Gantz at first sounds amazing by some of the other reviews I had read. The idea of people dieing and then being transported to a place where they basically have to kill to earn points and win their life back sounds interesting enough, plus after hearing that is loaded with violence, sex, and profanity... nuff said had to give it a shot...
But of course this anime went the way of Elfin Lied, alot of hyped up talk, but nothing to back it up. There is no sex in the first 13 episode season.. ill tell you that now, just a lot of fanservice shots,

If you were a fan of the original Ryo-ohki ova's but were let down by the dramatic differences in the Tenchi Universe series... then stay the heck away from this. the amount of sillyness from the universe series has been amplified and the story pales in comparison. As a fan of the original ova's, Tenchi in Tokyo has made me wish i had never even watched them and gotten hooked on the tenchi series' to begin with.
However, if you enjoy the Tenchi-Muyo series simplyfor its pure silliness then you will definitely like this anime. I would say it's only slightly more intelligent than 'Ninja Nonsense'. ... Jan 21, 2010

Quite a dramatic difference from the Ryo-ohki ova's. they seem to have added more silliness to the story and changed the characters backgrounds completely, and did a total overhaul on washu's personality. She is no longer the deep, calm, and collected person she was in the originals. instead she has become more of a mad scientist with a rediculous ego. though the new storyline is still quite good, the added sillyness and lack of character depth definitly let me down a little bit. but still a good watch.
