterization- white cool looking guy- gives him the free pass to be flawed (a.k.a, committing a crime), I think you all know what word exactly describes this. The lack of right characterization numb people’s reaction which leads to some bizarre things like this anime happening because he is a cool guy white, right? He can’t do anything wrong with Sayu.
Although the anime seemingly endless attempts to maintain some decency, the anime fails with its overly and repetitive fan service scenes. Shocking, there is even the acclaimed summer festival episode that prompts raise the couple’s relationship, which results in a gruesome scene of a 25y.o guy holding hands with a teenage girl.
People’s idiosyncratic reception to this anime gives an interesting anthropology study about the anime community.
