"People DIE when they are killed!"
Or so I thought until several episodes into this show when it becomes apparent that this might not be exactly accurate.. Attack on Titan pulled me in the instant I started watching it. I had very high hopes and truly wanted to enjoy this show.
Art - 8
This show is highlighted by a lot of very good art. The characters all have their own looks and the backgrounds are all fleshed out and are actually very gorgeous. The 3D maneuver gear scenes alone are worth 2 extra points, as they are spectacular, especially early on. The
...
only downfall is that the art is very inconsistent. It will be glamorous one second and then it will be ok for several scenes, sometimes even falling below the ok mark. The desperation that they try to paint on every character's face is very unrealistic, especially the bigots that are against the main cast because of their desperation or fear. They look more constipated than anything else. The art is definitely the highlight of the show, but it can definitely falter at times.
Sound - 7
Aside from the openings, I honestly can't recall much of the music from the show. It honestly left no impression on me whatsoever. The only exception being the music when Eren transforms. The voice acting was for the most part above average, and made me believe most of the characterizations.
Story - 5
Attack on Titan was full of untapped potential. It hit on so many amazing notes, but then failed to follow through in even the most basic of ways. I won't be one of those guys to say there are plotholes throughout, but I will say that a lot of the story simply does not make any sense. What the characters do doesn't make any more sense. Are we supposed to believe that a little kid can track down criminals and kill them without any training or reason/prior hatred for criminals? And why can't we have a series where the main character dies for once? it might have been a decent change of pace, if done correctly....speaking of pace, this story has none. I feel like I'm watching Katekyo Hitman Reborn all over again. By the second to last episode of the last arc, I honestly didn't care anymore, they had drawn it out to such an extreme extent. The first several episodes were fast paced and even had a time jump, then we get a drawn out five or more episode single day!!?? Why in the world could they have not given any kind of conclusion to any of the story whatsoever? There are like fifty unanswered questions, most of which are quite obvious to deduce in your sleep, there are so many cliches in the story.
But let's go into what Attack on Titan really is. What Attack on Titan really is, is a zombie/godzilla crossbreed. No one is safe aside from the main characters who will 'barely survive' then find a way to burn all the eggs, or find a cure, and send godzilla....the zombies....I mean the titans into hybernation or something like that. We even have the infection ideas, if no one picked up on the vomit eggs they pointed out in the later episodes.
Characters - 3
Eren - Annoying, Ichigo from Bleach, but more immature and less understanding, character. I actually liked Eren after his character "DEVELOPMENT", if you can call it that. Oh I got older so now I don't flip out at the drop of a hat. That's my development, but that's as far as it goes.
Me and my two friends are masters of the extremely hard to master 3D gear, as soon as we touch it. My girlfriend for whom I don't share feelings for, has unstoppable potential and loves me for convincing her to take another person's life when she was a child. My best friend likes to read books and is really nerdy meaning that he has the ability to command a losing battle into a winning one cause his book reading made him that tactically superior over the dozens of experienced tacticians on hand at any moment.
Wish fulfillment anyone? Mary and Gary Sue exist and they're having incest all over your dumb hopes and dreams of this being the best show ever.
Other characters have no development other than to state what their stereotype is. The ONLY exception being what's his face...the only guy who gets much screen time and whose friend is killed making him want to be a leader cause his friend always said he would be...that guy. But they don't DO anything with it. They just show him more often than any of the other side cast. Even the AMAZING Petra didn't get a quarter his screen time....for that matter why is everyone so hyped up about Petra? She had no development and was more friendship oriented than a 5 year old Naruto. (and yes I realize Naruto had no friends when he was 5 years old...it's part of my point) All she really does is whine about the main character not believing in them enough...over...and over...and over again. Sure it's a little sad about her family, but other than that I don't get the huge travesty that was, when we had literally no time to grow to love her.
Overall this show is pretty decent, but is overhyped to such an extreme I want to shout SAO, Naruto, One Peice, Bleach, etc. over and over and over again till people start pulling their heads out of their anuses.
