That was... what a letdown. Let's just squash everything into the last episode. Let's introduce Kallen for like ten seconds to let the audience know she's still alive. (But let's just replace her with a new Kallen off Wish and call her Haruka and tell her to "get in the robot.") Ffs she wasn't even good at fighting and got her ass handed to her every time) Even though we don't even know whom she's fighting for in the first place. This goes for Suzaku as well; next to no screen time and no real reason to be there apart from babysitting Nunnally, donning the
...
mysterious Zero persona. The Akito crew got a brief cameo... okay? (I still rate that show over this.) I get it; the show's not about these recurring characters, but come on, don't show them to us and then say that's all you're getting. The villains, also known as the Einbergs, were so damn dry one being Catherine who was irritating af, Arnold felt too much like Mao crazy and sadistic, but of course, he was only there for the whole pure evil persona. Christoph was crazy too, but at least he played his role well. (his death actually satisfied me) The other boring villains aren't even worth mentioning. Stanley, Gran, Divork, Heath, and Greede were lackluster compared to the original villains of 2006, who all played their part perfectly. Narah and Walther were useless as they only joined to save their own skins and weren't really on their side to begin with. Then there's the wish version of Shinichirō, aka Tomo-omi Oda (comic relief character), who I forget was even there half the time. Then we have our main villain, who's possibly the biggest letdown of all: Norland, who was none other than a clone of Charles.... *sigh* Is that the best they could come up with? He was so inconspicuous most of the time until he unveiled himself and just went solo on his mission of bloodshed. His finale made me the least hyped as it was simply one episode to defeat this guy, unlike his original predecessor, Charles, who, even though he sadly didn't have much screen time, still managed to foil Lelouch's plans. I simply can't talk much more about these "waste of space" characters, so I'll finish it off with the main duo. Rosé (raspberry, Saku, Sakuya), whose backstory you had to Google as her past isn't fleshed out, is apparently Lelouch's niece (because her mother is Charles's daughter), making Lelouch her uncle. It was announced earlier on that Lelouch gave her his power. Since when can Lelouch copy C.C.? I don't remember that ever being a thing. She also doesn't even know who Lelouch is! She's nowhere near as skilled as Lelouch, and her looks are the only thing going for her (sorry, not sorry). She also had a body double, who happens to be her best friend named Sakura (how original), Who played the damsel in distress and is apparently not blood-related? What the heck? They're almost identical apart from their eyes. Overall, I would talk more about her, but this rant would go on forever. Ash is an acquaintance of her father, Jugo, whom she believes he killed (you guessed it, HE ACTUALLY DIDN’T. Oh no, what have I done? How could I? Lelouch wouldn't have used his Geass without thoroughly investigating first). Ash was a cool character who's fueled by the rage of his brother's murder, which sparked Sakuya's inspiration for the whole Rozé getup in the first place. He was under the influence of Sakuya's Geass from the beginning, but it was eventually canceled out by Arnold, who has the same canceling power as Jeremiah (whom I don't even remember returning in this). He still follows her like a lost puppy as he vows his allegiance to her father, even though she used his brother's death as a means to her own plan. I was almost able to even shed a tear when he died, but alas, I was unable to. Together, they recruit the seven stars—some of whom I've already mentioned—that were ultimately pointless and didn't have much time to develop. There were some other brief cameos too kaguya being most preverlant (Let me just say, I hate this new her. I miss the old "Zero, marry me and bear my child" persona. This Kaguya was so poorly written, it was depressing.) There are other cameos of side characters, more like flashbacks, including Schneizel, which I can't be bothered to say. You see how depressing this review has turned out to be. And for the most anticipated character, Lelouch, oh mighty ruler, may he rest in peace... or does he? Yeah, don't get your hopes up. This guy hasn't even been acknowledged hardly at all, probably for the best. They should have ended his masterpiece character back in R2's conclusion. But money talks I guess? C.C. is practically just there too, I guess, Simply asking if it was wise to hand Sakuya her power. Probably not, lol. And that is the end of my rant. Is this show worth your time? Unfortunately, not.
