Mixed Feelings
Toru is the put upon lackey of an add company and learns about a particular train. He thinks nothing of it, but little does he know that he is more closely connected to this train than he realizes...

Pros: The best part of this ova is the artwork. It has a very classic 80's style that is smoothly animated. It has some good gross/spooky imagery that fit the horror theme. It also does a quirky, comic book style word balloons to represent actions at some points, like the sounds of a fight. I had never seen it used like this in anime before and thought it ...

"Release serotonin! Overflow Dopamine! Glug Glug Glug! Relaxation Squad Valerian has arrived!"

Sweet Valerian is a bright, cutsey show very reminiscent of powerpuff girls.

The art is adorable with everyone being chibified and the main heroines transforming into super rabbits. The action scenes aren't that complex though. I gave it a high score because I really liked the character designs and the few instances of weirdly drawn characters thrown in. I also liked that it followed the story of a woman about to be married rather than a teen looking for a boyfriend, which was a refreshing change of pace.

I rated this so low however because the characters detract so much from it. They all seem one note: Kouzaburo is brooding and angry, the fiancee is a dolt with nookie on the mind, the police officers are ...

The Big O (Anime) add
When I was a young anime fan I saw this show on Toonami and was transfixed. To me this show was basically Batman with giant robots. However when I recently re-watched it i was horribly disappointed. The characters are well crafted, and the art and music compliment each other wonderfully with their noir style. The story is where this show crashes and burns. The beginning is very good, with lots of action, and even a few touching stories. As the show goes into the second season confusing flashbacks, convoluted plots, and heavy handed symbolism turn a fairly decent action show into a complete disaster. I ...
