After reviewing the Fairy Tail anime, I realized how bad my review sounded. So here I am on the manga page to fix that.
STORY- 6/10
So the story overall is repetitive and kinda bad. Guild finds enemies, enemies wipe the floor with guild, guild gives motivational speech about their trust and friends and stuff, guild goes in more powerful and wipe the floor with enemies (given time). That's the modern pattern of this series, after the Laxus Arc. Before it, we did have some variety and some interesting plot, which made me love the series and keep enduring the BS until the current chapter. That
...
and the Tartarus Arc did have some interesting enough stuff, but everything else is kinda letdown. Asspulls and plot armor were also a key thing to note, and the huge stress on good vs. evil was kind of annoying, which was made worse when some villains returned to the series as supporting characters that assisted the protagonists.
ART- 8/10
Mashima is a great artist, and I had no real problems with it except the fan service, but I can overlook that.
CHARACTER- 5/10
So the characters get BS power-ups and have no development or real interesting traits that contribute to the plot, apart from the villains and some of the side characters. Loke and Jellal are two of my favorites from the series, both because they are mysterious and badass, and a few twists that really add depth to their respective arcs. But some of the other characters are just really annoying, with villains evil for the sake of being evil, and others that are there just for laughs.
ENJOYMENT- 7/10
Like I said, the first few arcs were really interesting for me to read, and captivated me for the rest of the series. Note that this was the first manga series that I read and at the time I thought this was amazing writing. So it was decent I guess.
OVERALL- 7/10
So Fairy Tail is your typical shounen manga, with quite a bit of repetition. Recommended for casual readers.

Loved the ending, just beautiful. Doesn't reflect the entire show though.
STORY- 7/10
You know that amazing strategic analysis that Lelouch used in Season 1? How he positioned his units in the best place to effectively neutralize his opponents? Well, after Episode 8-10ish, his use of "strategy" is taking one of his many invincible robots and unloading his battery into the enemy troops. Of course, Lelouch is still a brilliant genius, but the use of strategy is no longer as prominent or executed as well. On the other hand, the powerful final episodes were better than anything in the rest of the series for me, with
...
some of the biggest "Feels" moments in anime history.
ART- 8/10
Animation was good and all except for one thing- the Fanservice. Glorious shots of CC's and Kallen's...everything. The most awkward angles while piloting the mechas. The art styles were very good, keeping up the style set by the first season, so not much to complain about besides the ass shots.
SOUND- 9/10
Music and voice-acting in R2 is superb, and decent openings and endings. The soft songs that play during important character moments and the bombastic orchestral and brass music in the more epic parts of the show go beautifully, no real complaints here.
CHARACTER- 8/10
All the characters are interesting enough, with their own motives and morals, although from time to time they act rather bipolar with loose characterization and you don't really know exactly what happened to them at times, although that might just be some intense character development occurring. My other main issue with the characters is that the vast majority of the Black Knights are extremely gullible to anything anyone says. But at the end of the day, all these characters create some sort of emotional feelings inside you and in many cases make you want to sympathize with them.
ENJOYMENT- 10/10
Loved this show, one of the best I've ever seen. My few problems with the characters and plot were easily solved by the ending, with many characters earning their redemption in some way or another. The last 5 minutes of Episode 20 was legendary by the way, best moment in the series IMO.
OVERALL- 9/10
Code Geass Season 2 wasn't as great as the first season in terms of actual storyline or characters, but makes up for it with its upgraded soundtrack, animation, and great ending. Obviously one of the best anime of the last decade and worthy of watching from all anime fans.

