If you are looking for another ending than was in the anime, then no, it's similar. But the novel contain more content than anime, for example Ayase's ark is rather more detailed (Stalker incident is mentioned only there) and Sakurai ark is only in the novel. And a lot of little details, especially in the ending part of the series. 11th and 12th tomes picturized in just a short special of the second season, but it is at least 500 pages of text! I think that it is the reason why the anime ending is a little bit incomplete, because then reading detailed novel ending ... you don't have a feeling "Why did they do it?", although they are similar. On the other hand, another tomes filmed quite detailed. If you did not seen the anime yet, then do it, it is kinda more impressive. That book would be interesting as an addition, if you are Oreimo series fan, but not that necessery for plot to read 12 tomes.

As for the novel itself, by and large it is very good. A long time going slice of life with interesting, detailed characters, cool tsundere as the main heroine, lots of humour, ecchi moments, pleasant illustrations, light drama, simple and readable text. If you are looking for a siscon story, keep in mind that it is a slice of life and comedy title, with no serious drama.

P.S. For different endings read the PSP visual novel (You can start right from the second disk), there you can find good endings for Kirino, Kuroneko, Ayase, Manami, Saori and even Sena. They are quite better, but it's just an addition to the original series, that valuable only because of it's alternative endings and can't be compared to the anime/novel, in my point of view.

Animated cooking TV show.

No really, this title (And also the second season) consist almost of the process of cooking. Plot is quite simple, main character attending an elite cooking high school and take part in cooking contests and duels. And it's the main singularity of this anime. That battles are totally epic, sometimes you got a feeling that you are watching a fighting or even a racing title, but there is just a food. Contests are amazing, every dish that characters cook are complicated and make you want to repeat it yourself on your own kitchen. Also, there is a cool feature that taste of ... food portrayed by exciting scenes of pleasure in eaters minds, predominantly ecchi, frankly speaking almost of that scenes are featuring tentacles and school girls. Aside from the main character, there are lots of supporting characters, all female characters have a crush in the main, but I don't think that it's a harem because everything in this title is about cooking and the rest is fanservice. It is worth noting that tsundere girl is quite cute.
Graphics is pretty normal, not splendid, but not bad, just like in every every modern anime, voice acting is also casual. Soundtrack is good, background music is epic, ending song is masterpiece.
Undoubtedly this anime is worth it. It's totally enjoyable and kinda epic.

In the near future world was infected by a virus which transform humans into beasts that kill people. After the war, people are living in zones under the barriers, that's free of that virus. But people learned how to use virus to create little girls with super normal abilities. That lolis are using as weapons against beasts. Plot take place in the zone called Tokyo Area, main character is a young civil officer paired with one of that loli, fight against monsters that crashed one of the barriers. Title consist of lots of drama, fights and even tragedy. Sub characters are also good. Frankly speaking ... that anime is absolutely plain, it's hard to find something original here, but it doesn't mean that title is bad. It has everything to enjoy watching it, some moments are really dramatic, plot make you believe that they really have a reason to fight. Also ending song is nice, background music is suited, graphics is just like in almost every modern anime. That title has an open ending and after 3 years there is no sequel, maybe plot is finished in novel, I actually didn't read it. But despite of everything this anime is undoubtedly worth it.

Main character is kinda shy high school girl chosen to be one of the local idols, an artist promoting her home town among neighbours. Another characters are blonde ojou-sama, big breasted loli, ultra shy loli and lots of sub characters. During the series you can find tons of moe, kindness, friendship and everything that we like about slice of life anime. Plot is not so complicated, they just chatting and singind sometimes, that makes it a good way to relax for hours of watching. Graphics are not very detailed and expensive, but good enough to make a pleasant atmosphere. There are two songs that girls ... singing durind the title - the first is about their town and the another one is about their towns mascot. They are quite catchy actually. Backgrownd music is plain, but delightful. Comparing to another titles it's possible to say that it is one of an idol anime copycats, but frankly speaking that one is kind a charming and "localish" or something like that, characters are not plastic superstars performing among hundreds of otakus, but just plain girls singing for their little hometown citizens, that makes that title absolutelu original and plan to watch.

Short ecchi comedy.

Characters:
In fact, there is the only one character - cute, innocent high school girl. Most of the secondary characters appear only once.

Story:
Each episode is a one short comic story. Main character gets into an awkward situations, primarily with an erotic meaning. Lots of jokes are vulgar and about pantsu, but in spite of this, they are really funny.

Art and sound:
Art and sound are simple. There is nothing special here. It's worth mentioning that voice actress work here is perfect.

If you like fanservice and pervert jokes, this title is for you, but don't forget that each episode is only 3 minutes long.

Cute girls doing cute things.

Characters:
There are four main characters, middle school girls: first - genki, second - calm, even a little haughty and stubborn, third - expressive girl that wants to make an idol group, fourth - mysterious girl.

Story:
Girls are childhood friends and they are spending their last summer together because one of them is going to move to the other town. The main feature of this title is the miracle granting rock. Girls are making wishes and it leads to funny situations. All episodes are full of events.

Art and sound:
Art is perfect - detailed and bright, it gives an inexpressible ambience of precious ... summer youth days. Opening, ending, background music and voice actresses work are also good.

If you like that type of slice of life with cute girls, you'll certainly enjoy it. Probably, it's one of the best ones.

It is a sequel of Grisaia no Meikyuu and Grisaia no Kajitsu, so watch them before it to understand the storyline.

Characters:
There were added some new secondary characters, like Yuuji's military friends and a girl who raised him (although, the first time she appeared in special), however the main characters are still the same - professional hitman and his harem.

Story:
It starts with a story of main character's childhood and then he's fighting with bad guys. Unlike the first season, it had more action and less drama. Even sometimes it looks like a western action movie of the 90s.

Art and sound:
Art and background music style are still ... the same, but I would like to mention that all episodes are made in the cinema widescreen format (2.35:1), therefore these ten episodes look like a long movie.

Don't expect it to be a harem anime like the first season, it's rather an action with a little fanservice and drama.

In a nutshell, Nichijou is a set of short comic scenes, although related to each other.

Characters:
The main characters are school girls (First - emotionless girl, second - fujoshi mangaka, third - hyperactive genki) and loli-genius, that lives with speaking cat and a robot, that want to look like a normal girl. There are also a lot of interesting secondary characters, like shy moe teacher or wannabe aristocrat that rides his goat to school.

Story:
It has no beginning and ending, we can say that there is no plot. School girls just attend school. Absolute slice of life. The main merit of this title is its splendid humor ... and atmosphere of daily life. The only one thing that happened is that robot-girl started to attend school.

Art and sound:
Despite it was made by Kyoto Animation, there is no their typical art style. Drawing is simple, but pleasant. Opening and ending themes are fun and rhythmical, background music is also good.

If you expect light, a bit crazy slice of life comedy, you will probably enjoy it.