I give this show a 6/10

As a longtime fan of this series, I do not take any pleasure in giving a poor review of this season of the show. The series up to this point, although it hasn't broken any traditions and was not necessarily original, it had a lot of heart and told a fantastic tale of friendship and creativity. Unfortunately, the third season does not, in my opinion live up to the standards of the original 2 seasons, and seeing as it has received nothing but rave reviews so far, I see it as my responsibility to clarify a few points.
Story - 7
The story continues
...
immediately from the previous season. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to go anywhere with it. It holds to the same themes of enduring friendship, perseverance (which is a fantastic thing in moderation), and love that lasts forever. Thee only thing that really changes is the adulthood factor the takes place in this season, which shows their maturity as adults and in relationships and in viewing younger people or noobies to their field of work. Unfortunately, this does not play well with this series as it effectively takes away a lot of the emotional connectivity with the audience and the youthful spirit of thee show. Even the idea of their manga creation gets played down and is less creative which is a significant part of the show, simply to make more room for unnecessary plot devices.
Art - 6
I may be being a bit harsh with giving this section only a 6, but it was one of my biggest qualms with this season of the series. Effectively, they have changed the quality of their art and humor by try to convey it completely through the facial expressions of the characters even going so far as to change the person's personality in the show completely in order to fit the "comical" value they are trying to get across. This has always been one of my least favorite things about anime. I know there are some people who love this facet of anime, and I appreciate that, but in my personal opinion it does not support the facets of this show. They also don't go anywhere at all with the art and are not creative in an way. about what they could do with it.
Sound - 9
The music and sound in this series is amazing and although the music never changes really, they do well with fitting the music and sound effects to the situation the characters are in. The only thing that has gone downhill and this is simply my personal opinion is the opening and closing music.
Character - 8
The characters really make this show, and they still have the same basic tendencies that we all love and know. Development, although skewed at times has changed them in ways that are enjoyable or understandable and the introduction of new characters that are fantastic gains to the series have really supported this show in a great way. The only qualms I have are with previous stated facts.
Enjoyment - 6
I find this season so far to be bland and quite cliche. Not much more I can say, although i can appreciate the growing up factor it is definitely not a bad thing but it just doesn't do anything. The art changes have really thrown me off and reduced my enjoyment from a 9 to a 6 which is a lot when it comes to me. (6's according to me are watchable time passers)
Overall - 7

Katekyo Hitman Reborn was a very hard anime for me to get into for several reasons. First, when I saw how many episodes were in the show, I was already a little anxious of what was to come. I have a hard time watching series longer than 60-80 episodes. Not only that but since it is a subbed only show, and for the longest time I despised subs, and still prefer dubs, I found it very hard to watch at times. I will do my best to review this show unbiased though.
Tsunayoshi Sawada is pathetic in every sense of the word.
...
He fails in everything he does, whether it be sports or school work, or anything else, he simply fails. He has no natural ability whatsoever. Or so he and everyone else thought until all of a sudden an unnatural baby called Reborn shows up in his life and becomes his tutor, completely flipping his life upside down, revealing that he is to be successor to a large mafia family known as the Vongola.
That is the premise of the show. And lets face it, how many times has this premise been used?
Katekyo Hitman Reborn is plagued with the downfall of most modern anime which is three things. An unspeakable amount of filler, going so far as the last season. Minuscule character development, as well as having an overabundant cast. And plotholes as far as the eye can see. To explain myself without getting into the later arcs of the show, lets just use Reborn's Deathperation shot to explain this. The theory behind the deathperation shot is that if you are shot with it you will be killed, but will come back to life with the desperation to commit yourself to the thing you regretted when you died as if your life is on the line. But on several occassions throughout the show, they have moments where Tsuna obviously does not want to and has no reason to regret not doing something that he comes back to do..if this is not a plothole I don't know what is. And for those who HAVE seen the entire show....that is NOT in any way how time travel works!!! It would have taken one episode, ONE episode to fix things and no one would have been in danger, But this show has its head so far up its own anus at times....*sigh* And I'm not even a scifi junkie or anything like that. I just hate it when they try to use something scientific or unoriginal in an anime and don't even think it out properly.