The ending pissed me off so much (no spoilers)-
STORY- 7/10
Mostly good until the ending. where everything went to hell because of empty pockets and Shinji started talking to himself. But there's also the End of Evangelion Movie, so looking forward to watch that. The concept of the Angels and their mysteriousness was interesting, the whole mystery aspect behind why they're attacking and all, but a lot of questions are unanswered.
ART- 8/10
For the low budget and 90's animation, Evangelion did a good job with its animation. Nice bright scenery to contrast to the themes of the show, and the animation for the show was good
...
when it tried. Unfortunately, the budget cuts really vamped the quality down. Episode 24 featured Shinji inside his robot staring for half a minute, so points off there.
SOUND- 7/10
The soundtrack wasn't that noteworthy for the most part, with some exceptions. The opening, A Cruel Angel's Thesis, is currently my favorite opening of all time (and yes, I've watched AoT, TG, F/Z, SAO), with the catchy tune and inspiring lyrics really fitting for the show. But the last few episodes, LOL HAHAHA. When one of the Angels attack and destroying stuff, they legitimately start playing Ode to Joy while NERV and its pilots are having their necks hung dry, and then later on towards Episode 24 when Shinji's having a bit of a breakdown and staring for half a minute. So great job Gainax for trying your best, but that just didn't work well.
CHARACTER- 9/10
So nowadays, people bash on mainstream anime mostly because lack of character development. Evangelion is probably the exact opposite. It's a character study over the Evangelion pilots and the other cast. People have mixed reviews over Shinji's personality, mostly because they hate him. I don't hate Shinji that much, and he definitely displays some personality traits that make him a better character than maybe Natsu from Fairy Tail, but it doesn't stop the fact that he's a really annoying character at times. Rei's pretty mysterious and her character has been copied and pasted into other anime, and Asuka is alright too, with a sort of messed up childhood. So Evangelion did well in this department.
ENJOYMENT- 7/10
So I'm not a real fan of mecha anime, or the 90's animation, so this score isn't going to be fantastic. The fights against the Angels and how they affect the characters are really interesting to see, but I don't like to interpret anime too much (since it's a bunch of silly Japanese cartoons, right?), and Evangelion really made me think. The ending was also a point of annoyance for me, and that's why I'm watching End of Evangelion right after this review.
OVERALL- 8/10
I'd say Evangelion is the classic that people say it to be, with decent plot, characters, animation (for the most part), opening and ending, and soundtrack. The mystery element is one of the biggest things that kept me coming back to watch another episode but the ending was a huge letdown due to the horrible budget. Recommendation is for more mature audiences who think when they watch anime (not me) and understand symbolism in the show.
CONGRATULATIONS *clap clap*

This show was so weird for me lol.
STORY- 7/10
Fairly interesting premise, we have some WTF moments here and there, but it was fine I guess. Fan service was really annoying but the strategies of the main characters and how they beat their opponents are really interesting to watch.
ART- 8/10
This is probably the weirdest part of the show for me. I swear, almost every single panel of this anime had either pink or purple in it. The colors were really nice and bright, perfect for the mood of the show.
SOUND- 7/10
Good opening song and a decent soundtrack, but doesn't stand out too much.
...
Voice acting was good, ending less noticeable but still sounds nice.
CHARACTER- 7/10
Characters from shows that have the tag comedy are kind of difficult for me to really examine. The main characters are really smart and capable of outwitting their opponents at every single turn half the time, but then go into some weird shounen tropes and stereotypes that almost contradict their earlier behavior, but we do get some backstory and want these characters to win their battles, so I guess they're alright.
ENJOYMENT- 6/10
I don't consider myself to be part of the target audience, since I like dark, serious animes with little to no fanservice, but this was an enjoyable change from my normal program. The ecchi aspect of this anime really pissed me off, but was actually sort of important to the plot so okay then.
OVERALL- 7/10
This show ends in media res, so people all over the internet are rioting outside of Madhouse's studio building shouting, "No Season 2, No Life (for Madhouse >:D)!!!" The real reasons why this anime scored lower than others may have scored it is the lack of an ending and my personal preferences not correlating with this show. So if you like fun, ecchi comedy, this is the exact show for you. If not, still worth a watch, but turn your brain off first.

So Root A wasn't the best thing that ever came out of anime studios. For one of the most hyped anime of early 2015, a lot of anime viewers were sorely disappointed by the second season of Tokyo Ghoul.
STORY- 5/10
So the overall storyline is fairly interesting with some problems here and there (mainly why Kaneki would join the organization that kidnapped him a week ago), but looks decent if you read about it. But the execution of the plot was terrible, and in the first half (the original part), I was clueless to half the stuff going on. The ending was also a point of
...
complaint among many viewers, which is part of the reason why Tokyo Ghoul :re has a lot of readers now.
ART- 8/10
Well Tokyo Ghoul had good fights but Root A lowered the quality a bit in some areas (since Kishou Arima clearly has a pointed chin). Kaneki looks freaking amazing, better than in the manga IMO, some of the fights were kinda crappy (like Kaneki vs Shachi) while others were fairly good (although one in particular was obscured with fog, which was kinda a bad thing). Not a huge point to complain here.
SOUND- 8/10
I really do believe Tokyo Ghoul's soundtrack, both seasons, are underrated. While Tokyo Ghoul's OST can't compare to Hiroyuki Sawano or Yuki Kajiura, it still has some outstanding tracks, and they really make you see the desperation of the ghouls as they are forced to fight for their survival.
CHARACTER- 7/10
Kaneki is a rather mixed character for me. On one hand, his development at the end of the first season was the biggest for a single episode of anime I've ever seen, but such a quick and dramatic change is met with some of his old behavior and we see why he joins Aogiri, but I still fail to understand why he just doesn't form a task force to shake Tokyo up (like he did in the manga). Other characters were decent, but Shachi from the first half really confused me as to why he acts like he does (I mean come on, why would you do what he did to a random guy?).
ENJOYMENT- 9/10
I love this part of the review since I can say whatever I want to say about the anime and no one can say a thing about it. Okay, I freaking loved watching this anime, even knowing its flaws. The beautiful soundtrack, the (semi) great animation, the intriguing premise of ghoul society and how they attempt to survive is really something worthy of praise. Sure there are plot gaps, but I liked this show so hahaha haters.
OVERALL- 6/10
Contradicting everything I just said in the Enjoyment category, Root A was not a good anime due to all of its plot holes and dip in animation and confusing characters. I would recommend watching it but take caution (and for f***s sake, stop hating on this show so much, if you want a bad show, watch Gundoh Musashi or Pupa).

