It has taken me a whole year to finish Horimiya.
This is not because it's bad, by all means. This is one of my favourite shows of 2021.
The reason it took me this long to finish it, is because I did not want this to end. Just like I didn't want my life to change, and my own personal days to end. My days of choices have been dragged out for a whole year since this show launched, just as I did with the last episode. But just when I've made the big choice to move on, I also finished Horimiya, and so did the
...
series' characters.
This anime is about who characters truly are, about changes, about luck and fate. Just like your life.
Unlike most series, these characters are not a thin smile and a name. They got depth. CloverWorks absolutely nailed that you, as a human, have different personalities. You seamlessly switch between them whenever you're in a situation. You would react and say some words when playing an online game with some friends, maybe some words you would never say in front of your grandma; different personalities. This is something the majority of stories forgoes. And that is what I love about this show.
CloverWorks unquestionably did wonderful work when it came to art and animation. To choose a clean slated messy style was a flawless choice and it turned out amazing! As a series centred around characters they did an astonishing craft when it comes to faces, and their eyes! Just lovely!
When it comes to the story it's fairly good. Keep in mind that this is a Slice of Life but it's still eventful, which I don't mind. There's a lot of character development in this story and I dig it.
This does remind me about how I got most of my own friends. It mostly feels like a stroke of luck on my end. Thinking back, there is a lot of small things that would change everything. Horimiya rhymes with that, to get a friend, there might just be a stroke of good luck that's needed. It doesn't need to be some fancy perfect work of history. Just a bit of good ol' luck.
Overall, I love this series. It shows a unique perspective on characters and character traits which many character centred show misses! It's not a hectic show and it is not afraid of just being in the moment and appreciating what's happening in the silent downtime. I can personally connect a lot to this series, so I may be a bit biased, but ain't that the purpose of reviews, to show your own biased thoughts?

To pursue one's passion.
To keep going, regardless of what those around you believe.
To do, what you love.
To light a tone, for those who have lost their melody.
To string a lullaby, for those who could not believe its possible.
To warble a litany, for those who have been waiting for the light to return.
This is what Takt Op. Destiny is about.
The musical piece is known as destiny. With magnificent art (and decent CGI too) which guides you through the series just like a conductor would guide a musical with their baton. They order the highs, just as this series music. An occasional symphony which Mappa wasn't
...
afraid to reserve for the climaxes alone. The simple minutiae, of something not too grand. A world deprived of music. Only to find the joy of playing a piano in some little back ally. Only some locals cheering you on between their sobs of something so magnificent, so divine. A rite, a litany. Played once to show the rhythms of hope. Played twice, as a soothing lullaby. Played thrice, for the makings of a melody. Played for the simple matter of joy.
But the highs aren't a conductor's sole job. They also guide you through the lows, the earnest, misery of a deserted viola. The goodbye of an old friend, a kinship which should have lasted for many tours. Which speaks of the series' characters. Some of them were the lonely viola. Strumming a wailing tone, only to slowly fade away as the tears swivels away your hearing.
But others were the violin, playing a little louder than everybody else, even when they got nothing to show. Just in order to tear the sheets of the orchestra. The same can be said about the story. There was certainly an apex, but some in-betweens (at least no true fillers) were more like a flat tone curve when it should have risen before a drop.
There are pros and cons to everything. Just as some may love the cello, the viola and the violin; other's prefer the electric guitar, the drums and some screams. I personally liked this show, especially when the concert begins. But this is not everybody's cup of tea. Though, I do believe this is worth watching.

"The sharpest fangs wins. This is what Killing Bites is all about!"
The sharpest fangs, the winning punch.
Blood, falling like higanbana's leaflets.
Passing on, melancholic bunch.
As death, takes you to the upcoming seasons.
But to the review,
Let's skip all the boooring parts and head to why I am even writing this...
...
It's the story.
On the surface, the story may appear shallow. I mean, this is an ecchi show with animal girls, isn't it? But if you listen in, and start thinking. It does take the story - or the behind-the-scenes story - a couple of steps further.
Without spoiling anything (trust me, I only gonna make sure your ears are sharp), think about the grand picture. If you - as an organisation - got hold over the Therianthropes recipe, and on top of it could control its uses.
That organisation would have lots of power. But most importantly, they can research this forward. I mean, if you can transform a person into an animal. How far are other animals? How about humans? How about faking persons, rules, and even presidents? (And now I can't tell more, otherwise, the bureau will flay me leaking business secrets)
"The sharpest fangs wins. This is what Killing Bites is all about!" literally.
You are meant to watch the game; only the game. That's why there are some visuals you know.
And as the grandmaster of Therianthropes recipe, you cannot forget to burn off any loose ends.
Now that the fun part's are over.
Story, YES.
For the normal viewer. Also yes. You don't have any 15 minutes information dumps on you. What the series tells, it tells shorty; or through fights. Remember future writes: "Show, don't tell."
Art, Ok.
Nothing too fancy, which is good. Wouldn't wanna take the focus away from the fighting.
Sound, Nice.
Lidenfilms paired nice epic music to epic fights. Also loves how the pack punches like gunshots. Because it will hurt.
Characters, Mediocre.
Nothing to fancy. Although, I would've love to see some foxes.
Enjoyment, Yes.
Both in terms of story and in terms of visuals.
Speaking of visuals:
They didn't overdo (except for one scene) the ecchi tag. A lot of series would throw their MC and side characters into two hundred awkward moments (I can't stand that) but Lidenfilm did not. Sure the camera happened to be at sweet angles, but there weren't these 5 minutes scenes of total awkwardness which follows the ecchi/harem tag all too often. Otherwise, I'm telling you, my score would have dropped by a lot.
Overall 8.
The behind-the-scenes story hooked me.
And the way they knit the sack was perfect. It was unexpected but made so much sense.
This show will also be one of your guilty likings!
Cheers from FoxPaw!
(Hope you won't notice all my misspells)

"Elohim, Essaim, Elohim, Essaim I implore you"
God on High, God of Hosts, God on high, God of hosts, I implore you.
It is basically asking god to capture people’s attention, so let me catch yours.
This is a story about a small lie, for a small price. For love, shared yet not shown. Your Lie in April. It all started with a white lie, lures you to take a step further, and snatches your heart straight out of your chest.
It has a gorgeous art style, colourful elegance. Really fits in with its joyful melodies and music.
I'm no sound technician, but
...
to me the sound was beautiful, like a autumn leaf falling in the moonlight. During the practices, when they played hard, harsh and wrong. A-1 Pictures played in such a way to make you able to distinguish whats wrong and right. Amazing on their part!
Over to personalities, what most have lacking. I missed a bit here too. There was great character building but I would like a bit more backstory and connection to Arima's friends.
Otherwise I really enjoyed it and therefore gave it an 8.
The serie also told, no matter how hard you try; there are things in life you cannot change, nothing lasts forever. So hold those you love tight, nerver let go, never forget, but remember; hold your head high, and move forward with pride for what have been. It definitely brought out some feelings of me, although if I look back, it's no at those time that it could suit best. But I also this really make me long for my hobbies, to reach out for my pen, which has been laying still for too long. Or my guitar, who hasn't chored in ages. It gave me a feeling, of wanting to perfect. To create my own masterpiece. To be my own masterpiece.
