Right.. where do I start? Firstly, I am not used to Chinese anime, they lack some depth to some of their plots, at times too over dramatic and not giving a strong backbone for their story. But that aside, let's talk about this.. anime.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
I am not too pleased with 11 minutes per episode for an anime which honestly had a lot of potential instead of rushing through the series. Is this a series..? I don't even know because the ending left me with an uncomfortable, dissatisfied and distasteful cliff hanger which felt more of a discontinuation rather than ending it with either a happy
...
ending or an o-k closure with Jinnian and An Hao.
If you're into telenovela's or soap opera's with ridiculous endings.. then this is the anime for you, if not.. I'd advice not to watch it as it felt incomplete.
Firstly, there has been DOZENS of times in which An Hao could have confessed her feelings Jinnian but she just doesn't! She just changes the subject and waits over 5 years to confess. She's a really sweet character with no backbone.
Jinnian plays the lead male who seems to be a little "tsundere" with a less aggressive personality. There was no explanation on who he really was until the ending which he worked his way up to become someone famous and worthy of An Hao, comes up with tons of reasons why he isn't able to stay in touch and leaves the poor girl hanging.
Yup.. they're a matchmake from heaven.
Lastly, why would her own sister set her up that way? There was NO explanation on if her older sister was the one meant to be married to Jinnian's older "half brother?". She just holds her cellphone and lets her aunt listen to An Hao's love letter.
I do however hope there will be a 2nd season as I'd want to see more effort on both the characters and their family backgrounds rather than leaving the viewers guessing without any hints or facts.
Overall though, this series was more of a past-timer than something you'd wait a week for to watch. Art and music is decent, dubbing could've been better.
I do hope there will be a season 2 as the manga/comic actually has more story to this than what we've watched on this anime. Fingers crossed maybe?
I'd hate to not see a proper continuation to this depressing cliff hanger..

If you feel like watching something short with lots of handsome guys playing music and losing their tops, this is your anime. Fairly enjoyable overall though I wished they added more songs and character movements during their performances, it tends to get extremely boring when each episode shows them moving and singing to the same thing over and over.
Characters are hands down original and amazing. Ryoma is just.. so lovable and silly. Each character had their styles which made this series worth watching.
The ending however got me a little confused, the American dude appearing? Was there going to be a Season 2? Or was
...
it a hint for the OVA? (which I haven't watched yet)
I would've love to see some fan server with Ultra Soul and Dark Cherries but oh well.
Enjoy your bishie guys in this 12 episode musical anime during the Shogun era which.. doesn't make any sense haha!

This was a masterpiece, simply put.. lol
The first episode left me gleefully giggling from one end to the other; the moment you see pretty boys transforming in fluffy frilly costumes with magical powers, sparkles and hearts, yes.. I just couldn't stop laughing.
12 Episodes was just perfect. A second season wouldn't be needed, each episode was put in flawlessly. This is not your typical mahou shoujo anime. Mahou shounen? It has a few cute fluffy moments with very minor shounen ai, but nothing intimate. Simply enjoyable.
It teaches quite a lot of morale values. Friendship, forgiveness etc, the whole package. So this is definitely something you
...
could show your children. It teaches you not to hate others and be content with what you have and be confident in who you are.
The characters were amazing. Simple but very likeable. I couldn't decide on who I loved, each character had their special episode which talks about their past and history.
Music was repetitive but well put into place in each episode, sound was good.
I enjoyed each episode. If you want something different with comedy, this is the series you'd watch, that is if you can swallow the sparkles and fluff.
" More Better Love Making " .. was the best thing that ever happened throughout the series. And their " Nandatte!? "
Lastly, who could hate a pink wombat? A terminator voiced hedgehog and a greedy fat goldfish?
I can't write much, but watch it. It will tickle you. Simply enjoyable, especially watching it with your children.

Before I start, I am reviewing this personally as the anime itself, with no comparison to it's former adaption whatsoever; Light Novel etc
I actually had this on hold for a short moment before freeing up some time to watch it, not a fan of extreme fan service or ecchi in every episode, assuming it had a lot of unneeded content.
The beginning started off simple with Vorn appearing immediately then seemingly looking like the typical useless Hero playing cool and trying to aim an arrow at a War Maiden, who obviously destroys the arrow. That's how they met, she wanted him as her "slave/prisoner".
Skip the boring
...
parts, I actually enjoyed each episode. If you're a fan of strategy and medieval wars mixed with a little (very little) bit of fantasy with dragons, you probably may like this as it's a short and simple series.
It wasn't filled with a load of boring talk but a lot of action, with some ice breakers. The battles were crystal but somehow cut short. A 14 year old boy who is a mastermind in war strategies with special hidden powers after inheriting and picking up his family bow, accompanied by a Wind War Maiden. Easy win.
Only thing I disliked about the series is that she barely explained the history of the War Maidens and paid NO attention to having them appear in several openings throughout all the 13 episodes.
Two maidens were given the spotlight, one episodes showed a weak and sickly maiden, three episodes showed a maiden used as a messenger, two episodes with barely 1 minute appearance of a maiden with a scythe and one episode with a bi-coloured eyed maiden fighting the wind maiden (Heroine)
... Needless to say, just watch it as it is.
I wonder if they will come up with a second season for this though very unlikely since the ending seemed like the Hero, Vorn would someday become King, and obviously would gain the favour of the people, his knights and the maidens.
Whatever happened to the Duke who left on a ship and was familiar with the maiden Valentina?
What about the Prime Minister who seemed uncomfortable with Vorn being given the title Knight of the Moonlight to which anyone given the title has the authority to become the next Ruler of the country.
It seemed like a fair enough closure, leaving viewers assuming that he will be the next King, maybe marrying the Princess with the War Maidens by his side.

Personally, I was a bit on the edge when watching the trailers. The first couple of episodes really put me off as I am a big fan of the older series and manga, a remake was music to my ears.
The artwork takes a load of time getting used to. Not to mention the 100% CG transformations making the characters look like rubber dolls being stretched to fit their costumes properly.
There was really little effort put into every frame in terms of animation that I felt sick to my stomach just watching it, but... as a loyal fan, I swallowed that and continued anyway.
As it progresses,
...
they improved on the artwork which was a huge relief for me, after all, this IS a remake no? And then here comes the big punch.
Yes, they are trying to do justice and provide as much fan service possible for the blockbuster series but I feel that it's rushed and they focused more on Usagi and Mamoru compared to the rest. Every other character deemed pretty much useless. It's all 80% UsaMamo 15% Random story 5% on the other sailor scouts.
Overall, it's quite enjoyable. You get to see many scenes and fan service from the manga and the music is amazing, hands down on that.
If you are going to compare this to the older series AND manga, please do yourself the favour and do NOT watch it. But if you would love to relive your childhood, please do!
Plus, this is only the first season. I am DEFINITELY looking forward to the following seasons, especially the final Sailor Stars season; that's IF it reaches that.