Some people claim that Angel Beats was perfection. Those people are completely wrong. THIS is perfection.
STORY- 10/10
Okay first of all, it's an OVA, so it won't have any real story. So the main question is, Did it follow the rules of the universe. Answer- yes. Yurippe would go to the ends of the earth to try to unbalance the Afterlife, and these plans are no less extravagant than the ones seen in the original series. OVA 2 did have a twist that surprised me immensely though, will say that.
ART- 9/10
So it's Angel Beats. It's got good animation, with great character models, great scenery, great
...
action sequences (for the ones with them), great everything.
SOUND- 9/10
Once again, it's Angel Beats. Let's move on.
CHARACTER- 10/10
If this were the original series, I definitely wouldn't have given this a perfect score. But this is an OVA, so the question is, Did anyone go OOC. And the answer is no, everyone remained within perfectly believable behavior. So that's a 10/10 too.
ENJOYMENT- 10/10
The real decider- did I enjoy this masterpiece. Yes. So, for OVA's, my general policy is to turn of my brain, especially if it's from a funny show like Angel Beats. So did it make me laugh, did I want to see more, did I feel nostalgic about the ending. YES. So 10/10 as well.
OVERALL- 10/10
If you're looking for character development and deep, intriguing plot, you won't find it here. It's an OVA, so the real matter is whether it served its job, and it did. Perfect score (probably the only one I will ever give).

Oh dear, Fairy Tail, considered the worst popular shonen until SAO came about, and even then...and then Season 2 came out lol.
STORY-5/10
So its a bunch of wizards fighting for their friends to the death where no one actually dies except when third parties are involved. Or flashbacks. My main problem is that each villain progressively gets more and more difficult to fight throughout each arc, to the point where villains in Season 1 seem like complete pushovers compared to the current villains. With a few exceptions here and there, mainly in Jellal and Laxus.
ART-8/10
Whoever did the art did a decent job, nice animation,
...
good character models (even if Natsu looks like a dork), nice job whoever did this.
SOUND-9/10
Great OST, considered some of the best in anime (at least until 2012-ish). Nice rock and catchy tune, with beautiful emotional OST's. My only complaint is that the composer decided to stay with electric guitar and never expand much further than that, but hey it worked.
CHARACTER-4/10
I don't like to rant that much in reviews, but the characters were...kinda bad. So Natsu never changes at all, Lucy's annoying sometimes, Erza is so over/underpowered in everything, and Gray's stripping habit got annoying after a while too. Decent enough personality quirks, but being a long anime, they do get boring and the lack of any real character growth bothers me.
ENJOYMENT-6/10
So I have a bit of a confession. When I first watched this show, I absolutely loved it. Great music, animation, funny (enough) characters, I could see even now how this show could've gotten its popularity. But now, I see tons of flaws everywhere and I kinda don't like it as much anymore. That and the F***ING FANSERVICE. But dem fights are on point and music be good, so 6/10 for me.
OVERALL-7/10
So Fairy Tail isn't that bad if you're a casual viewer like me, but there are some really annoying moments in the show that make you want to shoot some of the characters in the head. But if you are a shonen fan and you kinda liked One Piece and Naruto, then you would probably like this, considering how this is pretty much a carbon copy of all the major shonen tropes smashed into one show.

