For those who are unfamiliar with the manga, this movie suffers from the same issues present in the anime, although to a lesser extent.
The film essentially serves as a long advertisement for you to go out and buy the manga. It was like going to watch a movie, then being told to go buy the book to find out what happens in the end.
One thing this film does better than the anime was the whole demon stuff. In the anime, it comes out of nowhere, and is just like "wtf?". In the movie, it flows more nicely

I had to stop watching about 5 minutes into the movie due to the terrible english voice actors. There is no japanese dub of this movie also, so I had to drop it altogether.

Perhaps one of the most over-rated anime's I have seen.
It seems the creators of the anime created it based upon the idea that you would read the manga afterwards. This is a poor idea. It makes as much sense as going to watch a movie, then at the end of the movie, it doesn't actually end, but tells you to go read the books to find out what happens. The creators also seemed to not be able to decide whether they want this anime to be fantasy-like with demons and such, or more realistic. Most of the anime is realistic, but demons are thrown in randomly, ... |
