Saruyama! and Lovely Complex deal with weird character couple, being the center of attention in the class because of this. They start out friends at first, but slowly realize the feeling they have for each other. I guess you could that the main characters were opposites, but were also perfect matches for each other. the art is also very similar and the story shares the same mood, very fluffy and light-heated, never getting too intense.

Both share a girl main character that has never had a boyfriend and attempts to get one. Risa (Lovely Complex) is taller then average and Haruna (Koukou Debut) has no fashion sense so they each get help from another guy, who they end up falling in love with.
