I had this show sit at a 9 for about a day, then I thought more about it, and realized exactly how bad of a romance this is. Everything is lies. The show itself tells the biggest lie, by showing what appears to be a cute romance. It's very misleading.
Story: 5/10
At first glance, and while I was watching it, there weren't any problems. It's about someone reclaiming something they used to love after a traumatic experience. The problem is in how it's executed. The relationship was one sided and abusive, and glorified.
Characters: 1/10
Kaori: -1,000,000/10. If there's one word to describe her, its LIES. Ok,
...
the show is called "Your Lie in April", but I think the title should be plural. She lied to get into the friend group. She lied about liking the friend. She lied about being healthy. She lied about why she wanted to hang out with Kousei. Her entire upbeat, free spirited personality is a lie. She lied about why she wanted Kousei to play. The entire plot is her lying to Kousei and forcing him to relive his past trauma for her own selfish reasons. Along with that, she was also super physically abusive and emotionally manipulative, taking all the pages out of the Yandere's playbook. And it's passed off as ok. Also, she literally asked the main character if he wanted to kill himself because she was going to die. I'm glad she's dead.
The other characters are ok. I feel bad for Kousei.
Enjoyment: I really, really hate that I liked it at the time.
Overall: 4/10. Don't let the 8.8 lure you into this dumpster fire.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS
I thought Clannad was ok. Not amazing, not life changing, just ok. I appreciate it as a work of art, but I also think it's very much overrated and that there are many better romances.
Story: 6/10 dangos. The first 8 episodes (well, actually, the first 30), I was wondering when it was going to pick up, and getting bored and annoyed. Then it did, and episodes 9-21 were all great story wise. Then, it seems like Jun Maeda didn't want to commit to a sad ending, so, with the biggest deus ex machina in anime, we have a happy ending undoing
...
everything the previous 12 episodes did. The story would have been a lot better if the supernatural bits didn't exist.
Art: 10/10 dangos. There's nothing to say here that nobody else already said.
Sound: 9/10 dangos, Dango dango dango dango dango daikazoku. The score's this high just due to how often this gets stuck in my head.
Character: 5/10 dangos. I hated the two leads, and most characters were pretty one dimensional.
Tomoya: Anything negative happens in his life, and all development is out the window, and he's back to the same asshole delinquent he was at the start. He's very fragile and not likable. While he does show a lot of development especially in episodes 17-21, it is all completely undone in the end.
Nagisa: Total Mary Sue, and she's an idiot. You have this long debilitating illness that causes you to be bedridden for months at a time, and you decide to have a baby? Something that's known to be very risky. You could have adopted. Ok, that rants over. Her personality is to just be overly sweet and nice and have sad moe eyes. She has no development over the entire series because there is nowhere to develop, except for when the plot calls for it, have her disease progress.
The supporting characters are a bit better, but still not amazing.
Enjoyment: 7/10 dangos. I know I just roasted it a lot, but I didn't not like it. I just didn't think it was this life changing tale that everyone makes it out to be. Again, I thought it was just ok.
Overall: 8/10 dangos. I appreciate it as a work of art, but if you want an amazing, life changing, heart breaking romance, look somewhere else.

This is the first manga I've ever read, and I've got to say, I absolutely loved it. I watched the anime around a month ago and fell in love with the characters, and I saw that the anime only adapted the first half of the source material. I wanted to know the rest.
Story 9/10
There aren't really any complaints here. First half is nearly identical to the anime, which I would put as 7/10 for story. It's definitely cute and fun, but it really shines in the second half. Misaki and Usui's relationship becomes more serious, and we actually find out Usui's background.
Art 10/10
This
...
is pretty much based on the maid outfits and Aoi's dresses, both of these being beautiful and detailed.
Character 10/10
Misaki: Some of the best character development I've seen. She starts off as a cynical tsundere hiding behind her persona as the Student Council president, being very ashamed of her job and not wanting anyone to meet the real her. Over the course of the story, she slowly starts to warm up and open up. While in the beginning, she clung to the appearance of strength, while actually being quite weak, in the end, she was actually strong and didn't care about how other people would think.
Usui: I really liked the deep dive into his background. It made the "perverted outer space human" seem more human, and his feelings definitely changed over time as their relationship got more serious.
Enjoyment 10/10
Not much I need to say here, I love it, and after finishing each volume, I was left wondering what happens next.
Overall 10/10

I had really high hopes for this one for two reasons, 1. good ratings, and 2. most importantly, Gay. There is a shortage of good gay romances, and I wanted this to actually be one. Not only did it end up not, and not only was it bad, it was insulting.
Story:
2 girls start a relationship, despite the main character having doubts about it. The other one becomes really creepy and takes advantage of her. She pulls away, and starts to realize how unhealthy her relationship was, and tries to get the other one to change for the better while she'. Instead of
...
both of them working through their problems, she goes back and decides to love the other girl despite the fact that she's insanely creepy and manipulative and tried to rape her on occasions. The ending effectively undid the character development on both of their parts.
Characters
Yuu: I cannot get over her decision at the end to go back to Touko and embrace her wholeheartedly. She is unable to fall in love, something known as aromantic/asexual. That was the absolute most out of character thing she can do, considering the relationship never felt right to her and the fact that she was afraid of Touko right before that. In the end, she just enabled her abuser. She deserved better.
Touko: She's the most developed character, and one of the better written yanderes. The thing is, she is creepy and manipulative and violent. She stole Yuu's first kiss, and she had made unwanted sexual advances on her. Her relationship was entirely one sided, and never once did she ever think about her partner's feelings. She has a tragic past, and a severe sibling inferiority complex, which leads to her doing everything in her power to follow in her sister's footsteps. I wanted her to redeem herself and work through her problems, independent of Yuu.
Other Characters: How tf are y'all ok with this? How can you watch your VP get abused by your President like this and still defend the president.
Overall: 2/10. Only time I've ever though of an anime as insulting.