With over half the episodes being filler, I could definitely forgive this show if it had some good humor. And i can see how some people could find...a rare gem of humor here and there throughout. I personally though found myself not laughing at any of the overused jokes in this series. The entire series is comprised of one trick ponies and has no qualms with beating a dead horse.
The story as I said is so full of plotholes its not even funny, but not only that, they feel it necessary to have a fourth of every episode dedicated to telling you what happened before. And not in a classy manner, but in a way that entire clips from up to ten previous episodes are incorperated into the intro, also having entire episode dedicated to showing you the most boring parts of previous fights or 'important' scenes to tell you what's going on. The anime is NOT that hard to follow!! Not only that but the pacing is so eratic that its rediculous!! It doesn't have pacing is all i can say. Having up to 12 episodes for 4 hours, and then having a single episode tak up 12 days. Having episodes where you feel like its days on end then telling you this all happened in one day. Having the people relax for 6 days when they should be training then training for like 8 when their time limit was 10 days, but hey! What ultra villain would keep track of time?! In a nutshell here is the entire story. Tsuna and friends train with a tutor or two for dozens of episodes and this is only after all the filler, then a bunch of fights with overpowered enimies that make their training seem futile, but in the end the power of freindship saves the day, making all of the previous episodes completely null. Rinse. Repeat. In all honesty this series could have been formatted down to 64-72 episodes and it really would have been a show worth watching!!
I find it hard to believe it myself that i was able to sit through the 203 episods of this show. But I know why I was able to. I have a weakness for friendship related stories. And some of the combat, though predictable was a lot fo fun to watch. The art itself isn't very glamourous, but it does what it sets out to do.As such the music is only slightly above average on rare occassions. But when those occassions come it usually got me pretty pumped up.
So the final verdict is...watch it if you are curious and have time but I would never suggest this show to anyone who had a mentality over that of a 12 year old.`Unless they were obsessed with other overhyped shows like Bleach and Naruto (I did enjoy some of Bleach and am still reading the manga and enjoyed the Naruto manga so don't get me wrong). Enjoy the show if you decide to give it a chance, and just ignore most of the filler is the only advice I can give you. Btw...there is no straight man.

This review is only a personal opinion and should be taken as such.
Eureka Seven: Pocket Full of Rainbows made its way onto my shelves after I gasmed over it being in stores for about two hours before spending money that I honestly didn't have to buy it because of an amv I saw of it on Youtube. I was expecting to be wowed. I was expecting to be astounded. I was ready and willing to be blown away! ...What did I get? A load of garbage.
To begin I am a huge fan of Eureka Seven TV. But be aware
...
that even if I wasn't and had never seen the original series, this series would POSSIBLY only get one more point.
The movie opens to Renton and Eureka as children, making a point of how they were raised together. This opening is extremely cute and enjoyable. With a little plushy version of the Nirvash, and Dominic taking on the role of their teacher. Unfortunately after this short introduction everything changes. Several years later, Renton joined the military in order to find Eureka...How that makes any sense when he should hate the military for splitting them up and there being other ways (a.k.a. the way they did in the ORIGINAL SERIES of going AGAINST the government) to go about things. But anyways, there he is, and all of a sudden she's there in the middle of a battlefield (another thing that makes no sense when the military SHOULD have her kept safely hidden away..) Either way, we find out that Eureka suffers from Green I Am Legend disease, and we move on from there to a whole compelling (sarcasm) storyline.
Ok let me do this review correctly. I'll try to keep my ranting to a bare minimum.
Art 4: The art was VERY good for the most part, the character designs being the same as the original series. Unfortunately, they try to recreate things from the original series and epically fail at the same time. The nirvash's appearance for example is completely (very similar but definitely not the Nirvash I know and love) different, and not in a good way. Not only that but when it transforms (ONCE) it looks even worse. The art is good, but fails in areas I cannot forgive it for. So I give it a 4.
Sound: The ONLY reason this section got a 3 is for one reason and one reason only. Nirvash....SHOULD NOT HAVE A CHIBI'S VOICE!!! It's so stupid its painful. The most epic parts of this movie are completely ruined by this little voice screaming needles into my ears right at the most dramatic part of a battle. Other than that the sound was ok but not worht mentioning bringing nothing really new to the table and leaving out the best music it could have brought back, in much the same way the Death Note live action movies failed.
