It's a typical ero isekai with a fairly flushed out world. Each demi-human tribe is given a few chapters to flush out their lore, biology and also have the main character help them with a new technology (which is given very informed detail about it's design and purpose). Art is fairly good for monsters, environments and armor/weapons, but character designs feel somewhat generic and same-y. As of writing I managed to get 43 chapters in, but the general formula is pretty predictable, with the primary protagonist discovering a new group and mating with one of the characters after saving the tribe from some impending doom. ...

Unfortunately the manga is undermined by the author being a lolicon and also shoehorning some of his unhinged opinions into the story (like justifying rape & cheating). Pretty disappointing.

Well, I'm about 7 episodes in and I've finally decided to weigh in.

Pop Team Epic is a nonsensical comedy anime. It is what could be described as either and adaption or a tribute to the long running webcomic of the same name. It has no coherent narrative and the main consistancy is the two main charactors and a handful of sketches. Just as the webcomic, it makes parodies and refereces to real world events, popular culture and as well creates its own brand of humor. Althought it might sound pretentious, it's self aware and in some instances could be described as being meta ironic, ... parodying itself.

Pop Team Epic is highly creative and makes use of many varied styles as well as mediums. I will go over a few examples. "Bob Team Epic" is a mini show within it which is intentionally poorly draw while also going toward a creepy almost surreal atmosphere and style. There is a 3D CG animation done entirely in french by a French animator, who does his own interpretation of the style of the webcomic and has free reign on how he depicts it. There are also miscellaneous skits, such as a almost flipbook live action sequence and a puppet sequence.

I agree that the humor isn't for everyone, and I can see how it could be seen as a lowbrow "lolrandomXD" show- much like Bobobo (just reading reviews emphasizes that). That being said, I very much disagree with those sentimates/opinions. If you go into this show bitter, looking for a story or consistant plot, you will be dissapointed. If you go in with an open mind looking for a creatively done show which makes heavy references to just about everything while not taking itself seriously, I'm sure you will like it.