gg ufotable, you blew us away with Season 2 (sort of)
STORY- 7/10
Story-wise it got better, with the twists at the beginning of the season being vital to the rest of the plot. Gilgamesh looks even cooler in UBW than he did in Fate/Zero, we get some interesting backstories and more character development, nice job UBW. Shirou still says weird stuff ("Just because you're correct doesn't mean you're right!"), but he's better than last season LOL.
ART- 10/10
Well yes, the art does go down a bit in quality later on in the season, but then you should look at DEEN's movie adaption of UBW and you'd see
...
why this still deserves a 10. The Archer vs Lancer rematch was godly though, won't deny that.
SOUND- 9/10
Well, turns out that Yuki Kajiura helped out with the music (something I missed last season), and after watching DEEN's adaption, I must say that the music is pretty good. And of course, the Fate veterans have been voice-acting this one for a while now, so their voices are on point. Once again, this score was influenced by the godly Archer vs Lancer rematch.
CHARACTER- 7/10
HOORAY SHIROU ISN'T A COMPLETE IDIOT ANYMORE WOOHOO CELEBRATE. Yeah, Shirou gets some development, Rin kinda goes Tsundere but it doesn't affect the general plot too much. Saber is less of a mindless fighter and Archer is as badass as ever. Lancer turns out to be a cool guy too. Shinji is kinda stupid though, but he was always stupid.
ENJOYMENT- 8/10
Unlimited Budget Works still failed to disappoint me while watching it. I was thoroughly entertained throughout the entire show, even if the story and character departments were still kinda weak.
OVERALL- 8/10
Nice follow-up to the first season, definitely recommend to all anime viewers to at least watch the fight scenes if nothing else.

NOTE- this is a review of both seasons. And I am assuming that you've already watched/played Fate Stay/Night or at least heard of it.
STORY- 8/10
The setting of the story is Fuyuki City, Japan, where seven Masters summon seven Servants of various class to fight against one another for the Holy Grail, which many of us would know from watching Fate/Stay Night, be it the original 2006 adaption, the Unlimited Blade Works movie, or the new 2014 adaption. Fate Zero follows the events of the 4th Holy Grail War. Fast-paced, engaging, and full of twists and turns, the story is definitely above average from your average
...
anime and the nonexistence of fan service makes it a rather mature anime, since a lot of concepts on heroism and whether the ends justify the means is thrown in the viewer's face. My only issue is probably the double length episode that ufotable likes to throw at its viewers that discusses the rules and mechanics of the Holy Grail War, but is necessary to the plot. And at one point the three most dangerous people in the series were all sitting together drinking, so that was kind of weird (though they did it for understandable reasons).
ART- 9/10
Well, it's ufotable, so it's going to be good. The art is beautiful, with great action scenes (although not as good as Fate Stay/Night's 2014 adaption). Static scenes are also excellent, making Fate/Zero one of the most visually amazing anime I've ever seen.
SOUND- 9/10
The voices for each character fits them very well, ranging from the calm, deep voice of Emiya Kiritsugu to the light, almost joyful tone of his wife Irisviel. Yuki Kajiura's music is as good as ever, with tracks that are easily identifiable as the predecessors to SAO's great OST's grand choirs and orchestras. The openings are also great, foreshadowing the tragedies that would occur (and that you should probably know if you've watched Fate Stay/Night).
CHARACTER- 9/10
Another strong area- Fate/Zero's characters are great. All the Master-Servant pairs are matches for one another, whether they be friends or loathe each other with conflicting ideals. The story also doesn't really have a main character, leaving the POV omnipresent, which allows the viewer to look at the personality and backstories of the various groups fighting for the Grail. The characters themselves range from Hassan from Assassin's Creed to a ninja priest to Alexander the Great. The show delves into each Master's motives for fighting in the war, as noble or tragic as they may be, and in many cases, tears them apart. A more in-depth character profile without major spoilers.
Kiritsugu Emiya- the closest thing to the main character that this show has. Foster father of Emiya Shirou (the biggest idiot in the franchise) and a secret agent who's primary hobby is shooting a hole in a mage's head. One of the most interesting characters in the series, reminding me of Archer from the original Fate Stay/Night (for good reason).
Tokiomi Tohsaka- father of Tohsaka Rin from Fate/Stay Night. Skilled mage who is the teacher of Kotomine Kirei and wishes for good futures for his family, even if others don't agree.
Kotomine Kirei- rival of Kiritsugu is unsure of why he was chosen to fight in the war and seeks for a source of enjoyment. Also a hacker when it comes to combat, he could probably take on some of the weaker Servants.
Kariya Matou- family friend of the Tohsakas whose love for them puts him on edge with Tokiomi. Decides to fight in the Grail Wars to protect Tokiomi's wife Aoi and her children. This guy is kinda depressing what he has to go through, one of my favorites from the series.
Ryuunosuke- a psycho young adult who decides to summon a demon and accidentally puts himself in the war without him even knowing it. Really creepy kind of guy.
Waver Velvet- college student who fights in the war mostly to gain recognition. A bit of a coward and almost useless in actual combat apart.
Lord Kayneth Archibald- (second) most annoying guy in the series for me, is kinda a jerk to everyone he fights against. Accomplished mage and is a teacher at the college Waver attends.
Saber- the same Saber from F/SN who serves under Shirou. Fights for the Grail for the good of her country; her ideals clash with that of other Servants.
Archer- the ancient king Gilgamesh, who is a hacker and narcissist. Believes that everything belongs to him and spends a lot of time drinking and making couches dirty with his clothes (but never gets drunk somehow). Has long conversations with Kirei about life and such. Arrogant snob knows honorable opponents and bravery when he sees it and isn't a total prick.
Rider- an extremely buff, muscular warrior who strives to take over the world and is pretty hax himself if needed. A really fun character and a fan favorite. Likes to spend all his Master's money on video games, TV shows, and food, but is willing to defend his Master with his life.
Lancer- another fan favorite who is a handsome spearman who puts chivalry above victory, and would rather die than betray a fellow knight. Also a badass for using two spears and is really good with them.
Caster- the most annoying character in the series for me. SPOILERS- Servant of Ryuunosuke and also likes to go around murdering kids, but has his motives for doing so and fights in the Grail Wars for an understandable reason (even if it's kinda stupid). He also is kinda weird since he's suppose to be a knight but he looks like a Satanist almost.
Berserker- a mysterious Servant who dons a suit of armor and has this cool black fog/smoke emitting from him. Has the ability to touch weapons and use them for himself.
Assassin- well, based on reading the review up to here, it's pretty obvious who he is. Skilled in maneuvering and stealth missions but not good for direct combat, unlike the Assassin from the F/SN series.
ENJOYMENT- 8/10
At times I felt rushed with the story (probably due to me being fairly new to the "good" anime like Code Geass, Fate series, etc.) and didn't have enough time to take everything in, but the moral struggles, the fights, and the conflicting characters easily makes up for that. Although I did watch this show in the middle of the night, so that might explain why I didn't enjoy this show as much as I enjoyed other shows similar to it.
OVERALL- 9/10
Fate/Zero is a good balanced anime that combines great animation and sound with interesting characters, a good plot and interesting premise, and discussions on morality and heroism. A must-watch for all anime viewers, be it elitists or casual viewers.

