Much like the game this is based on/inspired by, this anime is severely overhyped and disappointing. People must not be watching very good anime if they think this is the best one ever made.

It was serviceable I guess. If you have a few hours to kill and just want to turn your brain off and watch something with the blank stare of a fried netrunner, then this anime is for you!

The story is pretty bland, the visuals seem low-budget, the music kinda sucked. I mean you get the "wow pretty glowy city!" thing for about 5 minutes the first time you see it. ... It's also the one good thing people can agree on about the game, but just a pretty city (especially at night) can only take you so far. Other than that, it's your basic MC gets overpowered and falls in love with the princess story,

The animation itself was inconsistent. Sometimes, especially in the first episodes, it was fine, at other times characters were barely on model. As if whoever was drawing that scene had somehow injured their dominant hand and had to complete the scene using their other one. The fights are mostly gun fights of course and they mostly consist of people standing around shooting at each other like stormtroopers as people talk to each other telepathically. There's only like 2 or 3 shots that are kinda cool. The best part is when the MC uses their special ability, which is turning into a PNG and then sliding around the screen and changing colors. It's almost like when you had a broken screen and tried to move a window or something around on a laggy PC running Windows XP. If you're old enough, you'll know exactly what I mean, and it's used over and over and over and over and over again. You'd probably get more entertainment out of overloading a Minecraft world with sheep named "Jeb."

At this point, I've probably given more effort to writing this review than they did writing this show, so there's no point in me going on. If you've watched everything else and have time to kill, give this a shot I guess. By next week you will have forgotten everything about it. If you value your time and/or have ANYTHING else to do, do that instead and skip this completely.
