Guilty Crown is one of those shows you either love or you hate, sure it's story is poorly developed and follows so many clichés you can't even count however it excels in many other places.
Story(5): The story is poorly told for this show, every single plot twist you predict may happen will almost definitely happen. There's not much at all in the way of suspense as the outcome of every situation is pretty obvious before it even begins. It is already pretty cliché that your average teenage schoolboy attains a power and joins a rebel force where his favourite singer is coincidentally already a member
...
however yet another large cliché is used later on in the series.
Art(10): I have to admit that even though the story lacks quite a bit the art style in Guilty Crown is unparalleled, every scene looks like a HD cinematic and both characters and scenery are drawn very well. It's almost a shame to see such great art wasted on such a mediocre story however it does make it easier to accept the storyline with the great art style.
Sound(10): Once again, the OST in Guilty Crown was one of its redeeming features. All three of the openings were great as well as the battle OST. Every time I heard the battle OST it honestly gave me the chills even though the outcome was predictable! Personally my favourite opening was the second "My Dearest" and I think Euterpe is a great song to use as Inori's soundtrack rather than an actual opening so kudos to them on that.
Character Development(7): The character development was also quite poor at times however at other points they really picked up the slack. I think that some characters were definitely developed more than others but not necessarily the right ones. The problem here is that too many new characters were introduced too fast so we didn't get the time to start liking one before a new one popped up. However they do pick up the slack in the second half of this show with development of main characters.
Enjoyment(8): The enjoyment of Guilty Crown will really depend on what kind of person you are. If you're the kind of person who knows what they're looking for and wants to see a work of art Guilty Crown isn't really the thing for you at some points due to character development and story telling. However, if you just want to watch your shows and enjoy them you may be able to see past the mistakes and the failures and see the good in Guilty Crown.
Overall(8): Overall, Guilty Crown does have a few bad points that may outweigh the good points it has however the hate and the bad reputation that the show has gotten is not at all deserved as even if the show does suck in some places it shines in others. Personally, I think that if you can see through all its faults then you can really enjoy it.