I love the pure amount of hate that this show gets, with the haters outnumbering the fans 2 to 1 on MAL.
STORY- 5/10
Of course, the first three episodes were everyone's favorite, character development, world introduction, formalities done. And then it feels kinda like filler for 2 episodes and then straight into the romance. People say this is the worst thing ever, but I think that what happened was that the creator tried to combine shounen action and slice-of-life romance and comedy into SAO, and ended up with a mess. Then the second half occurred. It's biggest problem was that it was too serious. In
...
Aincrad, people took it seriously because one could legitimately die. Here, Kirito just acts like an idiot and near-sacrifices himself multiple times to save his friends, when all he's really doing is saving their ability levels. That and Eugene's entire army betrayed him :P
ART- 8/10
Nice fight animations, good character designs (or at least they look cool), nice coloring, everything you expect out of decent animating.
SOUND- 9/10
I've heard a few anime veterans say that Yuki Kajiura kinda disappointed in this show's OST, but I think it's pretty good. Decent voice actors (and a half decent dub, as far as they go), great music, memorable opening songs, SAO did this part well.
CHARACTER- 5/10
Another point of hate among MAL viewers- Kirito is a generic overpowered badass and Asuna is a tsundere that's useless without her boyfriend (in the immortal words of Gigguk, long may he reign). Kirito does get a bit more character development than people say he does (like, a bit, not a ton), but this section was kinda disappointing.
ENJOYMENT- 7/10
I'm so glad comments aren't enabled for reviews, or people would butcher me so much for this. SAO wasn't a show you would enjoy if you thought too much, so you could kinda compare it to a Micheal Bay film- good music and effects but bad story and characters, except this maybe wasn't as bad.
OVERALL- 6/10
Like most anime reviewers you'll find on the internet, I would say that SAO wasn't as good as the fanboys say, but not as bad as the haters bash. It had its good and bad, and people just pay attention to the bad apparently. Worth a watch, but don't expect too much out of it.
