Both have a main character that gets stronger and stronger as the show moves on. Both have an outstanding cast of support characters. Both are filled with action and all sorts of powers and blend in comedy at the right moments.

Ikkitousen
|
Both are filled with tons of ecchi, "high school" kids fighting each other over respect and territory, and tons of girls with over the top... well you know. In the end, while Ikkitousen seems to focus on fan service and nothing else, Tenjou Tenge actually has a story worth paying attention to, as well as characters that don't have stereotypical personalities.

Claymore

Both shows involve a powerful main character cutting down every demon in their path. Both shows have a very depressing atmosphere and are very dark in terms of the story. I enjoyed Claymore more, but Berserk is definitely the darker and more violent of the two.

Gungrave

While Trigun is filled with comedy and action, anyone with a brain can see the serious undertone of the series, especially in the second half. Gungrave lacks the comedy that was found in Trigun, but the emotional ride is just as good, if not better. Not to mention, the final episode of Gungrave is quite possibly one of the best endings of an anime I have ever seen.

RahXephon
|
Neon Genesis has a very complicated and detailed plot, and many consider RahXephon to be a rip-off of it. However, I found that I enjoyed RahXephon much more than Evangelion. Both deal with Mechas, politics, religion, a boy struggling to come to terms with his life and what everyone expects of him. I just felt RahXephon was executed better.

Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch R2
|
Just like the second half of Death Note, season 2 of Code Geass has everything finally come together. Lelouch and Kira have been using their power for their ultimate goals, and it all comes together in the end. The finale of Code Geass is mind blowing and you will be left in awe similar to the finale of Death Note.

If you liked Death Note, you will love Code Geass. I really enjoyed Death Note, but was completely blown away by Code Geass. Both main characters gain the power to change the world, both are driven by their own goals and ideals, and both start a journey filled with twists and turns and the characters' own views of what justice truly is.
