CSH is a bit more serious than ToD but they both have similar amounts of action even tho they're kinda diff styles of action. These 2 actually aren't really that similar but trust me if u like one u'll love the other

Tales of the Abyss

The characters in both these animes are pretty similar. Also, they follow the same basic genres and have similar action styles. However in Tales of the Abyss it tskes a more serious turn throughout the story but i believe that is happening in the Tower of Druaga as well (in the second season Sword of Uruk)