Character 5: I like how they change the characters around giving them different roles in this story, but that is the ONLY good thing I can say about the characters. They are all dolts and idiots. Eureka, unlike the series is a whiny little girl who always is relying on people and has no ability to do anything on her own. Renton becomes an angsty little pansy emo. The entire Gecko becomes cultist rediculously pregidoused pricks. Honestly making Anemone and Dominic the ONLY good characters in this movie and they make little to no appearance in the movie (Dominic only geting the beggining scene and then being bashed by Renton later on) The character portayals are disgusting.
Story 1: It is pathetic when you can't create anything origianl and rely on not only stealing great things from an amazing show and ruining them but also trying and failing to incorperate a childrens story. So apparently Renton and Eureka were RAISED in the Warsaw area?? It's like every cliche they COULD take from the original series they did. Then trying to make it out to be a Peter Pan in Neverland overall theme...it disgusts me. Creating nothing original is NOT what people want from a sequel to an amazing series and anyone who TRIES to say this is a standalone work after watching it I say you are a complete imbecile!! There is a whole major plot scene where they show an alternate world DIRECTLY connecting it to the original story!!
I give this a pass and I pray that anyone who watches this movie please remember that I did warn against it.

'I won't let all your hard work go to waste. This is my prayer, this is my wish. Fulfill it!'
Take with a grain of salt.
First I must warn you that this anime is not for all ages and not a show that all anime lovers will enjoy. The deep and extremely dark themes of this anime are NOT for children and should not be shown to anyone who is not interested in BOTH drama and tragedy, as well as extremely cute art.
The art is extremely well done but is not for everyone. First off, the character design is so intensely cute
...
that not all peole will even be able to watch the beginning parts for the fact of how ...I hate using this word, but moe the characters are. I will openly admit that the first two episodes move rather slowly, the real draw happens in thee third episode when it flips your ideas of the show on its head. This show does little to nothing to hide that fact that it is meant to be an intense and slightly insane show that will leave you baffled at points. And when it comes to the art in battles, the moe effect is lost in a world of eclectic art and a very unique pattern all in all making the show a very beautiful one.
So, if you can move past the art or just love it from the get go, let's move along to the story.
Madoka is your regular -underaverage- (teenage?) girl, who lives a normal life with her perfect family and her extremely tight group of friends. She is clumsy and can't do much right. She's not good in school and not much else happens. The series opens with her in a wasteland of destruction forced to stand by and watch a familiar girl she doesn't know being attacked and torn apart. And then she wakes up to her every day life. Another day...or so she thinks, when a new transfer student arrives in her class. It is the same girl from her dream. Unsure how to take this, she goes about her normal routine until she hears a voice in her head calling out for help. And so she meets and saves Kubey. A strange cat/bunny/vulpix like creature with the ability to grant any wish in exchange for the girl becoming a magical girl, and having to fight against beings known as witches.
The story begins in a very established fashion. Until it finally breaks apart every detail of what you think you know about this series and utterly destroys it in a way you would never guess. In my personal oppinion the ending was somewhat dissapointing. I feel like they tried too hard to make a point and failed in a way. Not to say it was a BAD ending. just not exactly my cup of tea if you know what I mean. I would say more but I don't want to give anything away.
The characters...I will admit I found most of them to be very bland and cliche. The series did not leave very much room for most of them to develop as to be expected from a 12 episode series, but the characters that WERE developed made amazing impacts on me later in the story. All in all the story has about 6 main characters only 3 or which get much focus. 4 if you include Kyoko.
The music is a huge bonus to the series. Every moment is full of such emotion due much to the great musical score written for this series. It was truly fantstic. The opening and ending of the series being extremely bipolar I found them both quite enjoyable, but the ending conveys the feelings of the entire series in and of itself. Even so much as to be used as a battle theme from time to time.
All in all I loved this series form beginning to end. I would suggest it to anyone who is not too picky and likes series such as Serial Experiments Lain or Neon Genesis Evangelion or Mai Hime, etc. As well as any other magical girl shows you might enjoy it can relate to a lot of them. I hope you all enjoy the show and are as captivated as I was by this fantastic series

'Art thou mankind?' 'Nay. I am the world. The world inside the gourd.'
