This is a great anime that has great production value. Now does it have its flaws? of course but I am rating this anime purely off of my enjoyment of it and not objectively, thats why im going to rant now.
Heavenly Delusion has some great aspects that really cater to my tastes and I'm not talking about her being (you know).
The anime does a great job of creating questions to the reader that are not answered yet as of the end of the first season and this is something that I personally enjoy and some might not. This aspect within the anime keeps on building
...
but as I have seen in other reviews, some are not particularly fond of this quality which I can understand.
My great appreciation and enjoyment from this anime though comes from the fact that does a great job of logically showcasing the human nature within a utopian society as well as a dystopian world. The side stories and the events the two main characters go through are very unique and different but it ties very well into the plot of the story. The anime does a great job of incorporating each character's significance and impact onto the story, some more than others. Each character is very memorable and have distinct aspects about them (maybe not personality wise, but nevertheless.)
The characters within heavenly delusion are not awkward and each have their own personality that fit very will into the role in which they are presented in. Although this is sort of the bare minimum, I have seen far too much anime with robot like characters that are copy and pasted from other anime.
Despite me complaining about that, Heavenly Delusion is not an exception to this but I feel as if it is justified in the certain circumstances in which the characters are presented in so I'm not too bothered by it. The characters are realistic in some ways but the anime still maintains it's playful and joking tone when needed but it can flip the switch very well when a scenario calls for it.
The mood changes is something that I quite enjoy aswell as it keeps the anime from being in constant suspense, making me grow tired of it. Although each anime does that one hot springs scene, Heavenly Delusion does a good job of atleast creating SOME significance in it. Does the fan service bother me a little? sure, I absolutely abhor fanservice as a gimmick in order to get fans, but I didn't really mind it here.
There are some themes that turn other watchers off but I am not particularly bothered by them. I can see the significance it has for developing the characters (in whatever way the author intends) and although some may not like the way in which scenarios played out, I just don't care. Particularly the SA scene, I can see what the author intended to do with that specific event and there could have been different ways to develop the character affected by it. Do I really care? Not too much for it.
Of course there are elements that are objectively not so good about this anime, like the sort of surface level themes that I could spot from a mile away when the anime was entering that particular section. It's not too bad because those themes sort of stack on one another to create a pretty good story that had genuine effort put into it. Although the effort sort of feels like an author mashing together concepts and genres he really enjoys writing and working based off of that.
This wasn't really an anime that I found too deep and meaningful to me personally, but the fun atmosphere it creates at times and the good plot has made me really enjoy this anime. The production value is top notch too.
Now if I had to rate this anime objectively and not off of my enjoyment? It would probably be a 7 with the characters, plot, and everything; but the fact that it is very fun for me and the fact that it was very fun for me and that it has some elements that I personally enjoy and really appreciate, It's a 9.