I came into The Mystic Archives of Dantalian/Dantalian no Shoka (Hereafter known simply as Dantalian) with no expectations. The very first thing I noticed about the show was the art. It was simply put gorgeous. My eyes were fully engrossed with the shows beautiful use of color and artistry. To be completely honest with you my readers, this anime is worth a try for the art alone. If that were all I would say this was simply another run of the mill anime and that's
...
all, but not only that, but the music is simply fabulous. Orchestral pieces throughout the entire series fit the dark and enigmatic presence of the series as a whole. Making this a treat for both the eyes and the ears, where could this series go wrong?
I ask you to take the following with a grain of salt.
The story starts with Hughey Anthony Disward arriving at a mansion, inherittance letter in hand to take over his recently deceased grandfather's estate. With strict instructions to take care of the estate of the deceased bibliomaniac and his unfathomable collection of books, and to care for a being referred to in the letter only as Dalian. Assuming that Dalian is a pet of some sort, Hughey is surprised to find not an animal of some sort but a young girl.
As the story progresses you find that his grandfather was in a sense gatekeeper of a mystic and legendary library housing books tht no human should ever know the contents of, granting to some great power, but to the unworthy, catastrophe, misery, despair and death. Hughey proceeds to try to find as many of these books that his grandfather lent out as possible before they fall into the wrong hands or something horrible happens.
All in all, the premise is promising. The powers and the outcomes of using these books are quite intriguing and unique. But the series seems to rely on this alone as a driving point. Other than the two main characters, none of the cast gets much if ANY developement. And the only character that does seem to get any development is a very...unique character? In the sense that his driving force is to woo women...at all times. It introduces very unique themes and characters only to drop them or only include them in a few episodes. This is mostly due to the episodic way the entire anime works, but with no development the characters seem to be lacking in the final episode, which does try to link some of the questions together, but only adds more mysteries to the mix. Although I did love the two main characters, they both had...too little time to grow I suppose. Hughey doesnt seemt o change at all while Dalians changes are very small and hard to read and the questions of how she links to the other girl(s) they keep showing keep getting more and more relevant. I will have to say that if they don't add a second season, these questions will never be answered.
The only other qualm I have with this show is how hypocritical it is with the points that it makes. It makes a point of saying how 'some things aren't meant to be seen' or know...or something along those lines. Then saying about how the books are all meant for a certain person. Also saying things such as there being no such thing as magic or curses then having the character that made that point say about the curse on -that- family, or having a true sorceror suddenly appear in one episode out of nowhere.
All in all if you are looking for a treat for both the eyes and the ears, I definitely DEFINITELY suggest you watch this anime. I personally loved every minute of it and give it a 9 out of 10 as its good qualities are so outstanding that they far outweigh the bad. I hope that some of you find this review helpful and that you enjoy the show when you get the chance to watch it.

Imagine a world. A world where you can never die. A world where you can create things at a whim if you know something about it out of just plain dirt. And now imagine being born into that world and shortly afterwards being stabbed through the chest by a girl known as Angel.
This is the world of Angel Beats. In a sort of limbo after death, Otinashi awakens with no memories from his past to a world that boggles the mind. In this world a resistance force known as the '??? Battlefront' practically forces him to join in their fight against
...
an enemy that is so terrifying that words could not describe.....a little girl. Oh wait! She can sprout swords out of her hands and warp the movement of high speed bullets so they cant hit her. O.O Awaaaaah??
As Otinashi continues to work closely with the group member lead by Yuri, he learns that each of them is fighting to keep themselves from being obliterated. Which apparently happens the moment you give in to social reform at the only high school in this world....Talk about encouraging rebellious students. Which seems to be the only outcome as one of the constant missions of the group is to steal the entire student body's lunch tickets! Poor kids with empty bellies. How could they?! ....NPC? what's that? Oh, so they're NOT human?? ??????
This pretty much sums up the beginnings of Angel Beats. As the story progresses, the main protagonist finds himself learning more and more about his comrades and the lives they lead before coming to this world, and slowly realising some things about his own forgotten past, as they continue their seemingly endless and almost useless/pointless fight against Angel.
Angel Beats was beautifully coreographed, in both art and style, as well as having a compelling story with (-almost-) extremely believable characters. The story will thrill your eyes with the extrememly well animated fight scenes, while at the same time send your ears to 'heaven' with amazing music, as a band run by the battlefront plays for the student body. A treat for both the eyes and the ears. And both comical and emotional to boot! What could possibly be the downfall??
It's only 13 episodes. But for those 13 episodes it does extremely well. Filling every moment with fun, excitement, sillyness, heart-jerking emotions, etc. all into one. The story only seems slightly rushed while the characters who are important (main MAIN characters) get most of the spotlight, while others get little to no developement, which is quite depressing seeing as almost all the characters seemed worth investing in. The story itself doesn't really seem to exist, although it does at the same time, mainly relying on backstory to further the main plot.
All in all, Angle Beats was a very amazing show and a must watch for almost every kind of genre. Easily making it onto my top 15 in the first watch. Please enjoy the show. 8/10
(and please be gentle with ME XD this is only my second review)

So I pulled out my old monopoly set out of the basement and set everything up. I set the car (because come ON the car IS the best peice) on GO and Mr. Monopoly pops out and scares the living daylights out of me!
Has this ever happened to you?
Hikaru No Go revolves around a young boy, Hikaru who like every other Japanese child doesn't really care about his future, and has no real motivations toward much of anything except having fun. When one day he is trying to get some extra cash, he goes through his family's store house to find something to
...
sell, and comes across an old Go board with a bloodstain that only he can see. As soon as the go piece touches the board, a spectral form appears before him. This spirit is none other than Sai. A Go player and tutor to the emperor from an ancient dynasty. After loosing a rigged game of Go, Sai was disgraced and took his own life, but his spirit remained by his only desire to continue playing Go, and to perfect "God's Hand' or the Divine Move.
The story interweaves as Hikaru plays matches of Go for Sai to make the comaical spirit happy. Hikaru sees how hard the people around him are struggling to live their lives, and the passion they put into the game and finds himself more and more regretting his negligent lifestyle and wanting more than anything to play the game with the passion he sees in those he plays against.
Hikaru No Go is quite the interesting work of art. Revolving around a board game, in much the way (don't walk away) Yu-Gi-Oh revolves around card games, you would expect to be revolted, but the show is surprisingly well put together and enthralling the further you get into it. Each move (although you will probably not understand most of it) having its own purpose. At times becoming nothing less than inspirational. Watching this boy fighting to be the best he can be, seeing the human nature change. It is quite moving.
Story 7- It revolves around Hikaru and his rivalry with another Go player his age. It is a compelling story and fun to watch although having some flaws with the timing, it works well with itself and builds into something unforgettable.
Art 7- Although quite a bit older, the art is quite dazzling. Very fluid motions and very consistent throughout. The only flaw is that is given quite often to using still frames and moving the mouth without much else moving. It is nonetheless extremely eloquent for the budgeting and how often it was used. Null forgettable if only for the quaint speeches and thought provoking dialogue.
Sound 6- Taking into account both the dub and the sub, the sound is only fair. having a great opening music, the English dub has extremely poor, nigh, annoying voice acting making it nearly unwatchable. The sub on the other hand is beautifully done and makes, even a sub hater like me love it. Dub- 2 Sub- 9
Character 8- this is where the show shines. Building the characters, developing new personalites. Showing how each character grows. how they thrive off of each other and how they build each other up and gain new relationships. The characters themselves are all enjoyable in some way. Even the less likeable ones get development in some way. For example, there is even a character that shows up for only one episode, only a little bit, and shortly after meeting him you learn several things about his personality, and how he plays the game. If not for Sai's abilty to be completely serious and a serious loony at a moments notice, I would give the characters a 9.
All in all this show is definitely worth recommending, as the only show I have completed in sub, I must highly recommend the sub over the dub. It may take a few episodes to get into, but once you do and once you finish the show, you will not regret it. It is a ride worth taking. I hope you all enjoy it.
